After finishing The Love Theorem, I knew I had to read the rest of the series. I loved that Winter was the heroine in this one. This was a very quick and engrossing read. There's danger! Witty banter! Archeological discovery! I thoroughly enjoyed this one, and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Those who enjoyed the movie The Lost City will love this book.

I really dont like the male lead. The writing was good and the plot looked promising, but I cant go on with the book because of the protagonist.

Fast and cute read. It definitely gave me Indiana Jones vibes. It’s a closed-door romance which was surprising because of the innuendos in the story. It didn’t take away from the it but I would have preferred a bit more spice. Overall, a fun book to read on a lazy chill day.

I received this ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This book cover is giving me serious Tarzan & Jane vibes, anyone else?.

I just had to request this when I saw the words Meet-Cute & Enemies-To-Lovers, who else loves seeing those words describing a book?.

I adored the first book in this series and that’s also when we met Winter, she’s Lana’s best friend and now we get Winters love story.

Winter is on a work trip for 3 weeks in the jungle she’s a travel photographer but she’s on an archeological expedition with an agency she’s never worked with before so she’s a little wary but what she didn’t expect was grumpy Dr Logan Spencer.

This was so easy to read and I raced through it , Dr Logan was so grumpy and rude at the start but that’s only because he was so passionate about the expedition but then he began to thaw and that’s when the chemistry between him and Winter began to ramp up.

Winter is an absolute dream I loved her character and just everything about her she’s so fierce.

What I wasn’t expecting was how much danger and peril that the two main characters would be in, I loved that unexpected twist.

I’m excited to read the next book in yeh series which is all about Summer and Archie.

My Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Disclaimer: I received a review copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily. Thanks Netgalley.

Summary: Winter Knowles has agreed to be the photographer for Dr. Logan Spencer's quest to find a lost city of gold in the jungles of Thailand. Logan is hot; it's too bad his attitude has left her referring to him as Satan. He's made it clear that a woman on this trip is the last thing he wants. Logan is embarking on the jungle expedition that will define his career, and the sassy, pretty photographer distracting him and his team is the last thing he needs.

General Thoughts: Are you looking for an adventurous rom-com with great witty banter, dislike to like trope, fun characters, and strong Indiana Jones/ Atlantis/ Road to El Dorado vibes? This one has you covered.

This is the first Camilla Isley book, and it won't be the last. It's predictable, but sometimes that's exactly what you want in a romance. I enjoyed this one from the very first page to the very last one. I went in knowing nothing about the author or the book, but I am glad I took a chance on this cute, heartwarming read.

If you're looking for a lighthearted rom-com with a pinch of suspense and intrigue set against an Indiana Jones adventure-like vibe, this is a great one. The writing was solid as well. Can't wait to read more by her.

My complaint is that the MMC comes across as a misogynist at first, but I never really thought he was. I know that bugged a lot of readers, but for me, I just felt he'd been burned and wasn't excited to have a woman interfere with his important expedition. It didn't bug me, but it also could have been fleshed out more I suppose.

Steam Meter: 🪵 This is a closed door, fade to black, but definitely some hints of steam.

Romantic Tropes
-fade to black, sweet romance
-contemporary romance
-adventure romance
-Indiana Jones/Atlantis vibes
-dislike to like

Love Quest is the second of Camilla Isley’s standalone stories that revolve around three LA best friends. The first of the group was the delightful Love Theorem. In the second, Love Quest, photojournalist Winter Knowles, who has spent years traveling the globe with a bird’s eye view through her camera lens, takes on the jungle. Her latest adventure is to travel with an archeological expedition to discover an ancient lost city in Thailand.
Upon arrival at the resort where the group will meet, Winter discovers the group leader in a compromising position negotiating with a monkey that has stolen his phone. After this comical preview, Winter is surprised to discover his straightforward and no nonsense manner. The party consists of Winter as the documentarian, lead archeologist Dr. Logan Spencer, Archie Hill topographer and drone controller, Tucker Wallace logistics etc., and locals Dr. Rune Boonjan with the Thai Fine Arts Department, and Somchai Inkong, animal handler and machete operator. In addition to this group, there is a three man security group consisting of exDelta Force mercenaries. While security is quite necessary, these monosyllabic communicators are somewhat off putting. The story follows the expedition as it moves into the jungle to set up a base camp and a working camp on site and shows the lively discourse between the lovely Winter and her male companions. This is an adventure that pits life and death issues versus the adventure of a lifetime!
This fast paced adventure, in the vein of Romancing the Stone, as well as some aspects of Raiders of the Lost Ark, will have the reader quickly turning pages to learn what happens next. With wonderfully drawn characters, an exotic setting, and an amazing adventure, this is such a fun romp! I very much enjoyed this book and I certainly do recommend it!

This book was fascinating. The first chapter had me hooked and I stayed up way past my bedtime to finish. It brought back fond memories of some of my favorite childhood movies. The characters were well developed and relatable. The banter between Winter and Logan was fun and full of heat. Their chemistry jumped right off the page. This is the perfect book if you are looking for an adventure that has a whole lot of romance with a little bit of spice!

2.5-3 ⭐️
This was… fine. I really didn’t get the same fun vibe reading the book as I got from the blurb and the characters were very one dimensional.

I didn’t know before I started that this was part of a series, but it quickly became very obvious. There were a lot of unnecessary inserts about the previous book’s plot that just made the beginning kind of confusing and never paid off in any way. I love a good easter egg, but this was just repeated info dumping.

After reading the whole book, pretty much all I know about Winter and Logan are their jobs and the fact that they’re both attractive. Oh, and Logan is kind of a misogynist? They barely speak to each other and I don’t understand why they’re in a relationship. I never felt like there was much chemistry between them and they quickly go from ‘sexual tension’ to ‘we’re in love’. Maybe it’s all a product of the life-or-death circumstances?

The action element of this book was questionable for me. At times it was interesting and enjoyable, but there were parts of it that I just couldn’t buy and they took me out of the story. If you’re going to hype something up as extremely dangerous and give examples of things that could go wrong, there have to be consequences when characters take risks. And Archie’s injury? I mean, come on.

I liked the premise of this book, but the execution just wasn’t there for me.

Can you imagine a witty Barbie photographer meeting a modern-day Indiana Jones? If you do, then you have Love Quest. It was perfect enemies-to-lover rom-com material and a pleasure to read, just what I needed to distract me. A good page-turner. Nevertheless, even though I know it’s fiction, some aspects were so out of reality that I couldn’t help being bothered.
After reading it, I realized that it was part of a series, but it definitely can be read as a standalone.
I'm thankful to @netgalley and Boldwood books for this digital ARC in exchange for producing my honest thoughts.

I think this is probably the quickest I’ve ever finished an entire book which is like really saying something because like I’ve been waiting for like two years and this has never happened and it wasn’t even like a super short Novela like it was a book

starting off I really like this book like just the first chapter I was like ohhh in the first chapter it was really interesting like it started off really different for most chapters but like I’m not complaining because that like put me onto the book and then some parts throughout the book with a little bit boring but like it wasn’t really like boring boring it was just like not interesting but you know it build on and then it just got better i’m a little bit upset if I’m being honest the fact that there was no actual smut smut after reading in the beginning of the book but whatever

And let me tell you logan had no idea what was coming for him he had no idea what is the winter would do to him i like his character as well i feel like there wasn’t really much to his character but i liked how he described her when he first saw her and i really liked winter’s character too she had to remind me of myself like how she didn’t forgive her twin sister even though their siblings like I can see myself being like that.

I feel like before like the big plot twist once they found the city of Gold there wasn’t really much romance or not much tension going on between winter and Logan like you read it the tension in Logan‘s POV but it was mostly winter‘s POV so you really didn’t get that much tension between them just little by little but barely however after the whole big plot twist happen things really got started to get interesting and like you could really tell that like things are about to happen. I definitely learn some survival tricks of what to do if i ever end up happening to me which the likely of it is extraordinarily slim seeing how I literally don’t do anything and stay home and read but it’s always good to have it in handy and yeah I really enjoyed reading the ending of this book like just the whole scenes where he messed up and how they literally chased each other in the airport literally everything about that like yes please

This is a fun, quick, summer read along the lines of Romancing the Stone and Indiana Jones. Adventure and love and a lost city of gold, what's not to like?

Another stunning story from the amazingly talented Camilla Isley

Winter Knowles loves her job as a travel photographer which takes her all over the world. For this assignment she is in Thailand joining a team to go deep into the Thai jungle to look for a possible mysterious lost gold city, however she doesn’t count on “hate at first sight” when she meets the lead archaeologist of the team, moody Dr Logan Spencer. Logan makes it plainly obvious that he isn’t happy that Winter will be joining the team, but sassy Winter holds her own, and they spend a lot of the first few days of the expedition sniping at each other much to Logan’s friends, and fellow team members Archie and Tucker’s, amusement. However, when both Logan and Winter find themselves in mortal danger, they have no choice but to work together to save themselves plus they soon realise that their teammates are also in grave danger too and to save them also means working as a team. Will Winter and Logan be able to save themselves as well as their team? And if they do manage this, will they have a new appreciation for each other? You won’t regret reading to find out!

Wow I can’t believe another book has broken my star rating system!! Definitely deserves 5+ stars. I confess I did have a great feeling starting this book as I really loved The Love Theorem by Camilla Isley but I did not expect to be laughing out loud on the first page!! I absolutely loved Winter and I really enjoyed being in her head, her inner monologues were so funny! I was even educated on jungle matters as I had to look up “snake gaiters” as I had never heard of them before! I definitely felt Indiana Jones vibes which suited me perfectly as I love that film. The cherry on the cake however, was the “sparkling” Twilight reference in the last part of the book. If Camilla Isley wasn’t already one of my top favourite rom com authors, she would have topped the list just with that reference alone.

I honestly don’t think I can find enough ways to say how much I enjoyed this book, anyone who enjoys a rom com would love this too. I am so excited that it is part of a series as I am not ready to let Winter and Logan go just yet! I’m off to start The Love Proposal! Highly highly recommend this one!!

Thank you to NetGalley, Camilla Isley and Boldwood Books for my advanced reading copy. Out now.

REVIEW
⚠️cw: misogyny ⚠️
When feisty travel photographer Winter Knowles joins arrogant archaeologist Dr. Logan Spencer on an expedition in the Thai jungle, they immediately clash. But forced together to overcome dangerous circumstances, Winter and Logan realise they might not be quite so different.
I was excited to read this Indiana Jones style rom-com but I wasn't aware that it was part of a series when I requested it from NetGalley. Still, it was easy to follow without prior knowledge of the minor characters that are mentioned early on, and it left me interested enough to want to read the other books. I love enemies-to-lovers, so I really thought I'd love the dynamic between Logan and Winter, but I have to be honest, the snark from Winter felt a little forced, particularly at the start and end, and Logan, Archie and Tucker came across as misogynistic, rather than cheeky, at the beginning. But the characters grew on me thankfully, and even though I saw the twist coming a mile away, it was fun. I won't spoil anything, but I particularly enjoyed the stereotypical 'hero' role reversals at certain points in the story. I wasn't a fan of the forced drama towards the end, but it was an easy read with a satisfying ending. I really liked Archie, so I'm happy that he's going to get his own story.

Such a delightful read!!

What's not to love about Love Quest? A jungle setting with a treasure hunt and the most amazing characters!

Quick Summary: A fast-paced, enemies to lovers, adventure romance

My Review: Love Quest by Camilla Isley is a cute and quirky read that's just perfect for the summer.

About the Book: The very best way to describe this book would be... It's a mix of Indiana Jones, Romancing the Stone, and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. In one minute, the story is all about humor and playful banter, and in the next minute, it's all about the serious business associated with an archeological task. It's also all about a sexy academian and a spirited photog with sass and a sense of adventure.

Logan - >

Dr. Logan Spencer has made it his life's work to discover the Lost City of Thailand. He suffered a hard loss in his quest to achieve his dream. Because of the hit, he is more determined than ever to make sure nothing and no one gets in his way. Unfortunately, the travel photographer linked to his project seems to be doing everything she can to distract him. Why does she irritate him so easily?

Winter - >

Winter Knowles has worked extremely hard to have a successful career in travel photography. She is no stranger to what is required to go to isolated places in order to get the job done. When she takes on an assignment in Thailand with a nutty (or should I say naughty) professor, it's all she can do not to let him annoy her. How can a man who seems to be so insufferable be so attractive to her at the same time?

About the Conflict: When an unexpected challenge lands him and his beautiful companion in a dangerous situation, can they put aside their differences and work together? Can they save themselves and their friends before it's too late? Is it possible that they can discover the truest treasure of all?

My Final Say: This was a quick read. It was the The Lost City in book form, with a twist. Readers who want a funny haha, action-y novel will find this one to be a winner.

One part Indiana Jones, another part National Treasure, and a third part The Mummy. Love Quest is the story of a photographer and Quest leader who get on each other's nerves from the jump, but for the sake of the success of the mission......and later just surviving it, they have to work together. It's fun, funny, hot, and I enjoyed almost every second of it.
It's a quick read full of annoyance to lovers, forced proximity, and miscommunication. The antics are funny, they start to border on annoying, but the author reigns it in. The ending caught me a little by surprise, but that's kind of nice these days. I would read a spin-off about some of the side characters in a heart beat. A great summer read.
