I often include read alouds in my introduction that deal with mindfulness. It is so important for children to understand and process how they are feeling. I think this would be a helpful addition to my school library. I look forward to reading this allowed to my students.

This was cute, and I read it with my first grader - he enjoyed it as well. There were a few places where I think (hope) the eARC was just having formatting issues, because they were really abrupt changes in content and flow, but otherwise definitely one I would look for a finished copy of.

The Drama Llama is an adorable children's book that tells the tale of Alex, who is a worrier. However, every time Alex worries a real llama appears. The more he worries, the larger the llama. You see Alex's dilemma.

I feel like these types of books are so vital to kids, and I wish they'd been written 20 years ago. As a kid with chronic anxiety, I feel seen and heard in this book and WISH I'd had books like this to help teach me some tools to handle it. Even at 30, I feel like I've got a llama riding on my back!

A really cute book about working with your emotions. Overall a fun read, with cute pictures, and good life lessons.

In this book, our main character’s anxiety is expressed as a llama that shows up and disappears, shows up and then gets bigger, bigger, and bigger, and they have to learn how to calm the llama. The art is really fun and kids would like seeing it. The story rhymes well and does a good job at getting its point across. The biggest complaint about this book it’s a tad long and there are stands where she loses the cadence. It’s this loss of cadence that draws the story out. Places where the lines are shorter or don’t hit the same beats as others that stop the tongue making the story longer.

This was an absolutely wonderful book that was just so much fun to read. My 6 year old and I could not get enough of the silly llama.

Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book. These opinions are completely my own.

I now renamed my anxiety to Llama. I enjoyed the story and enjoyed the tips to calm the LLAMA at the end

This was just ok and could definitely help with teaching a child about self care and not neglecting emotions. I feel like it's been done before with There's No Such Thing as a Dragon, but a llama is just a trendy animal and "drama llama" is a trendy saying right now. It takes a long time for the book to explain what the llama actual is, and that would be confusing for a child to pick up on their own. Also thy rhyming at times felt like a stretch.

This book was a total joy to read, especially with those awesome illustrations that kids will love. The book has some helpful tips for dealing with anxiety and does a great job of encouraging kids to talk about their feelings with someone they trust. It's all wrapped up in a hilarious story featuring a llama that's all about drama. It's a clever way to show how getting tangled up in drama isn't good and can cause a lot of trouble. It shows how reaching out for help and talking things through is way better than keeping it all locked up inside.

The title lead me to think the book would be about handling drama with others. I like that the book talks about how a worry can grow when you don’t talk to someone. I just wish the book had a different title.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone with a young child who worries a lot or suffers with anxiety. I thought this book was very relatable to my own children and helps discuss the topic to them on an appropriate level. I often hear moms ask for book recommendations to help their child on this topic—this is it!

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

Great story helping kids learn how to deal with emotions. Alex gets stressed out over all kinds of things. A llama appears and gets bigger as he gets more anxious. Alex learns how to deal with his emotions by learning how to tame his llama. In the end, there is a list of ways you can tame your own llama, such as soothing your llama. Fantastic advice!
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

This book was a sweet story about what can happen with worries and anxiety. When Alex's worries start to get bigger, the llama that comes along with them, also grows in size and is hard to lose. The story gives some techniques to help children in situations and how to navigate them. The book gave my youngest and I opportunities to talk about what helps us feel better and how we can approach new to us events. Throughout the story there are colorful and clear to follow pictures, which also help the reader(s) relate to the story and the message. Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for an advanced copy! All thoughts and opinions are my own!

Thanks NetGalley for the advanced reader copy. The Drama Llama portrays emotions as a Llama. The bigger the feelings, the more the Llama grows. Sometimes it even spits! The book does a great job encouraging kids to talk about their feelings with a trusted adult.

This is a super cute book that comes up with a fun and funny way to talk about worries. It addresses the very natural urge to get rid of anxiety and how it can grow and grow if not taken care of appropriately. I also loved the tips at the back of the book. Would be great for a parent and child to read together or for a classroom SEL lesson.
