Wow loved this book! Fast paced thriller I couldn’t put down. Loved the tension of the setting and characters and did not expect some of the twists and turns! Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Landmark for the ARC for such an enjoyable read!

Haley was an actress at a remote rehab facility, but word gets out that she has died there, and her sister, Meg, not at all successful like Haley but with her own addictions, checks in to the facility to find out what happened to her sister. What Meg discovers is a facility with its own methods for doing things, but a patient population that seem to be functioning as guinea pigs on these unregulated and new methods. The structure of this book is told by two people: Meg, and Clara, the clinic’s manager who is also suspicious of the methods being used. This book had a great twist in the plotline, and I appreciated the author’s note about addiction and how personal that topic related to the author.

Oh, what a ride. I love a good closed-door mystery and this one had it all, including one of the most illustrative descriptions of withdrawal I've ever read.

Meg works at a casino playing professional cards to find bad guys, popping pills and drinking to get through each day. One morning, she sees on the news that her sister Haley, a famous singer-wannabe actress has died at a remote rehab facility in the Pacific Northwest. Knowing she wouldn't have commited suicide, Meg finds a way to go to rehab, too--but not to get clean, just to discover who murdered her sister.

Meg arrives to The Clinic and is welcomed by Cara, the no-nonsense type-a manager. She meets Max, the tweed-wearing English psychologist and she hears about Dr. Lutz, the mastermind behind The Clinic. And then she meets the other patients, a veritable who's who from the pages of US Weekly and In Touch. Meg isn't entirely honest with what bottles and pills she brought and she's on the hunt to find her sister's killer as she starts getting notes warning her off and telling her to go home.

As Meg goes through rehab, as she begins to detox, her mind releases and she doesn't know if she's seeing things or seeing the truth. Questions arise from her childhood and who her sister really was and where she's going and how she's going to get there--and who are all these people she's in The Clinic with? Who are the people running it, and what are they hiding? And will Meg figure it all out before someone kills her?

This book was fantastic and had some great characters. There were some stutters toward the end, but the twists were good. I highly recommend The Clinic!

The Clinic kept me up reading late into the night! The story centers around the mysterious death of a celebrity while in rehab. It’s told from the perspectives of both the celebrity’s sister and the manager of the clinic, which gives insights into the internal thoughts of each character.

My favorite parts of the novel were in the interactions between the patients at the rehab clinic. The story takes several twists and turns, which is always interesting!

Overall, this is a great read, especially when you want to get lost in a story!

Besides being a fast paced thriller, this book is also a commentary on trauma, rehab, the mental health industry, and the detriment of labels put on people. When Meg hears that her sister has committed suicide in rehab, she knows that something isn’t right, she’s determined to get to the bottom of what she believes is her sisters murder. With her own addiction problems, and repressed trauma, she’s perfect to sneak in as a patient at the same facility. However, what she finds, there is wild. There were so many twists and turns and new pieces of information I had no idea what the ending was going to be and it was a doozy. It was definitely a great summer beach read that kept you on your toes the entire time.

Wow!! This book kept me on the edge of my seat from the beginning to the end. The story is intriguing, kept me guessing and moves at a super fast pace. Highly recommend for a thriller you won’t be able to put down!

Holy cow, what a banger this was!

I think this is one of my fave books this year. I was invested in finding out what happened to Haley and my need to learn what happened became more and more urgent as I got to know the various suspects.

A couple of times I thought I had it all sorted but NOPE! Great ending,...so good!

This is an intriguing concept, reminiscent of Stephanie Wrobel's novel "This Might Hurt" mixed with Steven Soderbergh's psychological thriller film "Unsane," shot entirely with an iPhone.

The story takes place in a rehab clinic and is told from two perspectives: Meg, a mandatory patient who seeks to unravel the mystery behind her pop star sister Haley's death, and Cara, the manager of the facility.

There are several qualities that captivated me and kept my interest alive throughout the book. The short chapters and the riveting tone in the second half, where the pace intensifies and curiosity is awakened, compelled me to flip through the pages faster, eagerly anticipating the heart-throbbing climax. The author's approach to mental health awareness, addiction, sobriety, and the psychological issues that underlie these struggles, combined with her own journey to celebrate sobriety, made the story engaging and realistic. Additionally, the jaw-dropping and unexpected twists, which I never saw coming, heightened my excitement and raised my expectations.

The plot surrounding the mystery of Haley's death and the potential involvement of one of the patients kept me hooked, encouraging me to concoct theories and guesses until the very end.

However, there were a few points that prevented me from giving this book a five-star rating. The narrators, particularly Cara, were not very likable, and it was difficult to connect with them. Beth, on the other hand, was more tolerable, especially as an undercover poker expert whose character reminded me of Natasha Lynn's Charlie from "Pokerface." Her struggles with personal demons, her rehabilitation journey, and her complex relationship with her sister made her more relatable. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Cara.

I also had some questions about the ending, which felt rushed and somewhat far-fetched, and some of the twists didn't fully resonate with me.

Additionally, the first half of the book was slow-paced and overly wordy, which didn't provide a promising beginning. Thankfully, the second half was unputdownable, smart, and attention-grabbing.

Overall, this is still a good psychological thriller with a genuine and thoughtful approach to mental health awareness. I would give it a rating of 4 out of 5 stars and definitely recommend it to fans of the genre who are ready to stay up all night devouring it in one sitting.

Heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Definitely one of the best books this year.

For the first half of the book I had super high hopes for how the story would end, however, I was a little disappointed in the ending. The setting and logistics around the clinic were my favorite part of the book which lead me to be a little disappointed when there wasn't more content focused on the rehabilitation process. I also found that there was not a ton of foreshadowing that lead to the conclusion of the story which made the ending seem a little rushed and random. With that being said as a surface read this was great. Fast-paced kept me reading large chunks of this book at a time. I'd suggest this book as a thriller "beach read" in the sense that if you aren't looking for a super deep story this would be a great choice.

This is a great thriller! The atmosphere is gothic and spooky. Drugs, mystery, and murder… what more could you want? Twists and turns galore and I definitely recommend reading this!

Overall a solid thriller with a great setting. The flawed and unreliable protagonist viewpoint holds you in suspense. I really enjoyed the psychological aspects of the links between trauma, addiction, and mental illness. The author did her homework and it was expertly written with breakthrough psychiatric research. Excellent book - I stayed up way too late finishing it! The ending has redemption for almost all characters and the twists are unpredictable!!

I absolutely loved this book. I couldn't quite guess what was going to happen and it got me thinking. Once I started the book, I couldn't put it down! It's thought-provoking, shocking and thrilling. I highly recommend this book.

I so loved this book. It was surprising & twisty while featuring dynamics like opioid withdrawal & family/ sister dynamics. So different from your average suspense, domestic thriller & so much more. Every one of the 5 stars is warranted!!

The Clinic started off as a fairly straightforward murder mystery. The twists took me more by surprise than expected considering that some of them I had half figured out but it went in a direction I hadn't anticipated. I enjoyed this quick fun read.

Love this crazy lady’s books, and as I manage a clinic of this nature myself, I cackled my way through this book.

3.5, I decided to apply to this ARC because the description immediately piqued my interest. The book, however, did not meet my expectations fully. The overall story line was great but it took an unexpected turn at the end that was not necessary at all. I felt like there were a lot of side stories and descriptions that did not need to be included. The book was told from the perspective of two people, Haley (patient) and Cara (manager of facility). I can’t figure out why Cara was also a narrator? did not make sense to me at all. On a more positive note, I really enjoyed all of the characters, and the book was generally an easy read. Just too long because of the unnecessary additions
