If you took beauty and the beast and changed it to have fae and mostly consist of spicy scenes, you would have this book.
I feel like the plot was strongly lost, and it was mostly just these two having spicy time or thinking about it. I finished it but definitely left me feeling let down in the end. I prefer my smut to have more of a storyline carrying it instead of just feeling like it’s an afterthought to the smut.

Audiobook

I will say the narration wasn’t bad, but I don’t think the narrator of the male voice suited the character as much as the female voice actor did hers.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the arc. All thoughts and feelings are my own.

I really enjoy everything this author does! This book was very good and I can't wait to get more from this author!

The book is a mix of different fairytales. Although I enjoyed these elements, the romance beteen the characters laked a bit of development. Still, it was a short and enjoyable read that left me wanting more. If you're a fan of Scarlett St. Clair's books, you'll likely enjoy this one too. It's a quick and cute story with a bit of insta-love, but it's fitting for the length of the book. I'm definitely interested in reading the next book in the series.

This was the first of the prolific Scarlett St. Clair's books I've read.

Mountains Made of Glass was a bit of a mashup of several fairy tales, including The Frog Prince, Rumplestiltskin, and Beauty and the Beast. Gesela is banished to live with the most beastly of the Elven princes, and a forced proximity romance ensues. The world-building had more of a "snippets of fairy tales" vibe than I am used to seeing in fantasy novels. The ending was solid with no cliff-hangers.

This was sitting in my library for half a year and I'm so glad I picked it up. It was a perfect book to get me back into reading fantasy. The plot and romance were enjoyable, but it was incredibly fast-paced.

This is the second book by this author I have tried to read and the first time I picked up this audiobook I DNFd is but I decided to give it another go. I think this author is just not for me. She had good world building but the character development was seriously lacking. The romance was way too fast coming into the story.

This fairy tale of Gesela love for her village family, she killed the one thing that she thought would free it. She wasn’t aware of the consequences of her choice.

This isn’t your ordinary fairytale, this erotic story feels almost reminiscent of the princess and the frog.
The narrator amazing voice made the story flow with ease.
loved this book; highly recommended

This was super interesting! Definitely a sort of beauty and the beast retelling you didn’t know you needed. At times, the story line got a little wonky but enjoyed this for the most part.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
4.5/5 STARS

Genre: Fantasy Romance

This is a short mash up of fairytale retellings. It can easily be read in one sitting. I have read Scarlett’s Hades x Persephone series and enjoyed that. This is different but very good!
She mashes up Rumpelstiltskin & Snow White as the main ones with a lot of other nods to Grimm’s fairytales. It is spicy with a fae enemies to lovers story. I will for sure be reading the next book in the series!

Sorry, this was a DNF for me. I loved the author’s Hades and Persephone books, but this fell flat for me. Rather than enticing, if felt repetitive. Particularly the phrase “Violent Creature” which occurred so often, it really started to grate on me. Not the audiobook for me, though the narrators were great. I see I am in the minority though and many other readers have enjoyed the book. I am pleased for the author.

Thank you to the author, her publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to review an advanced copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

5 Stars!

I have read a few of St. Clair's stories and I really do love the greek mythology themes I normally see.
This series is so interesting and different (in my opinion) because greek mythology has been overdone.
She's moved into other fairy tale retellings with a spicy twist and its just, *chefs kiss*.
I will absolutely be following this series and I am SO excited to see what happens in the next book.

St. Claire just has the most amazing way of taking a classic and twisting it into a spicier tale... love it!

A haunting, sexy fairytale retelling. I could have easily listened for another 10 hours. Both readers brought life to the characters in very different ways. The story itself gave nod to the original tale, but provided more tension and adventure. A cast of characters with their own stories piqued my curiosity. I would love to know more about these creatures!

Thank you NetGalley, Tantor Audio, and author Scarlett St Clair for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I love love love fairy tale retellings. I also love this author. Check out this beautiful cover. This one was so dark and spicy. I did not want to put it down. I loved Beast and all his dark sexiness! Gesela was such a strong female character. The story was so awesome. A mix of beauty and the beast and Rumplestiltskin. Rumplestiltskin is one of my favorite fairy tales! I cannot wait to read the next book in this series. Thank you to NetGalley and RB Media for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

This is a short novel or long novella, so I didn't expect a ton of relationship development. What I did get was a mashup of new fairytales, chaos and steam. In some ways, it feels very different from St. Clair's other series--it's more episodic and less focused on the characters internal lives. In other ways, it's got the hallmarks of her other writing--riffs on classic stories, dynamic characters, surprise twists, grumbly hero and a strong heroine.
I found the audio quick and diverting and while the narrators (Javi Wilder and Lucy Rayner) could have done a little better syncing up their voice notes, it was a fun way to spend a few hours. This isn't making it onto my "Best of 2023" list, but it has me eager to read the next.

I love Scarlett St. Clair and this was another great story. To take a well known, often retold story and put her own twist on it was impressive. The narrators told the story perfectly and I was entranced the entire time.

This was a fairy tale retelling of the tale before it was sanitized, made from a warning to a fairly pleasant story. It was grim and dark, and I loved reading it! And of course, there was the weird and strange fairy things, like how hair could become an apple.

There were really no right choices. The village made her deal with the latest problem, in killing this frog-but the frog was cursed there. And was actually an Elven prince-who has 6 other brothers. Being punished to be the prisoner of the 7th brother, yeah, not a good time.

Their romance was delightful to read! I mean, it was dark, and the human prince giving romance advice had a skewed idea of love, and it was kinda hilarious how those interactions went, and it was when they were being themselves that they made the most progress.

I absolutely loved how things wrapped up, with the curse, with the human prince, and her home village, it was just so satisfying! There was a lot packed into this story, and it has me really excited to see where the series goes from here with the other brothers and their shards of the mirror!

This was a really great story, and I can't wait to get the rest of the retellings of these brothers!

This was a very short read. I enjoyed the concept of this, the retelling is pretty true to the original fairytale. The world building was ok, although nothing really to rave about. However, I do think the spooky atmosphere was done well. I did find the romance to be lacking for me. I didn't really find it believable. I think it needed to be slowed down a bit for the progression of the relationship to be realistic. There wasn't really much depth or connection for me to believer these two characters actually loved each other.

This is my least favourite Scarlett St, Clair book I've read so far.

As Scarlett stated, this is a weird one but I enjoyed it! I enjoye Scarlett so much!

The retelling/reimagining was fantastic. Scarlett does them so well for me. And as usual, the spice is great! I can’t wait for more in the series! Short, spicy and enjoyable

If Scarlett writes it, I’m reading it. I really loved this fairytale retelling. It was so descriptive and detailed I could imagine the world as she described it and I loved that aspect of the book.

"I wanted to beg for his touch just as much as I wanted to bury an ax in his chest."

Gesela and Casamir are the perfect enemies to lovers with a hint of lust mixed in. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole love to hate you vibe they gave. Gesela’s character is so fierce and confident. I loved the way she was written. She didn’t shy away from what she wanted and held her own against Casamir as well! Casamir’s character AKA the beast was hilarious and had me laughing out loud a few times. The way he wanted her and didn’t know how to act and the fact that he was the ultimate broody bad guy made me love him. Watching the angst and longing with him and Gesela before they finally gave into each other was everything I love in these enemies to lovers books.

“She makes me feel like it won’t matter if I have a name or not. So long as I know her, I will know myself.”
