This book was wonderful. It stayed in the undergrad/graduate section longer than I expected but UT was necessary for the storyline (and Marni Mann has never steered me wrong).
I read this story quickly and it was spicy. Lots of spice is always promised by Mann, so I'm glad to report that this series is going to be just as hot as her others.
Small nods to her past series were 10/10 appropriate and perfect. This book is a must read and I can't wait for more in the series.

This was a fun, steamy read! Tropes include second chance romance, billionaire boyfriend, and there was no third act break up, which is my favorite!! Drake and Easton were well developed and likable. I enjoyed some of the "girl power" aspects of the story without there being too much of it. Drake was relatable, and I can't want to see if there will be more to this story!

3.5 stars rounded up! I liked it!

Thanks to Netgalley and Marni Mann for the advanced copy to review!

Hot in a cerebral way...

When grad student Easton gets a 100% match on the hook up app he created with his two buddies to hook up, he's immediately Hooked. He is a one night stand guy and built his future on not wining and dining, but instead getting P. But he's all in for Love, his match on Hooked. Love is complicated, finishing her under grad and needing to just hook up, understand men and test her boundaries. They have smart and foxy texts and a hot fifteen minute hook up.

Fast forward some years and Easton and Hooked;s newest employee is Drake. Easton is all in. and Love is back. It doesn't take long for him to figure stuff out. Smoking hot foxy times ensure with a slow, long build to love and a future with Drake. They are more mature, definitely a sexual match for each other but also an emotional match as well.
Nice job of mixing the hook ups with emotion and brains.
Recommend.

Mr Hook-Up is the first book in a new spin off series that introduces us to the first in the group, Declan. Declan and his friends have created their own dating app and he has made a match. A 100% match.

SaarasLove made a 100% match to Mr Boston! Who would have ever dreamed it? The match is what dreams are made of. The chemistry is powerful but the timing is not. A constant battle of bad timing and missed opportunities make it hard to make a go of it.

Undelivered. Declan looked down and saw the red writing. It would be five years before he heard another word.

Life is great for Declan five years later. He’s at the top of his game with his business and he has met someone new. She is making him feel things he hasn’t in years, not since Love. He’s never forgotten her and never gotten answers but now that he has moved on she’s back and wants to give him those answers. Does he still want those answers? Is he willing to risk what he has found with Drake for Love? A woman whose name he never even knew.

Declan will have some hard decisions to make and not just in his personal life.

Easton and his friends have created an app for hookups. When he makes his account he doesn’t use his real name just a screen name like everyone else. Drake has joined because her friend pushed her to knowing that she just needs to blow off some steam. Her and Easton match 100%. They decide to meet up at a masquerade party that hookup is holding. After that they talk on the phone and always plan to meet up but there scheduled never align. Then Drake lets Easton know that she’s leaving town. And slowly starts to cut all communication with him until he calls on day and her phone has been disconnected. Since they never exchanged names he has no way to find her. Five years later after their company has taken off Easton and his partners hire another person for help. But he doesn’t realize he’s just hired the girl he fell for that ghosted him. This was a good read.

Easton and his friends founded a new app called Hooked and when he finds his perfect match with 100% compatibility he thinks there is a mistake. Until he gets to know his mysterious match. However, things end suddenly. Five years pass by and the woman he never thought he would hear from again is back.
Easton and Drake have a strong connection, a connection that neither of them can really deny. Their chemistry is off the charts from the start and the more time they spend together and the more time they truly get to know each other its evident at how perfect they are for each other.
I love Drake. She’s a BA, hardworking woman in the tech field and she can handle her own like its no ones business. She’s worked hard to get where she is in her career and I love that she isn’t going to let anyone stop her. I love Easton, I love that his is an alpha, but he also is sweet and will do anything for people he cares about, especially Drake.
If you’re looking for a billionaire, secret, forced proximity, forbidden, workplace romance check this one out.

Easton is a cofounder to a new dating app where he matches with “Love” at 100%. They talk for awhile and finally meet up at a masked ball where they have one night stand then poof she disappears on him.

Several years later they meet up again and he’s her boss.

Easton is the best! He’s sweet and caring and a great man. I loved Easton but honestly I felt no connection to Drake.

This book wasn't for me. The writing style seemed very choppy and contained too many texting exchanges.

Thank you to NetGalley, Montlake and the author for allowing me to be an early reader.

Mr. Hook-up by Marni Mann is the First book in the Hooked Series. This is the story of Easton Jones and Drake Madden. Easton and his two friends in college created a dating app called "Hooked". This app ended up finding Easton a 100% match. They meet and Easton feels a connection. They hook up but then Drake deletes her account and change her number. Now 5 years or so later she ends up working for him. This starts their second chance at love.

Mr Hook Up was fast paced and easy to sink into. It's the story of a hook up app and it's creators. When one of the three best friends who build the app gets a 100% match, he needs to know this girl. She is everything he didn't know he wanted and more. But when she ghosts him before they get to meet IRL, he is heart broken. Fast forward 5 years and things start up again.

The premise was so good. I loved this idea, but ended up feeling like something was missing. I wanted this to have the page turning feelings of investment in their relationship that I expected. The steam was good, but the depth that makes us love these longing filled books just wasn't there. Even the conflict at the end seemed to be a little too rushed and easy to clean up.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.

I LOVED this book. The storyline, the characters, the spice...perfection!

Easton and his two best friends created a dating app called Hookup. They all create profiles and begin matching with women- Easton himself getting a 100% match with username SaarasLove. The pair meet and hookup at a masquerade party so they never see each others face! When SaarasLove moves away they lose touch and she disconnects her phone. Five years later, Easton finds himself falling for his new hire, Drake, and something about her is so familiar.

I really loved this story! It’s steamy, it’s angsty, it’s happy! All the things I love in a romance! Marni is a fantastic writer- I’ve been working on her backlist of books and loved all the Dalton books! Can’t wait to see more from this series- wonder if Holden or Grayson will be next!

“They say time stops at nothing. I saw time stopped when I met her.”

BostonLifer + SaarasLove are simply destined to be together…their match percentage proved it. But their roads took different directions…until fate brought them back together.

I am a HUGE fan of Marni Mann’s writing, and am obsessed with the way she writes her MMCs. They’re the perfect balance of alpha, obsessive, & tender. And Easton is right in line with his predecessors (The Dalton crew & men of The Agency)!! Easton is literally consumed by Drake…and she is such a wonderfully balanced FMC. Gentle - Confident - Carefree…I want to be her when I grow up!

A wonderful intro to this new series, and am absolutely looking forward to seeing who snags Holden’s heart & who is able to put Grayson in his place (as well as break that quasi-grump thing he has going on!)!
Don’t waste a moment…dive into the Hooked world too! 🪝🪝

“But she was here. Now. And I was promising myself one thing — I wasn’t going to let her go.”

4.35⭐
Genre ~ contemporary romance
Series ~ Hooked #1
Setting ~ Boston, Massachusetts
Publication date ~ October 3, 2023
Page Count ~ 322 (38 chapters p+e)
Audio length ~ 8 hours
Narrators ~ Alexander Cendese, Meg Sylvan
POV ~ dual 1st
Featuring ~ 2 parts, alpha hero, billionaire, boss/employee, forbidden love, forced proximity, office romance, one night stand, second chance, secret romance, workplace romance, steamage, NO 3rd ACT BREAKUP!

Easton/Mr. Boston & Drake/Love
The first part is strictly in Easton's POV. He's one of 3 founders of the app for hooking up called Hooked. He matches 100% with Saaralove, which is unheard of. They meet up, and hook up, but they're both wearing masks so they have no clue what each other looks like. They text back and forth for a while, but never get the chance to meet up again. Until we flash forward 5 1/2 years and they're in each other's lives again, but neither knows who the other is.

I've got another book boyfriend to add to my list! Easton was perfect from beginning to end. A sweet, caring alpha that'll sizzle your socks right off.

I didn't love Drake at first, but I easily warmed up to her as her story unfolded and the reasoning for earlier things became clear.

There is a conflict, but can I get a whoop whoop for no 3rd act breakup? So refreshing! And what Easton did to resolve the conflict was everything.

Overall, a wonderful start to a new series. I can already see how Holden and Grayson's stories are going to be just as great!

It's been so long since I've read an anonymous text trope and man have I missed it! Drake and Easton have amazing chemistry and heat from their messages alone that when they finally meet I'm obsessed with them. Their thoughts and how they tried to figure out how they knew each other was fantastic.

The external conflict came out of nowhere to me but I loved it, it was perfectly executed and helped prevent a third act breakup. I loved how this book was set up in it'd entirety, and can't wait to see where this series goes next!

First of all, I loved that this story was set in Boston since my very first Marni Mann book was too. I liked seeing a start up technology company headquartered there instead of the obvious New York or California locations.

Second, can Easton Jones be any dreamier? He’s just. . . WOW. I have no words to adequately describe this man.

And let’s talk about Drake Madden, the MIT graduate, the technology wiz. A brilliant, gorgeous woman. Probably one of my favorite female main characters.

Part 1 of this story takes us thru Easton and Drake’s initial meeting via his new dating application, Hooked, where they don’t even know each other’s names but they match at 100%. They have one actual “hook up.” Share a bunch of text messages. But then she disappears and he’s heartbroken.

Part 2 is when they meet again over 5 years later when Easton becomes Drake’s boss but they initially don’t know it’s a reunion (their only previous hookup was at a masked event) so that reveal takes a bit - otherwise this story is pretty fast paced. There are plenty of steamy scenes (because it’s Marni and no one does intense, sexy storylines better) and Easton definitely sets the bar for book boyfriends.

I was completely intrigued with the secondary characters. Drake has a best friend Saara that I already adore. She gives her bestie great advice and is a loyal confidant. I also already love Grayson and Holden, Easton’s best friends and partners, and can’t wait for their books!

Oh, and thank you Marni for the mentions of our favorite family of lawyers. IYKYK. Perfect!

Marni Mann can write anything and I’m going to read it - Mr. Hook-Up is the first in a brand new series about college buddies who write code for and market brand new software for a hook-up app.

Easton is the first and only person to get a 100% match, with a girl named SaarasLove, who he meets at the masquerade cocktail party launch for the party, they have their hook-up, as the app is made for, and they go their separate ways when they can’t find a way to stay in the same place after graduation.

Years later they happen to come across each other and discover who each other is in a very unusual situation - trying to determine if the chemistry they had from all of their app chatting years ago is worth pursuing again and potentially causing them problems now.

Another brilliant, steamy, unique story from Marni Mann that everyone needs to read! An absolute recommendation from me!

I received an advance copy from NetGalley and Montlake, and this is my honest feedback.

I see that Easton and Drake are going to introduce us to the east coast crew to rival the Dalton family, and I’m not mad about that at all! These two may seem a bit instalove, or instalust, but there’s also something more. Maybe a familiarity. Or a memory. Or just a sense of rightness? They’re not sure, but it sure seems like they’re going to find out!

Along the way, these two communicate wonderfully. They’re mature, open, honest, and have each other’s back when it’s 100% important to do so, and also earn the loyalty of everyone important on both sides of the relationship. Even when it seems like all might be lost, the refusal to believe the unbelievable is a thing of beauty. Add some spite, underhanded tricks, and a swift comeuppance for someone, and I’m looking forward to seeing the next Hooked bachelor fall!

Marni just doesn't miss! A second chance, office romance? SPICY?? YES please and thank you so much.

There is just something about Marnis writing that flows so naturally. I open her book, blink, and it's over! She writes the most binge worthy romance out there, and I cannot get enough.
