First off I really liked Jackson, and I liked the storyline. I just wasn't taken with Vanessa, she's a successful lady with life rules (a bit like Gibbs in NCIS!). When Vanessa defrosts a little it certainly gets steamy between the pages but I still didn't take to V

I'm not normally a huge fan of contemporary romances but this ARC was way overdo for a read so I gave it a go. Overall I did enjoy it but the heroines overreaction of the hero keeping something from her kinda ticked me off. Personally I didn't think his secret was all that big of a deal and in some ways it was kind of sweet and romantic. <spoiler>When she arrives to the resort where her friend is getting married. The hero (the brides brother) lies and says they have to pretend to be the married couple mostly because he wants to spend more one on one time with her after he fumbles their first meeting. She intrigues him right off the bat and he's pretty focused on getting to know her. He does plan more than once to tell her but either the moment is never right or something interrupts them. </spoiler>The hero is a fighter and the heroine a lawyer but their professions are such a minor part in the book. Much of the book is spent on the two bonding and getting to know one another. The heroine also introduces the hero to her list of rules to live by. Really they are rules to keep her from getting hurt and he's nothing if not determined to help break her out of her shell. The two have major chemistry and I did enjoy watching their relationship develop. I wouldn't say they have an insta-love connection so their being in love after less than a week fell a little flat but it was a sweet and fun read watching these two (usually) casual daters find love.
