Poppy and Sam and the Hunt for Jam is the 4th book in the Poppy and Sam series, of which we have enjoyed two others. This is an introduction to graphic novels for young readers as well as delivering a message about cooperation, friendship and sharing. Sam wakes up early from hibernation due to hunger, and decides he wants to make some rosehip jam. He looks for his pot and realizes that he has loaned it to a friend. Off he goes to get it back and one thing leads to another. Sharing what he has, and doesn't always want, leads the reader on a charming treasure hunt for the ingredients he needs to make his jam. We meet some his friends and he even makes a new one. Ursula, the bear cub who was also too hungry to sleep has the last needed ingredient. The three friends enjoy a delicious snack and then everyone settles in to sleep again. This is a delightful tale that opens the reader up to graphic novels, if they have not read them before. The illustrations are well done and add to the story, as well as picture clues for early readers. I like the subtle messages in the book and will be sharing this with my grandkids when I return home. I know this is one that the two oldest will be able to read themselves which is something I always look for. As my grandchildren are in French Immersion, I might try and find this in the original language for them as well.
‘Poppy & Sam and the Hunt for Jam’ by Cathon is the fourth graphic novel in the series for young readers.
Poppy and Sam are hibernating for the winter when Sam wakes up with a craving for rosehip jam. The problem is that everything is covered in snow. Sam sets out to collect the ingredients from friends and makes a new large friend along the way, but can Sam make it back before a blizzard buries his home?
This is a charming series and the illustrations are sweet. Young readers can start with any volume and are sure to be delighted in this world and characters.
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. What happens when a little panda bear wakes up for hibernation with a craving for jam? Well this panda bear heads outside look for some, but he gets caught in a storm and must seek refuge in a cave and share it with a bear.
When Sam gets in the mood to make jam, the fact that there's a snowstorm raging outside does little to stop him. It's going to take a bit of help from his friends, including a brand new pal, to pull it off, but Sam is one determined panda.
A cute tale about friendship and kindness.
This is absolutely one of the cutest books I have read recently.

This was so cute! Adorable! I've not read the other Poppy and Sam books, but this has made me interested. It was a fun, wholesome story of cute characters and the journey to make jam. Short read, but a great introduction to comics.
Very cute children’s book, am keen to find the others in the series. Sure to be loved by all young children. Is sweet and just enough silly to have wide appeal.
This is the first book in this series that I have read together with my three-year-old. My child, who enjoys making jam, enjoyed the adventure that Sam has in the middle of winter to try and make jam with ingredients that aren’t readily available. This is a fun story that introduces children to comic books. This book was a hit for my thee-year-old, who has requested to read the other books in the series. This book is a good addition to any classroom or school library.

In Poppy & Sam and the Hunt For Jam by Cathon, Sam wakes up his friend Poppy. It is in the middle of winter and Sam is supposed to be hybernating. However, Sam is craving rosehip jam. Sam then goes into the wintery forest to find his friends so he can get the ingredients to make the jam. Unfortunately, he gets trapped in a storm!
Poppy & Sam and the Hunt For Jam is a fun picture book full of colorful and adorable illustrations. The story is fun and includes a couple of plot twists..
Sweet, cozy story for winter!
Sam wakes up with a mid-winter craving for rosehip jam. He doesn't have all of the ingredients on hand, but his craving is strong, and he is on a mission! Sam takes to the woods to find the ingredients.
Readers will root for Sam's success!
I love how the pictures are in frames and Cathon uses speech bubbles. It is great for young readers who may not quite be ready for graphic novels.
Thank you Owlkids Books and NetGalley for the gifted digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.
What an adorable continuation of the Poppy and Sam series! These strawberry-sized friends live in a whimsical world where tiny pandas live in hollowed out squash and make rosehip jam for mid-hibernation snacks. Poppy wakes up one winter day and decides to go on an adventure to collect the supplies for rosehip jam, but he gets caught in a snow storm! Fortunately, he finds some friends along the way who help him out.
Very cute art and story! Loved following the characters on their journey. Such a fun story for kids!
Poppy and Sam and the Hunt for Jam is an enchanting story showing the reader that despite considerable missteps, goals can still be attainable. The book also teaches us that friendships can be found in the most unlikely of places. Sam goes on a journey to find ingredients for rosehip jam. After several setbacks, or so he thinks, he is able to get all the ingredients he needs, meet a new friend, and help out his friend Poppy in the end. Ursula, Poppy and Sam show us that with the help of friends, anything is possible. This is a charming tale, and a spectacular addition to the Poppy and Sam series!
I received an electronic ARC from Owlkids Books through NetGalley.
Even if readers have not read the other three books, they will easily follow this story. It's winter and everyone is sleeping except Sam who wakes up and can't sleep any more. He is hungry and wants jam, and not just any jam, rosehip jam. He knows how to make it but some of the ingredients are not easily available in the winter. He set s out to find what he needs and bring it back to Poppy's to make. Along the way, he gets help from a variety of friends and even makes a new one. Ursula, the bear cub who was too hungry to sleep has the last needed ingredient. The three new friends enjoy a delicious snack and then everyone settles in to sleep again.
Easy to follow text for lower to mid elementary level readers. The artwork adds clues so they can read this themselves or share it with a group. A fun read with action and humor.
This was SO FREAKING CUTE. I absolutely LOVED this. It was such a fun story of adventure and Chance and new friends in the end! And who can argue with a snackle and a napsie?
This is the fourth adventure for Poppy and Sam. Sam is in hibernation and gets cravings to eat. He wants jam and sets out to collect the ingredients needed to make the jam. On his way back he gets trapped in a winter storm. With the help from Ursula, Sam makes it back to Poppy. This cute book teaches about sharing and helping others. Thank you to NetGalley, Owlkids Books, and Cathon for the ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily and is my own opinion.
