As a self proclaimed theatre kid, I really enjoyed this book!
The plot was solid and a lot of fun to read and the added musical references made it that much more fun. Theatre fan or not, I definitely think anyone could enjoy this book.
I did enjoy the slowburn between Eden and Brennon but I can’t help but feel like Brennon was a bit unlikeable. What he said wasn’t horrible by any means but I also don’t like that it was righted so quickly. I also think Eden could’ve used a bit more depth to her character. Her grievances felt a bit surface level and she seemed a bit overdramatic at times. (However, that definitely fits the theatre kid archetype)
I’m also not a fan of miscommunication in general unless it’s done extremely well and I think the amount of it in this book was just a little overkill.
Overall I devoured this book in three days and did have a really good time reading it. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a fun romance centered around the drama of the Broadway world.
3.5 Stars
I was delighted by this book, a fantastic story, I am a sucker for enemies to lovers and this was an intriguing twist on the usual trope. I am excited to read more by this author
Many thanks to the publishers and netgalley for this arc
In this steamy enemies-to-lovers romance, two-stage actors fall in love while performing and like the characters they play, learn to overcome their initial pride and prejudices. I loved the attention to detail of the theatre world. I really like the attention paid to the secondary characters and their story.
This was a delightful read with plenty of steam, the right amount of danger, and a fantastic romance. Could not put it down.
It took me a while to put my thoughts together on this one.
It has all the makings of a great romance book, but there were a few things that unfortunately made me a bit uncomfortable whilst reading.
To start with the good, I really did feel the romance between Eden and Brannon built up really well. It's definitely a slow burn, but I usually prefer a good slow burn romance.
Maddox and Adam were also cute as, and I loved following along with their side story.
The plot was really well thought out, and it had me excited to see what would happen next. I loved the attention to detail with the stage performances, different cities, and the explanations given on roles were easy to follow even as someone who doesn't know the ins and outs of theatre. I also really felt for some of the other characters and absolutely hated a certain few characters for their parts in this book, which was definitely great writing.
Now, the parts that werent so good. For starters, whilst I suppose Brennon wasn't supposed to be super likeable at first, I did honestly kind of hate him. It wasn't just things he said. His actions and even thoughts also implied that he thought less of Eden because of her past work and position. It was honestly kind of gross.
The next reason was throughout the book, there were moments where it was implied that the peoples' size or what they ate mattered. TW for the quote coming, but the book includes things like, "I'm assuming you'll add an extra half hour of cardio" when someone considered eating a strawberry tart. Yes, this might be something people who perform on stage consider, but it's also not just a once off comment in this book like I'd hoped, so I couldn't not mention it. It was to the point where one might consider a trigger warning for these comments honestly.
I mostly enjoyed the book, but those two things just gave me a bit of the ick, even if I was able to read past it.

Two stage actors playing Liz and Darcy falls in love just like in Austen's novel. I enjoy the Austen easter eggs... Eden and Brennon are great characters. I like the enemies to friends to lovers trope so this is terrific. Very funny and cute story.
Thanks to the publisher for the arc.
