This book was very long and I think it could have been shorten down but overall this book got me into a roller coaster ride and i was feeling a bunch of emotions at once! I can feel the connection to the characters and feel their emotions such as rage from Dianna. The book is fast paced but you will be needing few days to read it cause its a thick book HAHHAHA. the action and the story keeps you hooked for sure!

"If you are going to be a monster, at least be a damn good one."

I loved book two in the Gods and Monster series with my entire heart. Samkiel and Dianna are a balm to my vengeful soul, and this story had me laughing, crying, and screaming at the fates for their cruelty. In The Book of Azrael, we watched as Dianna healed Samkiel's broken heart, and in The Throne of Broken Gods Samkiel returned the kindness. The story followed Dianna's villain era, as she reigns hell down over all her previous 'colleagues' who aided in the murder of her only remaining family member and the tether to her mortality. Samkiel must find a way to break through her grief and destruction to save her life and the mortal world.

There is a lot of hurt in this story. The betrayal and guilt from her sister's murder weighed on Dianna throughout the story, and AFTER THAT FUCKING ENDING who do we even trust anymore? I worry we can only trust the amata bond, but does it even exist? The last 20% was an absolutely wild ride, and the story and world grew tenfold.

Waiting for book 3 will be a study in patience I don't want to participate in... I need these two to get their happily ever after right fucking now. Samkiel is everything a book boyfriend should be ("a thousand worlds he has seen, yet when he dreams, he dreams of you."), and Dianna is one of the most badass FMC out there ("I saw it then. Saw why Samkiel loved her so damned much, even if he refused to say the words. He risked his crown, his throne, and the damned world for her because Dianna was a queen worthy of any king.").

Absolutely marvelous.

Amber has done it again.

This continuation to "the book of Azrael" was everything I wanted it to be. Violent. Gory. Emotional. Angsty. Self reflective. Literally had every trait a good fantasy novel is ought to.

Dianna is and I cannot stress this enough, one of the the BEST fmcs I've read in terms of writing. Her grief, her anger, her survivors guilt - all written to perfection. I've got to give it to Amber - she wrote her to be so realistic, without softening her up or attempting to make her nicer, less brutal, less morally ambiguous. Everything from her rage down to her redemption was so interesting to read about.

Samkiel is written to complete her. He doesn't fear her no matter how brutal she is in her attempts to scare him off. He recognises her for the heartbroken woman she is and refuses to give up on healing her. These two on their own are amazing but together they result in the most powerful fantasy couple I've read of.

The found family in the novel was also so interesting to read of! I loved Diannas interactions with them :)

One star off only due to the ending being more predictable than in the previous book, and some parts feeling over written.

Will DEFINITELY be continuing the series.

Thank you NetGalley for a copy of this book.

Book one was good, this was even better. Everything worked so well, the angst, the tension, the drama, the storyline, THE SPICE. It all just flowed so well.

Dianna has some amazing character development throughout this book, she starts off so broken and alone and ends… I guess technically less broken and less alone? I don’t know we shall see I guess 🙃

I loved getting a glimpse into the other characters too, seeing the dynamics from different perspectives was so interesting and gave a whole new depth to the book. I was also pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed a certain someone’s POV even if I still hate him👀

So many questions were answered in this book and yet I have so many more, I can’t wait to see what happen next even if I’m slightly terrified

This book was so enjoyable and so well paced and I can’t wait for the next instalment🫣

What a fabulous and emotional read!! I absolutely loved it ❤️!! I found myself laughing, smiling, and crying!! It is filled with angst, betrayal, forbidden romance, forced proximity and sizzling chemistry🌶️🔥!! Literally, everything you could possibly want in a book!! Be prepared because it ends on a cliffhanger just like book one did. Now to wait patiently for book three!! I highly recommend this book and it deserves all the stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!

It’s Not You, It’s Me… 2 Stars

I’m definitely in the minority since so many of my GR friends loved this second installment… but this just was not in any way what I expected, needed, or wanted the sequel to be. It was a bummer because I did really enjoy the first book, even with its imperfections. This definitely will appeal to folks, it’s full of drama and murder and steam (although, concentrated at the end). It just didn’t do anything for me re: plot, character development, the very mess formula/structure, the dialogue, or even the romantic arc. I found this needed a firm, agressive edit, with an eye directed to the dialgoue and formula. It was really stilted and uneven in parts, and I found the plot choices to be very flawed in terms of series arc. We spent too much time with Dianna being the anti-hero and divided from Samkiel, only for her to essentially do a total 180. The worst thing was that I didn’t care about anyone, which was a shocking turn since I loved Diana and everyone else in book 1.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an early copy of this book! Below is my honest review.

Honestly, I forgot what had happened in book one and most of the main characters. But eventually, I figured out who was who and the general gist of how book one ended. I loved seeing villain Dianna. Her grief was so real and raw and I felt it so hard in my heart whenever she cried for her sister. There were a lot of emotional moments in this book, as well as funny ones. I only wish that the Kaden plotline had come by a little bit more quicker.

Would I recommend this book? It’s very long but sure!

A really solid next book! Loved a lot of things about it, and it clenched the thirst I felt after finishing the first book. Can't wait to see what's next!

This was one of my highly anticipated reads for 2023 after I devoured book one! Book one ended on a cliffhanger that literally shocked my world and I couldn't wait to get my hands on book two because I needed to know what Diana's next moves would be.

Amber did an amazing job at writing this plot, the characters, and their growth. The amount of emotions, as a sister and reader, that I felt while reading was OFF THE CHARTS. This book made me cry, smile, laugh, and then cry some more. The book was a medium level of spice for me, and I enjoyed the actual plot of the book much more than anything else, making it so hard to put down once I started it. It was utter perfection. This book moves so quickly, it felt like I was on the best kind of rollercoaster ever, one I have no plans on ever getting off of because I need to know what happens next!

This was a book I stayed up reading until the late hours of the night because I needed to know how it would end. And Amber does an amazing job at ending it all while having me itching for book three. If book two is any indication, I cannot wait until book three comes out!

Thank you NetGalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review!

This book is amazing, I was desperate for more after The Book of Azrael and this hit every spot

My only issue is the length, it didn't need to be as long as it was. Lots of similar scenes and bland filler parts

Overall I can't wait to find out what's next, I did not see that ending coming!

Book Review 📚

A Throne of Broken God's by Amber V. Nicole - 4/5 ⭐

"A thousand plus worlds he has seen, yet when he dreams, he dreams of you".

Oh my. I went into this book with a completely open mind. I loved the Book of Azriel, it was such an intense yet satisfying read. But Throne of Broken God's definitely trumps it. It's a fantastic sequel with a superb storyline that keeps you hooked! It's a BIG book, but it's so easy to read you actually don't find it intimidating.

There is absolutely nothing predictable in the book (actually, neither books). I found myself questioning everything from the get go, but I'd never once figured it out. The depth of the characters is fantastic and I didn't disliking any of them, if anything I adored them all. This book kept me up way later then expected most nights, and even now I find myself thinking about it consistently! It's one of those books you just want to devour, the whole series keeps you on your toes! There are twists and turns in basically every chapter which, for me, just kept me intrigued.

Amber just has a way of writing books that are addictive and you can't stop reading them! There was so much pain and agony through the book that it makes you feel like your living it but it never once made me want to put it down. There are so many beautiful portrayals of anger and grief, it honestly couldn't of been any better to read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Rose & Star Publishing for allowing me to read this ARC - this is an HONEST review from my own personal opinion.

SO SO SO GOOD!!!! I can’t even begin to explain how obsessed I am with this book! A masterpiece that totally tore me apart and pulled me back together with such a crazy and chaotic force. The character, the secrets, the spice, and story are absolutely everything and make this book so addictive! Thank you thank you Amber and NetGalley for giving me a chance to read this incredible novel!

An entertaining sequel to The Book of Azrael full of twists and turns. It was a bit lengthy, though. Just like the first book, it's over 800 pages, but with that book, you flew through the chapters. And with this book, I found myself checking a few times if I was nearing the end. Additionally, I didn't find the extra POVs particularly impactful. But that cliffhanger... Wow. I'm really looking forward to book 3.

I got this arc in exchange for an honest review.

I don't really have words for how good this book was.... The ending will kill me until the next book. Poor Diana went through so much in this book and it was so heartbreaking. I need her and Samkiel to have a HEA...!

Wow!
Yous need to read this because holy me, oh, my!

I don’t even know where to start except I LOVED IT!
I couldn’t put it down and when I had to, it consumed my thoughts. There is nothing predictable about this book / series. It’s outstanding and truly creative. I love the mythology aspects, the worlds that have been created and the beautiful multiple POVs that give us extra depth into each character even Kaden!

The angst and heartbreak in this book is soul shattering, which leaves you begging for more!

“You led me out of my darkness, Dianna. Now let me lead you, or I can follow you into the dark, but there is no me without you. Not anymore. Do you understand?”
^^^
This line is pure perfection!
Amber has an impeccable talent of being able to write and portray that earth shattering, complex feelings of each character. She has written about complex situations such as grief in a tasteful way that delves into your heart and soul which leaves you feeling like it was you who lost a family member.

Don’t even get be started on that last 30% because them twist and turns in the story! Wow chefs kiss! I already need the third book. I knew after reading The Book of Azrael that this was going to be a brilliant series but boom two has surpassed all my expectations.

The depth of characters, world building, shocking twists and developments. It all incredible.
I think I may have a new rival for favourite author! 🖤

P.S. This series has been a slow burn where he falls first and the wait has been killing me but boy was it worth it 🌶️. It was spicy, hot and beautifully written.

* I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this book. All thoughts are my own.

This was a great continuation of Samkiel and Dianna’s story. While I loved the growth and romance, the beginning dragged on a bit for me. I understand why the story happens the way that it does so it doesn’t super take away from the reading experience. Also, while the first book was long and flew by, this one you could just feel how long it is.

I’ll absolutely read the next book in the series and recommend this one, but I need a palate cleanser after this!

5⭐️ 3🌶️

- MF
- Epic Fantasy
- Found Family
- Betrayals
- Fated Mates
- Revenge

Holy forking shirtballs. This was absolutely amazing. I know that this was a beast of a book but trust me, it was worth it. It needed to be this long so there was time for grief, rage, vengeance, and healing. This book gave me everything I wanted. Literally everything.

This book picked up right where the first one left off and it was devastating as expected. Dianna was broken seemingly beyond repair. But Samkiel refused to give up on her no matter what she did or how hard she pushed him away. My heart broke for everyone. I was rooting for Dianna to get her vengeance in the most brutal way possible and she did not disappoint but I also needed her to be redeemed and find the love and family she had been denied for the last thousand years.

This book broke my heart in the best way possible. I suffered right along with Dianna and Samkiel. But the book wasn’t all bloody vengeance and broken hearts. There were so many happy and silly scenes too that brought me so much joy. If I don’t find fanart of Samkiel at the beach I’m going to cry.

I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself until the next book. This book hangover is going to last a while. Amber is an evil genius.

I liked this book. Not quite as much as the first one though. The first maybe 20% started to get a bit repetitive, Dianna gets mad kills everyone and destroys everything. I understand where she was coming from with the anger though. But after that it got better especially when she stopped all the destruction. I really like (most of) the characters in this book especially Reggie. The ending definitely left me wanting more so I will absolutely be reading the next one(s).

This book was absolutely addictive! I couldn't put it down and I just wanted to keep going. It touches on grief and guilt and the relationship between the two. It offers multiple points of view and it is kind of slow-paced. It is a fantasy fiction read with lots of action and beautiful relationships. This is the second book in the series and it DOES end on a cliffhanger, so bear that in mind when devouring this read!
