This is one of those books that I really wanted to love. It started off great, and I was hooked from the very beginning, but towards the middle things started to go off the rails - and not in a good way. I was like an entirely different book was shaping right before my eyes. Then somehow, we are brought back on topic for the last 30ish percent of the book for a twist(?) that was surprising yet illogical.
I feel like if the book was shorter, and more streamline ie. stuck to the main plot, this could have been a much better read.
Thank you #NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book. All opinions expresses are my own.

I missed my NetGalley review window but I read it and still have the opportunity to share my thoughts so here goes! I thought this was a fascinating concept that lost steam in execution, but is worth reading for the atmosphere if you're in the mood.

I liked The Clinic and appreciated that it was a departure from what I've recently been reading. Instead of an action-packed thriller, the book was more of a whodunit style mystery. Told in two perspective, Meg, a patient who is undercover as a way to find out what really happened to her sister and Cara, a new manager working at the clinic. There were a lot of cliches in the book, especially when it came to the addicts and the police, but the mystery aspect was solid. 3.5 stars.

This one started really strong for me, but really ended up losing its momentum. It was just an okay read...not super memorable.
I will check out future books from this author, because I think there is potential for me to love!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for access to this ARC! Yesss I loved this book. I want the psychical copy also

I couldn't put down The Clinic. I will highly recommend this title to my audience and look forward to reading more by Cate Quinn.

The Clinic was so interesting. Some new and unique and I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the beginning but struggled towards the end which I expected to be reversed. Overall not a bad read

Thank you to Sourcebooks Landmark for my advanced reading copy!
This was a thriller that definitely went off the rails very quickly. Meg infiltrates a clinic where her sister supposedly committed suicide, which she doesn't believe. This started off strong but quickly lost me. As a nurse, a lot of the medical aspects didn't make sense and was very outlandish, especially at the end. Everything felt disjointed within the walls of the clinic, which I understand is the point but it was too much in my opinion.

This one took a long time to get anywhere really. It started strong and about midway, I just lost all interest.

For starters, this was my very first Cate Quinn, and it will not be my last! I ended up listening to a finished audiobook for this, and it was phenomenally done - the different perspectives were well highlighted in production and it was easy to follow which is sometimes not the case. Second, holy buckets I did *not* see that coming - there is so much going on and so many morally and ethically grey areas that it kept me interested, and kept me guessing, right until the very end. Super super enjoyed this!

I flew through this (thank you for short chapters!!) and it was sooo good! I loved the aspects on addiction and mental health and thought it was very realistic.

The Clinic follows Meg after she learns of her sister’s mysterious death in a rehab clinic and decides to infiltrate the clinic to try and figure out what really happened.
This book was such a fun and wild ride. It took me about 100-150 pages to really get into it, but once I got to that point, I was hooked. It follows two perspectives: Meg, the sister who is a patient at the rehab clinic, and one of the staff members who does mostly desk work.
I really liked the inclusion of possible insurance scams, and fraud by the practice. And I also liked the discussion on how society treats those who have addictions. There was a lot of insightful things that were brought up and really made me question how we view drug addiction.
I also listened to this on audiobook and there were two narrators for the two different POVs. And I felt like both did such a good job in adding the emotion, but especially Meg’s narrator.
Overall, I found this to be a really interesting read, but with a slow build. I think this would be good for fans of Smile, Get Out, and A Cure For Wellness.

Overall, it felt very disjointed with so many sub plots and characters left dangling. A frustrating read.
I am definitely an outlier as this book is receiving very positive reviews. So be sure to read all the four and five star reviews before making a decision.

The Clinic Review!
Remote settings are probably my favorite settings to read, so I was very excited for this one! The Clinic was a 2.75/5 ⭐️ for me! While I did love the setting for this one and some of the twists were absolutely bonkers, it fell a little short. It was pretty slow for a majority of the book and the characters were pretty unlikable. 😅 Would recommend if you like a twisted secluding thriller!

I was so excited to read this because I've been really in the zone of mystery/thriller/suspenses after nearly a decade of being totally off of them AND because it's set in the Pacific Northwest, my lifelong home. I was actually imagining that Quinn was inspired by the real-life story of Linda Hazzard and "Starvation Heights" (look it up if you're not aware, infuriating and fascinating in equal measure) but alas. The premise and beginning were intriquing to me but as many others, I found some of the treatment of mental illness careless at best, and there was also a weird connection to gender affirming surgeries that just felt icky. Not one I'd recommend widely, unfortunately.

If you love thrillers set in remote locations just as much as I do, then look no further than THE CLINIC by Cate Quinn. This was so fun and spooky -- the perfect book for a binge-read session!

Thank you to Netgalley and the Publishing Company for providing me this Advanced Readers Copy of The Clinic by Cate Quinn!

As far as thrillers go, this one fit a lot of the typical tropes and was interesting enough. It wasn't, however, particularly new or different from what many thrillers have done in the past. The unavailable and self-medicating FMC, conspiracy theories and false twists around every corner, and the actual twist was just a slight variation of something I predicted near the beginning. That being said, as a fan of thrillers, I still enjoyed reading this, I just didn't find anything groundbreaking in it. I definitely recommend it to thriller lovers who are happy with the typical tropes found in the genre.

From the start, you know there's something wrong with this clinic. The practitioners are questionable, the setting is too remote, and the clients are of high society-- something is bound to go very, very wrong. You'll be rooting for a couple of likeable characters while hoping more than one gets their comeuppance!

An absolutely haunting and chilling read. This was hard to put down. The lengths that someone will go to prove that things are not as they appear - and yet, there are twists that are going to make you gasp with surprise.
Fascinating and engaging!
