An enemies to lovers trope with a dash of sports? Sign me up. Unfortunately I didn’t like this one….at all.
The book started with a bang right at the beginning and I was instantly hooked….until Adalyn opened her mouth. She took “independent woman” to a whole new level and actually came across as rude, arrogant and whiny instead. I really liked cam and thought he deserved better than Adalyns treatment. However he really needed to stop with the use of darling. The plot itself was also extremely boring and I wanted more soccer aspect than I got. Also the ten year olds acted way too old and I hated that sooooo much. I think a lot of people are going to like this but I am not one

5 stars— Thank You S&S Canada & NetGalley for this eArc. This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year and it did not disappoint. It delivered everything a fun romcom novel should. It had the perfect amount of humour, hilarious jokes, and banter that reminded me of my favourite comfort romance movies, and two loveable main characters who complimented each other perfectly. The slow burn romance and pacing was executed flawlessly. There was great tension and buildup to a satisfying ending and an unexpected plot twist that I didn’t see coming even with the planted clues. This was easily one of my favourite reads of the year and I finished it in one day. My only critique was that I think I spotted 3 grammatical errors (missing words in sentences) but other than that, this story is definitely my favourite so far from Elena Armas.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for this digital arc!!

Honestly I wanted to LOVE it but just liked it. Cameron is a dream boy and carried the entire book with his open and honest communication, and general hotness. Adalyn- get it together girl this guy is obsessed with you and you’re being weird!!

That being said I love soccer so I really enjoyed the setting and plot devices that pushed the book forward.

3/5!
