Thanks to NetGalley for my ARC in exchange for my honest review. This book will be published January 23, 2024.

This was my first time reading a book by this author. I would say it was an okay read. There were elements of the story that i liked, but I also felt that there were some issues.

For me, it took a while for the story to get going and at times it felt like there was too much going on at once. It wasn't really the page turner that I was expecting. I also found most of characters weren't fully fleshed out or described in sufficient detail. All of the female rehab patients started to blend together. Finally, the story is told in alternating points of view: Meg, the undercover rehab patient and Cara, the rehab manager. Sometimes it felt like these were two separate books.

The things I liked were the short chapters, the eerie setting/atmosphere and the twists at the end. I ultimately found the Matthew Priest mystery more compelling than the actual murder mystery and thought that element of the story was really well done.

This is my first time reading a book from this author. I liked the premise of taking place in a rehab facility. It was

as well done with a few surprises!

Thank you Net Galley for allowing me to read and review this book!

(Love the cover) 3.5 to 4 star read. I found this one intriguing at times, sitting on the edge of my seat. A few parts were slightly disappointing.. The character Cara bothered me for some reason. I just didn't care for her. Overall interesting. The authors honest note at the end got an extra star from me. Thank you Netgalley and SourceBooks for the ARC.
Very much appreciated

This was a fast paced and suspenseful thriller set in the world of a fancy drug rehab. There was a lot of misdirection and I even got fooled a couple of times.

Cate Quinn!!!! I think this was my favorite by her. I was totally immersed in the atmosphere and setting of this book. I really didn’t see the ending coming and couldn’t put it down to find out what was going to happen. I really enjoyed this and am excited about what comes next from Cate Quinn.

The premise of this book grabbed me immediately!
It is about Meg, a professional gambler, living her life when her sister, Haley am actress dies in an exclusive drug rehab. When it is revealed that they believe Haley’s death is a suicide Meg immediately doesn’t believe it and decides to find out the truth by taking matters into her own hands. She decides that she will check herself into this rehab to deal with her own addiction issues, and also find out the truth about what happened to her sister. The book is narrated and alternates chapters between Meg and Cara, the clinic manager. This is where it goes downhill for me. This book was one of the slowest and longest reads ever. It drug everything out for wayyyy too long. Not to mention I didn’t enjoy any of the characters, the plot twists were so incredibly over the top, and did I mention it was too long? I had an incredibly hard time finishing this book, but I was glad when I did.
On a positive note, this book does discuss the realities of drug addiction and treatment, and for so long that is something that many people did not want to talk about and still to this day don’t wanna talk about and this information some of it from what I understand, came from the authors own experiences in that perspective, and I thought that was amazing, and very brave of her to do.

What a page turner! This tense thriller set in a remote rehab clinic on the Pacific Northwest coast features an unreliable narrator, a cast of rehab patients who are accustomed to lying and covering up their bad behavior, and some definitely suspect clinic staff. When Meg checks herself in to find out what happened to her sister Haley, will she last long enough to find the truth?

Loved the idea behind this book and the twist at the end! The dial POV was confusing at first but ended up making so much sense! The characters were well written and you can feel the author’s connection to addiction. I’ve already recommended it and given the release date to several friends!!!

The Clinic
What a ripping ride! Fast-paced, twisty, and intense - the character building keeps up with the edgy storyline. Loved the author's wordplay and clear concise summations of her character's psyche. The best description of how this story is told is one of the author's best lines " I am not trapped here with a killer... they are trapped in here with me".An excellent must-read... looking forward to more

Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Landmark for my ARC in exchange for my honest review. This book will be published January 23, 2024.

This is my first book by this author. The premise sounded good: one sister checks into a rehab facility undercover to find out why her sister died under their care. But then it started to get a bit creepy with unconventional therapies and a small cast of patients who are all celebrities. While there were definitely some twists it was not the page turner I was expecting. Themes include trauma and addiction.

Kudos to the author, though, for sharing with the readers that she was once in rehab for alcohol addiction. This was the first book she wrote sober, so I applaud her recovery efforts!

Meg spends her days and nights catching cheaters at a Vegas casino - while feeding her addiction to pain
pills from her earned money. When she gets texts from her sister Haley, an actress, who is in a high-tech rehab facility to try to overcome her own drug issues, Meg decides to reach out to her, But. before she can. she finds out that her sister has apparently committed suicide by a lethal drug overdose at the rehab..
The story flies from there as Meg goes undercover as a rehab patient to investigate the circumstances of Haley's death and the questionable policies of both the staff and facility itself.
Characteers are very strongly defined and well place in the storyline as it unfolds.
Great suspense with moments of nail-biting tension as Meg begins the unraveling of a well-hidden
and dangerous treatment plan and drug treatment methodology behind the respected front of the rehab,
Another good, solid Quinn contribution to the mystery/thriller column.

This one wasn't for me... I really struggled to connect with any of the characters and found the text overly dry and descriptive without enough oomph to keep me engaged or intrigued. Absent that, the unlikable characters made it tough for me to connect to the story and I wasn't able to engender enough interest to finish.

I enjoyed this atmospheric thriller set in the Pacific Northwest. Told by 2 different characters worked very well. Would recommend!

This was a fantastic read! This was my first book by Cate Quinn but I have heard so many good things about her books, that now they are all in my to read pile. As someone who works in the mental health field I always love a book that is sent in an in patient clinic. It was described so well I could feel like I was there. I really enjoyed the alternating story telling between a patient and a staff member. I read this book very quickly because I just kept thinking "one more chapter." There are many twists and turns and it keeps you guessing. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who loves a mystery or thriller. Also, if you like any thing with a mental health aspect this is a great one. It described conditions well and in a realistic way, which is not always the case. Do yourself a favor and read this book!

This book has the makings for a great thriller! Remote location, undercover patient, homicide investigation, love interests, quirky, evasive doctor, unusual treatment.....the list goes on. It caught my attention in the beginning, then towards the middle slightly dropped but ended with a bang.
Meg, works undercover in a casino and is an addict, not wanting to change. She goes undercover to a clinic to investigate the suspicious death of her sister. It had some interesting twists and interesting info about recovery and psychology and some moments of humor.

Two words: FIVE. STARS.

I was fully immersed in this book from the very beginning, let me just start with that. I love a good twisted, medical/psychological mystery and this was exactly that. The story has a dual POV, which I also love. I had suspicions about almost everyone, but the very end…. just wow. It keeps you guessing throughout the whole story, you won’t want to put it down. I’m still thinking about the ending. Not a lot of books stay with me for a long time, but I know this one will. Couldn’t recommend this book more. Read it as soon as it comes out. You won’t regret it.

Loved it! The Clinic is the first Cate Quinn book I’ve read, but it won’t be my last! Themes of addiction, child abuse, family trauma and violence. Rich complex characters drive the story, led by Meg. Meg works undercover in the casino, bringing down bad guys. She self-medicates an old job related injury and a troubled childhood. After a grueling shift, she sees on the news that her estranged country star sister died of a drug overdose…while in treatment. With the help of her boss and her on again, off again romantics partner (an ex cop with connections) she checks into the exclusive, luxury treatment center to find out what happened to her sister.
A great locked room who dunnit! Perfect for fans of Sally Hepworth.

I loved this one!
Set at a spooky, fogged in, drug rehabilitation facility off the Oregon coast, this mystery had just the right amount of creepy and suspense!! When Meg’s sister Haley supposedly overdoses at the Clinic, Meg gets herself admitted to find some answers.
So much fun!!
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for this advanced copy. My opinions are my own.

This was the PERFECT October read! This book had me hooked right from the start, and I found myself itching to pick it back up again whenever I had to put it down. This one is FULL of twists, surprises, and shocking depth and emotion. It kept me on my toes the entire time, which I loved. It features dual POVs with minimal (if any) repetition between the two story lines which was amazing. The short chapters were also perfect.

I highly recommend this book if you are a fan of psychologically thrilling/gripping books, with plenty of twists, and a little bit of a spooky edge!

Thank you so much to NetGalley, the publishers, and the author for providing this ARC for me to read and review!

What a page turner! I love twisty mysteries and this did not disappoint. I felt like it was a fresh take on the "locked room" concept and the characters were really well developed. I will definitely be recommending to friends.
