To this day, Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell is one of my favorite books and I love each of the manga installments that have come out thus far. This volume picks up after the disaster of a kiss scene in book 2.

After lots of avoiding and long awkward silences everything between Cath and Levi (and ultimately Reagan) get resolved. Which means we get lots of cute Cath and Levi date scenes. Woot!

Meanwhile Cath and her sister still haven't made up. College and issues with their mother seem to keep the rift between them going, but everything comes to a head around Christmas. Cath's dad is doing better, but Laura looms ever present on the horizon. Until Cath gets a call, and it isn't from her sister...duh duh duh! How will she react?

Can she cope with the new and tumultuous emotions she is feeling.?

I think I will truly love every volume of this series. As someone who wasn't a huge fan of the novel, these adaptions are amazing. I love the manga style and I think it makes the story more accessible

This series just continues to get better and better. I loved the original book and I love reading it in this new format. The illustrations fit the story well and the writing get’s most crucial things across even though it is short. Overall, I would highly recommend checking these out.

My obsession level with these graphic novels is UNHEALTHY. Seriously they perfectly captured every single character. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an e-arc in exchange for an e-arc.

Fangirl the manga continues to be a cute adaptation of the original Rainbow Rowell book. If I understand correctly, this volume was written by Rainbow herself, so it does read slightly different than the first two volumes, the scripts of which were written by Sam Maggs, but this is still an excellent adaptation. In this volume, Cath really begins to come into her own and tell the people she cares about what she wants. I haven't re-read the book in a while, and have been enjoying following along in the manga, reconnecting with the characters and story.

This is the volume I enjoyed the least, but I'm still invested in the story. The most compelling parts of the story are the family dynamics. I found myself most engaged when Cath struggled with her father's mental health issues, her mother's rejection, and her evolving relationship with her twin sister. The love story with Levi and the fanfiction interludes have become boring. However, I'm looking forward to reading the last volume.

Only purchase where the original has die-hard fans. I loved Fangirl when it came out, and the manga adaptations are well done, but the current teen readers at my library aren’t interested; too much time has passed since the original was published.

This graphic novel adaptation is the bee's knees, like I love it in ways that I absolutely didn't with the original narrative form. In part, it's because of the art style-- the illustrative quality of the characters like Cath and Wren, the dorm life, her friendships and writing and of course, the interrupted segments of Cath's fanfiction of Simon Snow are cozy, bittersweet, and authentic.

Cath wants to protect her dad who is unbalanced after his wife, Cath and and Wren's mom, left them. Cath thinks she needs to make sure he's okay to the detriment of her being able to full immerse herself in college life which includes friendships and relationships, especially in this third volume when she's just watched the boy she just kissed, kiss another girl at a party (though he doesn't know).

The emotion is palpable in each page and it's what I adore about the graphic novel adaptation. I want Cath's style, it hearkens back to college life, but provides real glimpses into emotional turmoil (her failing relationship with her sister and her non-existent one with her mom and how she wants to save her dad). Adore!

This volume continues the story that the first two of the manga started. Cath deals with major family issues and difficulty as she continues to navigate her freshman year. Her twin sister seems to be drifting further away, her friendship with Levi is good but confusing and the Simon Snow series continues to be a constant distraction. I have read and loved the novel Fangirl and this manga is an excellent adaptation of the book. I was delighted to read it in this format and am looking forward to the next volume.

Fangirl has been one of my favorite books for years and one I turn to when I need a comfort read. I've really enjoyed the previous manga books and am looking forward to finishing the series.

Another delightful volume of a wonderful book (the one that started the Simon Snow series, which are some of my favorites) - always such fun illustrations and details, and it’s such a treat to see how the story has been adapted and edited but still is just as readable and engaging. Excited for the next volume!

I really enjoy the manga versions of Fangirl! It's bringing new life to a story that I've read before and loved. It's fun to see the characters of the story, as well as Simon and Baz, on paper and compare to what I imagined they looked like while reading the original novel.

This series is a great telling of the book, with infuriating cliffhangers. Infuriating in the way that it's really well done. This volume seemed especially wonderful. Not sure if it's because we're hitting the end or because the little updates to the story were cute additions. Ex. the dad commenting at the TV on Christmas. The art is cute and wonderful. I just love that this is getting this version.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publishers & my girl Rainbow for the ARC. I love everything that Rainbow Rowell does and have been waiting for volume 3 FOREVER!! I fangirled so hard when I saw I got approved for the ARC! As I obviously have read 'Fangirl', the novel, before I knew what I was getting. The graphic novel is clear and easy to follow. All of the important parts of the book are in it, so you don't feel lost. The drawings were beautiful and really allowed the reader to become one with the story. The Fangirl/SImon Snow universe is so special to me. As a HP fan (not of JK, she's a dbag), it reminds me of how I felt reading HP for the first time and the secret fan girl I was growing up. I love Cath because she isn't afraid to show her love of Simon and Baz. I think if I were a kid now, I wouldn't be concerned with people thinking I was a loser for liking HP or reading books. Like reading books is cool! Writing fan-fic? That's awesome! I know this is a ramble, but it's great. I am sad I'm going to have to wait FOREVER again. Bah.

🖊️ REVIEW🖊️

Fangirl volume 3 is the newest addition to the manga series based on the Fangirl novel by Rainbow Rowell. I still haven’t read the original novel, but I’m hooked to this manga series! I enjoy all of the characters, but I find Cath especially relatable. I appreciate the way that the story focuses on her different relationships (Levi, Nick, Wren, Raegan, and her dad) at different times. I feel like this method of writing allows for a complex story without things becoming so over complicated that they become confusing. Another great feature is the way that Cath’s Simon Snow fan fiction is woven into the story…it gives readers a fun side story and more characters to look forward to seeing again.

Although this volume JUST came out, I’m already looking forward to the next book in the series! I’m eager to read about what happens in Cath’s life next.

Thank you to NetGalley and VIZ Media for the opportunity to review an ARC of this title!

I loved Fangirl when I was in school and this is the perfect reintroduction to the book. The first two manga volumes in the series had me hooked and I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to read the proof of book three! I love the art style and the story stays very true to the original plot. I especially love the Simon and Baz chapters - I think a Carry On reread is certainly on the cards!!

I am so in love with this series!

The art is fantastic. The plot is captivating. The characters pop off the page.

This volume is where everything gets super real.
Romance arch: Volume 2 left off on a HUGE cliffhanger and Cath is still reeling from it. Can she salvage her friendship with Levi or is it destined to bloom into something more?
Friendship Arch: Things with her writing partner Nick take a super dark turn. Enter academic dishonesty. And things with Reggie are always hot and cool.
Sister Arch: Wren is still trying to distance herself from Simon Snow, Cath and home problems. Wren even reaches out to their mom!
Father Arch: I do really love how honestly and tenderly the dad is taken care of in this volume. This novel doesn't shy away from a realistic look at mental health issues.

Read on for great art!

Pleaaaassee stop leaving me on cliffhangers! It’s so cruel! :(

Anyway, this is another brilliant volume. I’m really loving the pace and the artwork still, and I really love the budding friendship between Cath and her roommate! I love their scenes together and how comfortable and relaxed she is with her!

I also love that things were resolved with Levi, they’re so cute together! I have to say, I really empathise with Cath so I’m not Wren’s biggest fan and I’m not sure I will be! >_<

I also absolutely love the way the FanFiction and novel extracts are included within the story, I just end up absolutely riveted by the dual narrative every single time!

Thank you Netgalley and VIZ media for supplying me with a free digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is one of the best graphic novel adaptations for a young adult series I have read. This volume, particularly, has my most favorite scenes from the novel. The drama, anxiety, and angst just hit all the right places.

"Are you rooting for me?"

I never knew I needed this in visual format before, but the dopamine rush I got was a whole other level. Now to reread this volume and the the other a few dozen times until volume 4.
