A romance between a Highland Knight and an English lady who goes against societal norms and writes racy romance novels, a more fitting title for this novel would be His Scandalous Brit. Esme is a thousand times more scandalous than Cam is from her personal history to her embarrassing social faux pas to her being a published author! Cam was a rake until he met Esme but that was expected for men of his class--distasteful but not scandalous. Cam was also a bit of an ass but definitely far from the biggest jerk in Romancelandia! Most importantly, he loves Esme as unconventional as she is. Gotta love a man who fully supports his woman! He stumbles trying to cement their love story, but it's satisfying when he finally gets it right!

Rebellious Lady Esme has a secret—quite a few of them, actually. Warrior Camden is determined to learn them all. Can he win her heart while also protecting her from a killer?

This is a well-plotted and entertaining book. It's darker than I expected. The original branding of this series as Highlander romance rather than Regency romance seems more fitting to me. Camden is more of an antihero than a hero, for readers who like that sort of thing.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
