This isn’t a romance novel. Babe in the Woods by Jude Hopkins about a woman searching for meaning and I was here for it. I think you will be too, because this book is a breath of fresh air.

Meet Hadley Todd. After living in Los Angeles, she returns to her hometown in rural New York to write and be near her father. In addition to looking after him and teaching high school malcontents, Hadley hopes to channel her recent heartbreak into a play about the last moment of a woman's innocence. But she seeks inspiration.

Meet Trey Harding. He’s a young, handsome reporter who covers sports at the high school. Trey reminds Hadley of her ex and is the perfect spark to fire up her imagination. The fact that Trey is an aspiring rock star, and she has L.A. record biz connections, makes the alliance perfect.

Hadley dangles promises of music biz glory while watching his moves. But will they be able to survive the surprising twist that transpires when the two of them go to Hollywood?

While I can’t say I absolutely loved the book, I did like it quite a bit! I typically read don’t read books like this but BITW was engaging and better yet, real. I wish I could be a part of her writing group meetings and share a conversation over tea. Do you feel the same about Hadley? Read the book and let me know!

Thank you to NetGalley and Wild Rose Press for a temporary e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was different fom what I thought it would be. It had to do with love and men who left.
It has been published on the 7th of June and you can get a copy now.

Hadley wanted a man but everyone she picked had other women.

She is a teacher and after so many heartbreaks, she decides to write and let the men go.

Maybe she'll run in to a man who decides he loves her, who knows?
