Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Teen for a copy of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.

I am not sure what I was expecting with this book but what it ended up being was better than I hoped. It has everything I love – magic, fae, snow, dual POV – but at times I worry I am getting burned out by reading so many of the same types of books. This definitely was unique enough to make me question what would happen next while also feeling comforted by the knowledge that I know the general plot progression of this book. I don’t know why but I thought this was a standalone book and that is NOT the case (I hope?! PLEASE Entangled continue this series) because that cliffhanger/ending made me check 3 times already for a date about book 2. This is a good book to read as we approach colder (hopefully) temperatures here in the northern hemisphere, and I found it to be an enjoyable time.

In Omen of Ice, Keltania has been raised to be an elite bodyguard for one of the Winter Fey. Her people and the winter fey have had a symbiotic relationship ever since the war resulted in the almost complete destruction of magic. However, heir to the winter court, Valen, is nothing like Tania expected. And his secret puts the two in the center of a maelstrom that might destroy everything they know

In my opinion, Omen of Ice was just fine. It is standard fantasy romance fare with the main characters originally antagonistic towards one another, but with an undertone of romantic tension. However, the writing never made me become attached to either Tania or Valen. And the miscommunication trope was overused in this story. Finally, the plot twists were fairly predictable. I don’t foresee myself continuing with the story.

Loves this book. Couldn’t put it down! Great story and wasn’t a book that the plot was easy to figure out ahead of time. Loved it so much I got a hardcover.

I was provided an ARC of this book from Entangled Publishing. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This one wasn’t even on my radar when I stumbled upon the opportunity to read an ARC, but I am a fantasy girlie at heart and the blurb drew me in like a magnet. This book was AMAZING!!! Cannot recommend enough!!.

Valen and Tania were EVERYTHING I didn’t even know I needed.

Good world-building, loved the entire cast of characters and the wait for book 2 now…

Well, here I am. Looking around myself and realizing other readers either absolutely despise this one or think it's the top fantasy read of the year with few sitting in the middle going "Eh, I liked it enough." I can see how this being YA will alter some opinions and this was an odd one I think. We edged towards NA at times but swung back to lower YA at others and in general the pendulum just couldn't decide exactly the tone to set. No biggie- I didn't go in expecting adult so the variation wasn't too noticeable for me.

The plot in general is really interesting but it didn't quite sink in as deeply as I hoped and I'm going to lean into the idea that the character interactions was what snuffed out the flow a bit for me. There's a lot of banter which I love almost all the time, the dialogue is good, it just seems that we're relying a little heavier on these factors than the plot itself and descriptive setting elements.

Will I continue on? Yeah, I wont be jumping for it but I am still curious where this one is going to go and there is a lot of potential on where readers are taken next. Overall, a decent first book in a series, I just couldn't fully immerse myself in the flow of this one.

"When the right one comes along- human, fae, male, female- it doesn't matter- gender, lifespan- allegiances- you love who you love, Valen. It is the simplest thing there is. "

Keltania Tunne has spent her entire life training to be a Aphelian, a role she was taught is sacred. When she is called to be a bodyguard for the prince of the Winter Court, she doesn't expect for her presence to be unwanted and disregarded. But Tania is determined to prove her worth, and if the continuous dangers the spoiled prince seems to find himself in is any indication, her presence is needed despite his denial. But something isn't adding up and if the prince's violet eyes are any indication, than Valen is more than he seems.
Valen doesn't need or want an Aphelian by his side, especially after what happened to his last one and the secrets he is hiding. But when Talia refuses to fall victim to his wit and charm, or the nasty tricks he pulls on her, Valen reluctantly accepts her by his side. His secrets aren't the only ones in the Winter Court though. As he and Talia navigate the halls of the Winter Court and beyond, both Valen and Talia will have to decide to continue following the path they've been groomed for, or to risk everything they've ever known for the truth.

Druids and Fae, political scheming and royal intrigue, magic and mayhem, secrets and betrayal... Omen of Ice has it all making for a fun and easy read!

Having a druid as the FMC was new for me, and I looked forward to that, as I have only previously read about druid characters in historicals. However, I was a bit confused by the druid's history here, and even with the huge info dump at the end, the order never really made sense for me. I appreciated Talia's character and her take no sh*t attitude, as well as her dedication to her order. She believed in what she was doing, even after some of those views changed. Valen was a bit of a rogue and his quips of drinking and brashing while redundant, I could see them as the shield against the world that it was. I would have liked to see more of a romantic connection between these two, though I assume that will grow with further books in the series, but in this book it was very much PG and lacked any substance for me as a reader to connect with.

The world building by Jus Accardo was wonderfully done and I could easily picture the settings in my mind. All in all though Omen of Ice was just an okay read for me. I predicted the big twist early on and I found the ending to be lack luster. As I mentioned, there was a lot of info dump that unnecessarily drug it out. The book ends on a cliffhanger and I'm not sure if I want to continue reading to find out how if things work out. However, if you're looking for a YA fantasy full of adventure, this may be up your alley!

as provided an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This one wasn’t even on my radar when I stumbled upon the opportunity to read an ARC, but I am a fantasy girlie at heart and the blurb drew me in like a magnet— and can I just say looking back that it is a CRYING SHAME that I hadn’t heard of either this book OR author beforehand, because this book was an absolute BANGER, and I am O B S E S S E D.

(Entangled Publishing knows what they’re doing. Thank you for the ARC.)

Valen and Tania were EVERYTHING I didn’t even know I needed. Banter and tension at level 100. (No spice, but y’all 👀🫣)

Good world-building, a fun and compelling cast of characters-creature and otherwise- and some crazy twists that will leave you grumbling about the wait for book 2.

5 stars.

This book really brings you on a journey along with Tania and Valen, I loved the world and story that went along with Tania’s training to be Valens body guard. When you add a lawfully good Druid bodyguard and a playboy reluctant prince together, you’re going to get sparks. I loved the fast paced story line, dynamic between the main characters, the magic and the promise of more to come at the end of the book! I can’t wait to (hopefully) pick up book 2!

In this first book of a YA fantasy series, we are following Keltania. She is a druid warrior who has been training to protect her assigned winter fae. When she arrives at the Winter Court, her assignment isn't what she expected. Valen is the prince, but he is very uninterested in having her as a guard. He doesn't seem to care about much. The two begin to work together as secrets unfold and the two are forced together.

I found the premise very interesting and absolutely loved that the protector and druid was the FMC. She was strong and had a purpose. Valen had his reasons for how he behaved, but his attitude did bother me a bit. The pacing felt a little slow in sections, but that may have just been a me thing. I enjoyed the magic system and can't wait to see it expanded upon.

I enjoyed this book and will pick up the sequel to see what is in store for these two. I recommend it for anyone who enjoys YA fantasy, found family, touch him and die, and a subplot of slow burn romance.

Thank you to the author and Entangled Publishing for the advanced copy. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

This is the first in a new series and while it is YA, which I sometimes struggle with, this book was good!! It had magic, intrigue, mystery and just a touch of spice. The premise of the plot was great, our FMC was the body guard for our MC and that was a new one for me. I love their banter, and a badass FMC is always a win for me. The ending had me wanting more, and even though book 2 hasn't been announced yet as far as I know, I'm ready for it!

Book Review!
Thank you Brittany at Entangled for sending me this book!
Rating: 4/5 ⭐️
This is a fun new fantasy series I would recommend to anyone who is a fan of the genre! It follows a fae and a human who have to go on a journey together because they accidentally become linked. I loved following these two characters!
I thought it was great, my only thing was that I !personally! had a hard time following the world politics. However, I feel like the second book will be an easier read for me since I’m familiar with the world now!

I enjoyed Omen Of Ice quite a bit. The story is just full of unexpected reveals. Nothing is as Ketlania and Valen believe it to be.. The differences start with the points of view of their two groups. What Tania had been taught is so different that what Valen knows. That's not unusual between two vastly different groups. As the two set out on an epic journey to resolve some problems they find that most everything they "know" is not true. The pair are fighting for their lives, attacked from all sides physically and emotionally. Through it all, they find they really care for each other. The story was complex, intense and a really good read.

Thanks to NetGalley and Entangled:Teen for the ARC.

Omen of Ice is an entertaining and easy read that is sure to delight fans of the YA fantasy genre. Magic, Fae, Druids, and other fantastical creatures abound. The two main characters are both likable and compelling in their own respect, and the side characters we meet along their journey all contribute to the overall story. There are plot twists and revelations to keep you engaged through the entire book. The romance is a slow burn and I thoroughly enjoyed the banter between Keltania and Valen. Even though I did enjoy Omen of Ice, I did feel it was a bit surface level and lacked the depth it had the potential for. I’m hoping I’ll be able to shake that feeling with the next book, which will surely satisfy my craving for more of this world, as well as the magic and characters within it. Overall, a worthwhile read!

This was a fun easy fantasy romance read. The plot was entertaining and the characters were interesting.

I did find the developing romance to be a little clunky and it didn’t really hook me. I also didn’t find myself connected to the relationship the author tried to portray, and to be honest the MMC was kind of insufferable.

The plot twists are fun but very predictable and it told a similar story to a lot of existing popular fantasy romance reads.

I still enjoyed it but just wasn’t one of my favorites 🙂

What a wonderful easy read this book was!! The banter was so good, it reeled me in and I couldn’t put it down! The story line is also unique compared to other fae books I’ve read! Lots of twists and turns! Loved it!!

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this read! This is a great fictional romance. If you’re looking for adventure, action, comedy, and some romance this is for you. This definitely felt like a young adult book to me. There’s a handful of swearing (a few F-bombs) and some gruesome fights, but only a few steamy kisses… enough to make you fall in love with the couple. I enjoyed the story line and the plot twists (there were an absurd amount of twists) but it kept the book interesting.

I like the dynamic between Keltania and Valen. They grow together and it’s sweet to see their connection grow.

The ending definitely leaves us wanting more! I hope to read the sequel soon!

I instantly got hooked and couldn't put it down. I loved the story and how it developed. I loved Tania and Valen. I did think there was a lot of information at the very end but I'm ok with that. I will most definitely read the next book.

I loved this book! The banter between the characters was funny, realistic and believable, the world building and character growth were done with enough detail to give you great imagery and emotional understanding but not so much that it took away from the story, and the storyline was unique and original. I loved the FMC the most. She was strong, smart, determined, funny and her relationship with the MMC was probably one of my favorites of the year so far.
