The Clinic setting was so creepy and I loved it. Great read definitely kept me turning the pages, speaking of pages could have shortened it by about 100 pages. The ending wasn't jaw dropping but I liked it. It's a solid read. Thank you Netgalley and SourceBooks Landmark for the ARC in exchange for my review.

A good atmospheric thriller that was a page turner for sure! It felt a bit too long by the end though but I liked a lot how things ended and wrapped up and had a nice meaning behind the whole book
I was shocked by the initial twist but was more surprised by the secondary one. At times, it felt a bit long but I enjoyed the book overall!
This book had me from the start! It did a great job of giving up back story about the characters and really building up their childhood trauma and how that’s affecting their adult lives now. I was on the edge of my seat for a lot of the book and it ended perfectly! Nothing was too out of the box and it was realistic while still making me think “wow, I can’t believe that happened!”
Meg works for a casino playing cards and catching cheaters and she is quite good at it despite her addiction to oxycontin and alcohol. She finds out her sister, a famous Hollywood actress, has checked herself into a high-end rehab and ends up dead. She hasn't been close to her sister in years but she still can't believe she could be dead. The detective in her decides to check herself into the same rehab to find out what really happened to her.
There is a lot going on in this book wiith the story line and characters changing. It felt like the author was wanting to tackle a lot in this thriller - addiction, gambling, addiction treatments, psychological diagnoses and family trauma. With the Author's Note at the end, I can understand why these were important to her to include in the book, but it felt like too much.
My thanks to Net Galley and Sourcebooks Landmark for an advanced copy of this e-book.
Before starting this book, I thought it would be worth a read as the synopsis made it sound so, so good! This book was quite simply okay and nothing more. I wasn't a huge fan of it, as it was hard to keep up with who was who. I did like some of it and the mystery that surrounded the premise. I give it a strong 3 stawrs.

The story follows Meg, a woman who works for a casino in Los Angeles catching cheaters. Meg is also struggling with her own addiction to pain pills and alcohol. When her sister, Haley, a famous actress, dies at a remote rehab clinic on the Oregon coast, Meg doesn't believe the official story that it was a suicide.
Determined to find out what really happened, Meg checks herself into the clinic undercover. As she delves deeper into the truth about her sister's death, Meg also has to confront her own demons.
The Clinic is a suspenseful and twisty novel that will keep you guessing until the very end. It's a great read for fans of mysteries and thrillers.
This book sounded so good when I read the synopsis and it started off really well, but it started feeling like it was dragging about a third of the way through and I felt like the finish fell slightly flat to me. I enjoyed the different characters and the setting, but wish that the plot had moved along faster, because I struggled with getting through the middle of the book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebook Landmark for the ARC. All thoughts in this review are my own.
The Clinic uses two perspectives to tell the story of an experimental rehab facility; each character solving a different mystery (in a sense). It IS long, but despite its January release it'll be a great summer read.
Meg goes undercover to figure out what really happened to her sister. The Clinic is not the place is appears to be, but Meg is going to get answers! A fun, twisted ride.
This book was a little out there, but I’ll admit it really had me hooked at the same time! I loved how binge worthy it was!
Book Review
The Clinic by Cate Quinn
⭐️⭐️ ⭐️
This started off very strong and kept steam throughout the whole book, but there was way too many over-the-top parts and parts that just would not happen in real life. Extremely unbelievable parts.
I absolutely love when a book teaches me something and this book taught me a very interesting thing regarding how rehabs are run.
The Clinic was extremely fast paced and had short chapters and 2 alternating POVS. all things I genuinely enjoy in a book.
*****SPOILER*******
Dislikes : extremely totally over-the-top stuff, especially the part about her getting fingerprints off the note through a phone.
Thank you NetGalley and for the advanced treater copy. All views and opinions are my own.
The Clinic will keep you on the edge of your seat for the first half of the book, but I felt like it fell short the last half and I wanted more from it. I was throughly engaged with the characters and while I was able to figure out the twists, I still enjoyed reading this one.
💉SHUTTER ISLANDS VIBES

Quick synopsis:
‘Meg works for a casino in LA, catching cheaters and popping a few too many pain pills to cope, following a far different path than her sister Haley, a famous actress. But suddenly reports surface of Haley dying at the remote rehab facility where she had been forced to go to get her addictions under control.
There are whispers of suicide, but Meg can’t believe it. She decides that the best way to find out what happened to her sister is to check in herself—to investigate what really happened from the inside.
Battling her own addictions and figuring out the truth will be much more difficult than she imagined, far away from friends, family—and anyone who could help her.’
Quick Thoughts:
I LOVED the shutter island vibes so if you’re a fan of creepy clinics/hospitals/rehabs, be sure to check this one out!
The premise of this book caught my attention, and it delivered. I would categorize it more as suspence than thriller, but I was engaged the entire time. There are multiple points of view, that follow different perspectives on a death in a high-end rehab clinic. There were some issues glossed over a bit, but I don't really expect a deep dive into serious issues in this type of book.

Meg, works as an undercover security officer for a casino in Vegas, she has a history of self medicating and pushing away traumatic memories from her childhood. What will happen when she is forced to uncover those memories as she searches for the truth about what happened to her sister at a remote rehab clinic.
Things are not adding up as Megs search leads to unsettling discoveries about the present as well as the past.
This was a ride.
I was hooked right away. The build up was intense but it burned too brightly and fizzled out by the end.
While the ending did not match the pace of the book, I still enjoyed it.
The book packed a lot of intrigue, but then didn't know what to do with it.
This was a great read. Multiple pov’s. Intriguing from the start and held my attention to the very end. Will definitely look at other books by this author.
The Clinic was not what I expected in the very best ways. No clichés or tropes here!! Highly recommend and have already purchased several physical and digital copies for library collections.
This story drew me in from the start and kept me riveted throughout. Set in a luxury rehab center nothing and no one is what or who they seem. As Meg strives to discover who may have murdered her sister she learns about the other "guests" and tries to use her ability to read other players at the poker table to figure out their true personalities and motives. Great book!
