Marni Mann
4⭐️
Marni Mann has me “hooked” on a new series!
If you love spicy romance reads that have deeper plots, this one is for you! I loved Easton and Drakes story. It was emotional, beautiful, and the chemistry was outstanding!
What I enjoyed;
✨Workplace Romance
✨ Billionaire
✨ Second Chance
✨ Forced Proximity
✨ Nice & Spicy
✨ Dalton Brothers Cameos
Thank you NetGalley and Montlake for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest preview.
Thank you NetGalley and Marni Mann for providing me an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book hooked me. Marni wrote an excellent build up for this second chance romance. Our FMC is a driven professional in a male dominated field our MMC has developed a dating app with his best friends in college. Through the app the main characters meet and the story take off from there. A very romantic and hella spicy read.
Marni Mann is my desert island author. I don't know what I would do without her books. Her writing is so engaging, the banter between her couples is so sexy and the steam level in her books is inferno level hot. I absolutely adore her stories, and Mr. Hook-Up is no exception. I absolutely adored Easton and Drake. Their connection was fabulous and the love between them could be felt right off the pages!!
What I love more than anything was the fact that Mann built a solid foundation between Drake and Easton. We saw how they began and what initially was an attraction burned into a roaring cauldron of passion and deep emotions. I absolutely adored this story and can not recommend it enough! Now I need Grayson and Holden's books ASAP!! 5 outstanding Stars! ~Ratula ❤️
I absolutely loved this story. I loved that the flirty banter, the extended cast of characters, the fantastic way all of them interacted. I also appreciated how the couple remained a team through any obstacles, Drake and Easton were wonderful characters I rooted for from the beginning and I hope we get more from the Hooked world! Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for an early read.
I almost DNFed this one. The beginning was pretty dry. The first part was boring to me and I wanted to give up. Despite that, I pushed myself to continue and we come to the second part, which was much more interesting to me
3,25 stars
I have been reading this book for a month now and from the very beginning I have a dilemma whether it is finished or not. The book consists of two parts. The first part was boring to me and I wanted to give up. Somehow I forced myself to continue and we come to the second part, which was much more interesting to me.
Three friends created a dating app and Easton, one of them, finds his match. They feel an incredible connection, but Love aka Drake breaks all contact when she logs out of the app and changes her phone number. After five years, they meet again when she starts working in their company.
This is a classic cliché story where you can predict the whole action and the end. I can't say it's bad, but it's not good either. I have already read several stories by this author and I know that she has a very nice writing style. This book left me indifferent and that's why my rating is what it is.
Thank you for this opportunity .
5 Star Review of Mr Hook-Up (Hooked #1) by Marni Mann
Having read and enjoyed numerous books by Marni Mann I could not wait to dive into Mr Hook-Up. The first book in her latest series Hooked about three friends: Easton, Holden and Grayson who created a hook-up app together. This is Easton Jones and Drake Madden’s story and what an entertaining story it was.
Testing his app, Easton Jones (user: Mr. Boston) and user: Saaraslove aka Love have a 100% match but after one night together, Love disappears from his life. Fast forward 5 years and the chemistry between Easton and Drake is off the charts, until Love suddenly re appears. Now Easton is torn between two women. Who will he choose?
Mr. Hook-Up is a fast paced, second chance at love story that ticked all the boxes for me. Cannot wait to see what Ms. Mann has in store for the rest of the series.
I received a copy from the publisher through Netgalley.
Love Marni Mann and all she writes!! Loved this book and the characters! Loved the concept! Easton and Drake are 100% connection on an app. But they didn’t know each other identity. Life happens and they go their separate ways. But years later… the are put together again… how they get to happily ever after was great. Love Easton and I so got where Drake was coming from!!
Thank you Netgalley and Montlake for my gifted arc in exchange for an honest review!
When I saw a new Marni Mann book I jumped to request it!! I LOVED the concept of this. I went in blind and found the first part told by only Easton. I didn’t realize it would be split up and I loved it. As always you get plenty of steam and you even get some cameos from the Dalton Group. This was a super quick read and loved every minute of it! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
This is a spicy, second chance, workplace romance. The MC created a hook up app with his friends and he matches 100% with someone - they date and then the FC deletes the app. The MC and FC pine for each other over the years until 5 years later, the FC comes back on the app. I loved this book and will definitely check our more of Marni Mann's books.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I'll be honest, I almost DNFed this one. The beginning was pretty dry. Boy matches with girl on the dating app he created. Compatibility is 100%. Boy and girl talk and fall in love. Girl ghosts boy when she moves away and disconnects her phone.
Fast forward five, almost six years, and boy and girl meet. Boy is her boss (shock!) and the attraction is still felt by both parties. I thought at this point, if the story didn't get better, I would DNF. But it did get better. The characters seemed a lot more developed. Drake (our FMC), is a girlboss and I love that about her. Easton, our MMC, is the CEO of Hooked - the dating app he and his friends created in college. The relationship is still rather insta-lovey. There is no real tension between the two, but the spicy scenes were well done. There's also no 3rd act break-up, which a lot of people appreciate. I kind of wish there was, but I'm a sucker for drama and groveling. I don't think enough was done here in the way of the grovel, to be honest. But, you can't win 'em all.
Overall, this was a decent read. I'm really intrigued by Holden's story because I'm a sucker for a single dad, and I want Saara to get a story because she is the best best friend. So I'll probably come back to this series to see what happens there.
Marni truly never disappoints! When top tier banter, spice, and tension, she has again given us a delightful workplace, second chance romance.
I loved reading this one. I just love this kind of books.
4 stars read for me. I love this author snd her writing style.
Thanks to netgally for this arc.
It’s the first Marni Mann book I read, but it will not be the last one. It wasn’t the overly emotional kind of book, it was more like a fun, light read. The steamy kind of fun and light lol. Oh boy was it a hot one. The story was flowing, and although it had a relatively easy plot, not at all dramatic it was enjoyable. I loved it. I loved the characters. Easton is the total package, hot, reasonable, down to earth, and oh my! he even had his romantic moments. Love was just as smart, sassy and lovable. Together they were over the charts steamy, so steamy I could almost see the steam coming out of my kindle. I loved how their relationships developed through time, and I especially loved how Easton and Love stuck together when things got a little rough, how they didn’t let one another go. Marni got some major plus points from me, for not using the “characters breaking up right before the HEA” romance book clishe behind. I think my most favorite parts were the interactions of the main characters with their friends. Easton with Holden and Greyson, and Love with Sara. They could be fun, but also supportive till the end. I really hope I get to read the stories of Holden and Greyson.
So in conclusion. It was a good book, and please sign me up for more of this “world”
I just finished Mr. Hook-up and it was AMAZING!!!! It was different than her books, I've previously read, but ... it was also so so good. Marni delivers emotional and beautiful love story, that I couldn't put down from the first pages. It was an absolute page turner, with delicious chemistry and angst.
Easton, the hero is a really good man, and I love to see him that way. Totally refreshing character! He's caring and loving with his whole heart. He's also focused on his life's goals, and KNOWS exactly how to get anything he wants. Drake was this big surprise for me... She's hard working young woman who really doesn't need saving. She's honest and brave and I loved that in her.
Their relationship might be classified as insta love but author doesn't make anything easy. They had to deal with lot of things before they will find way to each other again, and author showed it in brilliant way. I loved romance but also how Marni is telling us thru the pages, that ife might be hard sometimes, but somewhere in the universe there's one perfect match for everyone, and it's worth to fight for Your own happiness.
I loved the story, I loved all the twists and especially how Dreake and Easton together.
A very paced, spicy and an an intensely interesting read. Mann knows how to deliver it, and I’m all here for it
An easy read with likable characters. I enjoyed the storyline and the lack of drama between our MCs. The relationship and attraction was believable and I was rooting for them from the beginning. The balance of story and spice was just right. I would have liked a bit more depth or have scene some character development, but I dont think the lack of it took away from the story and don't believe that was the goal of the author for this book.
“There’s a reason we matched perfectly. I’m destined to figure out why that is.”
Mr. Hook-Up was fast, breezy read with a fun storyline and characters. Easton and Drake were instantly drawn to each other and I loved watching their relationship develop. Their connection was intense and their chemistry was off-the charts.
“It wasn’t like we were anything, but Love and I were something. Something that mattered to me.”
I will admit that I struggled with the first part of the book because of the tone of the messages. The hiii drove me crazy, and I had trouble relating it to the characters I came to know in the second half of the book.
“It’s been you this whole time.”
The second half of the book was great and engaging. I was completely immersed in the attraction between Easton and Drake and their fun, flirty banter. I loved how they supported one another and talked through their issues and actually listened to one another.
I enjoyed Mr. Hook-Up and found it to be lighthearted with a bit of angst and the steam was hot and spicy. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.
I wanted to read something light after finishing a heavy book and this was perfect. The story is split into two parts and part 1 felt kinda insta love-y with a fair amount of spice and not a lot of character development. However part 2 really made up for it and I loved the second chance, workplace romance. We got to know so much more about the characters and I liked that in this section the chapters rotated perspectives. The side plot about the app got really entertaining and I couldn’t look away from the drama. The last quarter of the book was so good I hope there ends up being more books in this series.
