Overall I would say I enjoyed this story. I would say it fits into the category of "spicy palate cleanser" for me. Its not going to rock your world but I loved the FMC (yay women in stem) and enjoyed the overall plot though sometimes the pacing felt off to me.
I am lucky to be a part of Marni’s ARC team and I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to read Mr. Hook-up early.
Thank you to Marni and Netgalley for the Advanced e-copy.
Easton Jones / Mr. Boston
The story starts out with Easton’s POV. He is a bachelor who co-founded an app for hooking-up with his 2 friends, called Hooked. He matches with SaarasLove at 100%, which is extremely rare. Even his friends were shocked when he told them he matched at 100.
Easton decides to talk to SaarasLove, or Love. They text back and forth almost every day and feel an instant connection, they have never felt with anyone before. They decide to meet up at the masquerade launch party. They meet, they hook up but have no clue what the other person looks like, or their real names. They continue to text back and forth but never get the chance for a second meet up.
All of a sudden, Love disappears, leaving Mr. Boston heartbroken and confused. Flash forward almost 6 years and they are finally face to face, expect they have no idea who the other is.
Enter Drake Madden / SaarasLove who is the newest employee for Hooked. Drake awakens something in Easton that he cannot ignore. Something he hasn’t felt since Love. Wanting to explore those feelings, he starts to get closer to Drake, until Love reaches out on the app, igniting past emotions and feelings.
I absolutely loved this book. It was so nice seeing some of the gang from the Dalton Group.

Thank you so much to Montlake for the eARC of this one. These are my honest thoughts!
My first Marni Mann book! I've seen her books on bookstagram, but this is the first chance I'm having to pick up a book. I will say... I really enjoyed this one!
I listened to this on Audible, and I will say, the main male narrator wasn't my fave to narrator for Drake, but I liked the female narrator enough for Drake!
I REALLY liked the concept of this story. Three friends founded an app called Hooked, and one of the main founders, Easton, got a 100% match, which is unheard of. He ends up meeting and hooking up with his match, but matters drag them apart.
Five years later, they reconnect. Their connection is strong and their chemistry is fire. I loved all the side characters and the adventures of running a successful app, challenging the market, and widening the scope. I liked all the business talk and the way Easton and Drake ended up working together.
I would definitely go back and read the rest of this series! I liked all of Easton's friends and Drake's bestie, and would love to see their HEAs in future stories!
Mr. Hook Up by author Marni Mann is a fast paced, low angst, steamy office romance. It is a quick read with an addictive hero who is an alpha but not an alphahole, which, though I love them, was a refreshing change. 😆
I love the connection Easton and Drake have. They had chemistry from the beginning. Watching their relationship develop knowing what we know but they don't know was fun.
Author Marni Mann delivers another fabulous story with great characters. Looking forward to the next installment in this serial!!
This BOOK. While creating an app designed specifically for hooking up, the MMC meets the FMC with a 100% compatibility match. After one steamy night, they lose track of each other for years.
Fast forward and Drake (FMC) starts working for Hooked, the app that Easton (MMC) helped to found. Dating your boss, it’s a bad idea right?
This book is HOT, like do not read on public transportation hot. It was definitely spice forward, lacking in a strong plot. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but if you like more plot than spice, it might not be for you!
I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
Mr. Hook-Up was so freaking fun and spicy! Marni Mann pulled out all the stops with this one and it was a wild ride to read.
I have read a few of this authors books via audiobook, but this is the first one that I have read on my kindle. I tried to like this book and power through, but after two months and only making it 42% of the way through, I decided to DNF it. I don't know why, but I was having a really hard time connecting to these characters, and when that happens, I find that I end up not really caring about their story and where they end up. I will try to pick up this book again in a few months, but for now, it was not for me. #MrHookup #NetGalley
Mr Hook-up By Marni Mann
I have loved All of Marni’s books I have read so far and this one was no exception.
It did take me a while to get into this book and once I was into it I definitely didn’t want to put the book down.
I am so glad that I didn’t give up on this book as it was worth the energy I had to push through this book. And I ended up absolutely loving this book.
If you struggle at the start to get into this book, don’t give up it’s most definitely worth the wait.

As always Marni delivered. This was such a good book. I loved the hidden identity (for reasons), the insta love/lust, and their overall chemistry. Not to mention the spice was delicious too. Definitely recommend. Excited to see where this series goes.
Recently I enjoyed 'listening' to this story while at work. I enjoyed learning more about the guy friends. There was nice banter along the way. Looking forward to reading more in the series since this is # 1.
Easton and his friends create a new dating app for one night stands. Easton matches with someone with a 100%, which is unheard of. They instantly hit it off but life gets in the way and they don’t get to meet. Years later Easton hires a new employee who seems very familiar.
I did love the storyline. It was very original and kept my attention throughout.
I usually DNF with instant love. I didn’t love the instant connection/ love in the beginning , but did appreciate the development of the relationship during the second chance. Marni takes the instant love to a new level.
There were so many side characters and friends we met along the way and I am excited to learn their stories in the future
Instant Romance ✔️
Second Chance ✔️
I am very sorry but sadly this has been a DNF for me. I did not enjoy the beginning of the book as much as I wanted to and therefore I can't give a proper review to this. Don't worry, this has not been added to my review platforms. This book just wasn't it for me during the time that I was supposed to read it.
I LOVE anything Marni Mann writes. It can be hard for me to get into a book with the “play boy reformed” MC but she writes them so well! I looove a tough, takes no crap FMC and so does Marni! Both of these characters were very lovable and I really saw myself in the FMC. I will read anything Marni writes.
Masked love, second chance, workplace romance, and a woman in STEM? Sign me up. I love all things social media and to be honest, hook-up apps have always intrigued me since I’ve never used one.
Easton and Drake’s romance was coded from the start. Their perfect match, their push and pull, their soulmate love! It’s all perfection.
Not gonna lie when I got to part 2 and saw Drake I was disappointed. But after learning it's Easton and Drake I was happy. This is a second chance which I love. Their reconnection was great. Also I want to read the Dalton books now. The chemistry was great and it was well written
This is an autograb author for me. I will read everything she writes. I always love her books. This one was no different. It was a great time. It was spicy and had a great storyline. It was a bit of a second chance romance. Drake was such an awesome character. Strong and determined. Easton was the sweet hottie that pulls you towards him. The dating application was interesting. I loved seeing their love unfold. I definitely recommend this book. Thank you to NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
It is the perfect palette cleanser book. Lower angst, good steam, fast paced story…. With the right amount of steam and tension and angst. I loved the texting moments as those are typically my favorite
Was this book my favorite? No. Did I fly through it and enjoy it? Yes! Was a fun, quick read. Will read the rest of the series!
Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher, and author for the copy of this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I am really liking Marni Mann's books and they keep getting better with each release! A great start to the series
