I don't really have words for how good this book was.... The ending will kill me until the next book. Poor Diana went through so much in this book and it was so heartbreaking. I need her and Samkiel to have a HEA...!

Wow!
Yous need to read this because holy me, oh, my!

I don’t even know where to start except I LOVED IT!
I couldn’t put it down and when I had to, it consumed my thoughts. There is nothing predictable about this book / series. It’s outstanding and truly creative. I love the mythology aspects, the worlds that have been created and the beautiful multiple POVs that give us extra depth into each character even Kaden!

The angst and heartbreak in this book is soul shattering, which leaves you begging for more!

“You led me out of my darkness, Dianna. Now let me lead you, or I can follow you into the dark, but there is no me without you. Not anymore. Do you understand?”
^^^
This line is pure perfection!
Amber has an impeccable talent of being able to write and portray that earth shattering, complex feelings of each character. She has written about complex situations such as grief in a tasteful way that delves into your heart and soul which leaves you feeling like it was you who lost a family member.

Don’t even get be started on that last 30% because them twist and turns in the story! Wow chefs kiss! I already need the third book. I knew after reading The Book of Azrael that this was going to be a brilliant series but boom two has surpassed all my expectations.

The depth of characters, world building, shocking twists and developments. It all incredible.
I think I may have a new rival for favourite author! 🖤

P.S. This series has been a slow burn where he falls first and the wait has been killing me but boy was it worth it 🌶️. It was spicy, hot and beautifully written.

* I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this book. All thoughts are my own.

This was a great continuation of Samkiel and Dianna’s story. While I loved the growth and romance, the beginning dragged on a bit for me. I understand why the story happens the way that it does so it doesn’t super take away from the reading experience. Also, while the first book was long and flew by, this one you could just feel how long it is.

I’ll absolutely read the next book in the series and recommend this one, but I need a palate cleanser after this!

Holy forking shirtballs. This was absolutely amazing. I know that this was a beast of a book but trust me, it was worth it. It needed to be this long so there was time for grief, rage, vengeance, and healing. This book gave me everything I wanted. Literally everything.

This book picked up right where the first one left off and it was devastating as expected. Dianna was broken seemingly beyond repair. But Samkiel refused to give up on her no matter what she did or how hard she pushed him away. My heart broke for everyone. I was rooting for Dianna to get her vengeance in the most brutal way possible and she did not disappoint but I also needed her to be redeemed and find the love and family she had been denied for the last thousand years.

This book broke my heart in the best way possible. I suffered right along with Dianna and Samkiel. But the book wasn’t all bloody vengeance and broken hearts. There were so many happy and silly scenes too that brought me so much joy. If I don’t find fanart of Samkiel at the beach I’m going to cry.

I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself until the next book. This book hangover is going to last a while. Amber is an evil genius.

I liked this book. Not quite as much as the first one though. The first maybe 20% started to get a bit repetitive, Dianna gets mad kills everyone and destroys everything. I understand where she was coming from with the anger though. But after that it got better especially when she stopped all the destruction. I really like (most of) the characters in this book especially Reggie. The ending definitely left me wanting more so I will absolutely be reading the next one(s).

This book was absolutely addictive! I couldn't put it down and I just wanted to keep going. It touches on grief and guilt and the relationship between the two. It offers multiple points of view and it is kind of slow-paced. It is a fantasy fiction read with lots of action and beautiful relationships. This is the second book in the series and it DOES end on a cliffhanger, so bear that in mind when devouring this read!

The Throne of Broken Gods follows Dianna on her journey to cope with the loss of her sister Gabby. The emotional anguish and guilt that Dianna feels in this book is written so beautifully it had me in tears the majority of the time. Amber Nicole does a great job of pulling at your heartstrings when it comes to not only Dianna's feelings but also Samkiel's. The multiple POV aspect really helps you understand how each character was feeling and where they stand. I will have to say though I could smell the betrayal a mile away. Vincent is the worst!!

Thank you to Amber and Rose & Star for an eARC of this book. All opinions below are my own. This review will not include spoilers

Please do yourself and read both The Book of Azrael and Throne of Broken Gods. Amber has created such an amazing world and such a great cast of characters.

I think I felt every emotion there was to feel while reading this book. You are right there with Dianna through the emotions that came at the end of the second book and her own reckoning with what happened. This books handles so much heart breaking and mending and in so many different ways. Amber truly writes in a way where no matter who it is, you feel for them and you can relate to them (even if you never thought you could).

There are some twists that I guarantee you will absolutely not see coming. Twists that will change the fabric of the world the characters are living in. This book continues on with the truly great world building that was established in book one and expands in a way that feels seamless and not like it’s being shoe-horned in solely to move something along in the story.

Book of Azrael was one of my top books of 2022 and I already know that Throne of Broken Gods is going to be a top book of 2023. I cannot wait for others to read this book.

(spoiler free review)

This is the second book in the Gods and Monsters series by Amber Nicole, following up The Book of Azrael. I read TBoA last year and really enjoyed it, so I've been anticipating this book after the whirlwind that was TBoA

The Throne of Broken Gods did not disappoint at all. It was really good, and I think I liked it better than TBoA! I do think it was longer than necessary, but the pacing has improved since TBoA and TToBG is not repetitive, so even though it felt long I didn't get tired of it.

I love how we get to know the characters and side characters better in TToBG and I really became attached to all of them. We also get to know the big bad a little better, which I enjoyed (surprisingly).

🌶️ ALSO there is just the right amount of spice!!! 🌶️

The Throne of Broken Gods comes out in ONE DAY (May 23rd), so if you haven't read The Book of Azrael you have enough time to binge that and then jump right into The Throne of Broken Gods! This series is on Kindle Unlimited if you have that!

Thank you to Amber Nicole and Rose and Star publishing and netgalley for this ARC!

Thank you to Amber Nicole and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

"The Throne of Broken Gods" by Amber Nicole takes readers on a rollercoaster of emotions, packed with passion, anguish, and tender moments. The romance between Samkiel and Dianna is nothing short of immaculate, with their raw intensity and fluffy scenes that will leave you yearning for more.

One standout aspect of this book is the attention given to side characters. The level of focus and their development is simply amazing. With multiple points of view, including Logan, Cameron, Xav, and even Kaden, readers get to experience the world through their eyes as well. Cameron and Xav's story, in particular, holds great interest, especially considering the ending. Their anguish and pain create a captivating dynamic that leaves you rooting for their happiness.

Kaden, on the other hand, is a character that evokes conflicting emotions. While you might expect to despise him, there is something about him that hints at a possible redemption arc. The author cleverly presents his complex personality, making you question his villainous persona. This portrayal challenges the traditional notions of good and bad, showcasing the multidimensional nature of villainous characters.

The book ends with a partial cliffhanger, setting the stage for the next installment. While not as shocking as the previous book, it still leaves you reeling and eagerly anticipating what comes next. Dianna's journey in this book is captivating as she grapples with her traumatic loss, consumed by grief and driven by revenge. The author skillfully allows Dianna to explore her morally grey side, wallowing in her emotions and breaking free from societal restraints. The exploration of her character arc is commendable, and the portrayal of a morally ambiguous and villainous female character is refreshing.

Amber Nicole's storytelling prowess shines in this sequel. The plot is magnificent, brimming with suspense, major plot twists, and a beautifully complex web of intrigue. The writing itself is captivating, with prose that will leave you melting into the story. The world-building and lore are even more fascinating and well-developed than in the first book, revealing answers to previous questions while unveiling new mysteries.

The characters in "The Throne of Broken Gods" are truly the heart of the story. Dianna's journey is transcendent as she grapples with her grief and seeks revenge, while Samkiel's unwavering loyalty and love provide a solid foundation for their relationship. The supporting characters, such as Camilla, Imogen, Neverra, Logan, and especially Cameron and Xavier, add depth and complexity to the narrative. Their friendships, betrayals, and unwavering support create a tapestry of emotions that keep you invested in their stories.

The book masterfully combines humor, devastation, action, romance, and betrayal. It leaves you wanting more, desperate to uncover what happens next in this gripping series. The trigger warnings should not be taken lightly, as the book delves deep into intense emotions and contains explicit content.

In conclusion, "The Throne of Broken Gods" is a masterpiece that will leave you utterly destroyed, yet craving for more. Amber Nicole's intricate plot, mesmerizing characters, and skillful world-building create an unforgettable reading experience. Prepare to be immersed in a story that will make you laugh, cry, and question your perception of good and evil. With its blend of enemies-to-lovers, morally grey characters, and tantalizing intrigue, this book solidifies its place as a remarkable follow-up to "The Book of Azrael."

After losing her sister, Dianna spirals in her grief and goes on a rampage to get revenge on those who wronged her. Meanwhile, Samkiel is drowning in loss too - but the loss of Dianna is what’s affecting him while he tries to decipher the secrets of his family’s past, and how to kill Dianna’s former master Kaden. Samkiel’s first priority, however, is bringing Dianna back from the darkness that has been consuming her, and preventing the end of the world.

This book was a lot. I really appreciate when fantasy novels give a realistic take on grief and loss, and handle the emotions in a really true way. Dianna’s way of burying her emotions felt true to reality (even if there were some supernatural consequences) and I loved seeing her work through it with her friends. I also had a lot of theories during book one that got proven correctly in this book so I was super excited (and horrified) by it and I’m super excited to see if my newest theories are correct as well in book three. This book felt like it could have been a little shorter but I think it benefitted from the time jumps in the chapter titles so we understood that this wasn’t just all happening over the course of a week as is so often the case.

Plot- 2/5🔆
Spice- 2/5🌶️

After reading the first book I was SO excited to start The Throne of Broken Gods. I was disappointed in the set up of this book. Initially it started out great, with Dianna going on a vengeful rage. That hardly ever happens for our FMC so I was all for it. Get it girl. But then her guilt/shame/pity/trauma spiral just kept going, and going, and going. The plot of the book was at a standstill and everything revolved around Dianna not being able to cope with her trauma.... and stabbing everyone in the process. I love a healing journey but this went on too long, especially when the first book had such a quick plot line. This book felt like it was at a standstill. About 70% into the book, things start picking up again and Dianna and Sami make up, etc. Then the last 30% of the book was jam packed with all the plot. I wish the author would have spent more time focusing on that 30% because it gets really good at the end and I wanted more of that. It almost felt rushed at the end.

Things I liked:
🔘Enemies to lovers
🔘Slow burn
🔘FMC as a villain
🔘Cliffhanger

There is a sprinkling of some nice spicy scenes throughout the book with different character couples. I would have enjoyed them more if I was not in a depressed slump reading about Dianna's self-loathing.

I was surprised this book ended on a cliff hanger because I thought this was just a duology series. I am not sure if I am invested enough to read the third book when it comes out. Only time will tell.

I still definitely recommend The Book of Azrael. It was so good. And if you read this book, just keep in mind the pacing is much different the the Book of Azrael.

'So, when the next book is coming?'

That was my thought after I finished this book. I WANT THE THIRD BOOK ASAP!!

So what this book has?
- multiple povs (this one is very interesting, we got to see different characters and the plot unravels from their pov)
- Angst. Lots of pain and angst. Be prepared for that though.
- BETRAYALS. Also come in a huge pack.
- Cliffhanger is a must!
- Tears. Yeah you need boxes of tissues coz you're about to spill tears over this book.

This second installment was absolutely, tremendously, soooo goooodddd! The plot was perfectly written including how the character handled the grief and pain, it was realistic and brutal, yet needed. Amd Samkiel.. How to find a Samkiel for me? I NEED HIM.

And the side characters were great too. The multiple povs also worked well and not confusing at all. It made the storyline better.

And the ending? Ugh I need the next book asap pls. I want them to be happy together but I know it was a high price to ask 😔

I think I just found another favourite author 😊 her writing really clicked to me and I'm a very picky person when it comes to writing. Some famous writers/authors' writing didn't stick to me, so I tend to rate their books lower because of that, but now I finally find an auto-read author for fantasy.

The Throne of Broken Gods follows Dianna, as grief consumes her, ripping away any hint of humanity as she burns the whole world, killing all who hurt her. Now, only Liam can save her from herself..

👉🏼𝑴𝒚 𝑻𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔
🥹🥹where should I start? Coz 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐨𝐯𝐞!!!

Continuing from the first book, Dianna has lost everything, her family, her home and her soul.. on the path of vengeance, she will not stop until she kills everyone who has taken away her world..

With 𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐎𝐕𝐬, this is a fast-paced book which goes so deep that it is beautiful. Just like the first book, I rarely skipped any part, 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝. It is a story of love and grief, betrayal and revenge, and finding acceptance and peace..

From the get-go, we dive into an 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧-𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝, 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝-𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐭😘 With a raging and burning, dark and dangerously furious Dianna, I loooved the intensity of the action scenes that transpired.. they were awesome even if they were gruesome.

Dianna, 𝐒𝐡𝐞. 𝐖𝐚𝐬. 𝐁𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐬𝐬^𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲😎. I looved her and her fierceness, ruthlessness and viciousness given the circumstances.. the way her powers complimented her personality, and how you could feel the power radiating and vibrating from her😍

While she was busy with her killing rampage, Liam/Samkiel just has my heart with his patience, love and care for her.. 𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐥, 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠. He wanted Dianna to heal, and not hurt herself. He understood her. Her grief and pain. No matter what she did, what she said, this man NEVER. GAVE. UP.

If the first half of the book handled grief from Liam’s POV, the second half of the book focused on healing from Dianna’s POV. This girl went through so much in this book and 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐮𝐥, even if there were dangerous consequences of it..

One thing’s for sure, Amber Nicole can handle such heavy topics in a very beautiful wayy… 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭. Dianna’a healing phase was so beautiful, I even cried at times feeling her pain and grief, yes I did! That’s how amazing author Amber is, she makes you feel..

But that doesn’t mean that we didn’t get that 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐱𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐲 𝐬𝐦𝐮𝐭🥵 Ohh my! And not to forget how hot Samkiel is.. never thought I’ll have the hots for a man who wears rings, but here I am😁 And I love how mature they are, and how equally mature their relationship is, super incredible.

Plus, the side characters have my heart, especially Cameron, I loved him😂 And the 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝-𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 trope was beautiful. 𝗕𝗨𝗧, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 of the line “A lock on a door rattles in a house somewhere” was realllyy annoying😑

Towards the end, the 𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐨 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐟𝐮𝐥 and there were so many revelations that had my jaw dropping to the floor🤯 A heart-breaking and 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭-𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐧𝐝, this book ends at a satisfying cliffhanger and I cannot wait for the next book..

👉🏼𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏
Overall, this is a remarkably fast-paced fantasy fiction that tackles the journey of grief and loss, and love. With some amazing action-packed scenes, heartwarming and profound relationships, unpredictable revelations, and an incredibly badass FMC and an incredibly beautiful MMC, 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐢𝐧 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐲..

P.S. I think I have highlighted almost the whole book and it is so worth it🤌🏼

I'm the type of reader that usually avoids long books, but when I first heard about The Book of Azrael, I knew that it was a book I wouldn't want to miss! Having loved book one, I was extremely excited to see what the sequel would have in store.

The Throne of Broken Gods is the perfect follow up! Dianna is a complete badass and also so beautifully flawed. I loved her character development throughout this book and she is definitely the stand out character in this book. The plot was complex and despite the whopping amount of pages, it was very fast paced. The whole book was incredibly exciting and I absolutely loved it! As a romance fan, I was particularly pleased with the romance in this book and thought it was written so incredibly well.

I highly recommend this series to fantasy and romance fans looking for a new book to obsess over.

Read this adult urban fantasy romance if you love:
• Enemies-to-Lovers
• Found Family
• Betrayals & Revenge
• Morally Grey Characters
• Fated Mates
• Epic world building

I really love the 1st book so that’s why I have a high expectation for book 2. Fortunately, this sequel does not disappoint and exceed my expectation!

The Throne of Broken Gods continues right after the ending of the first book. Dianna unleash her rage and she painted the world in red.
The story is action-packed with epic battles and amazing power display that’ll leave you in awe. Dianna makes me feel scared when she’s on a rampage but her power is AWESOME!

The world building is expanding and the story is told in multiple POVs that let you see through different perspective from various characters, like the villain, the main characters and side characters.

This book focuses more on how Dianna deals with her grief in different stages throughout the story. There’s a lot of major character growth with Dianna, it’s an emotional journey where we can see her at her lowest and how she’s trying to get back up again. So much pain and anger, I got teared up here and there while reading this.

Then there’s Samkiel, he’s definitely an angel or a saint for how he supports Dianna through all of it. I fell for Samkiel's character even more in here. He’s very caring and loyal but can turn into a dangerous ruthless God when someone threaten his loved ones.

I love the found family trope in this book, how Dianna gain a new family with Samkiel’s family – The Hand. They welcome her and accepted her as a part of their own even after everything she’s done in the first half part of the book.

The last few chapters are filled with twists upon twists, some are predictable but there are some unexpected ones. It ended with a cliff-hanger, not a huge one but enough to make me feel I wish I have book 3 to continue…

Overall, this is a well written sequel that is worth the wait. It’s heart-breaking yet heart-warming at the same time. The author portrayed the FMC’s emotions perfectly – the grief, the anger, the pain and the love.

I highly recommended this series and I’m REALLY looking forward to read book 3 cause I need to know what happens next!

OH THIS BOOK!

What more is there to say about how amazing this series is. I need the third book now, and it is a total hate crime that there wasn't even a snippet of the third book or even a release date for when it's going to come out next, mostly with that cliffhanger that was left with at the end. Finished the novel and just itching for more. I am so happy that I came across this on NetGalley, I haven't even heard of "Book of Azrael" until now, and now I will never forget it, Thank God, getting the sequel motivated enough to read the first. I won't lie when I first read the first book, I was just escaping from a reading block, were there worldbuilding aspects in the book that I skimmed over? yes, did it affect how the book came out? definitely not, because everything else was written so smoothly, the world was easy to get into and straight to the point. I definitely prefer the first book to the sequel, but that's just me being biased with the fact that there was more tension, banter, and a whole sha-bang of an enemies-to-lovers trope, mostly with the fact that it is a morally-grey female main character. as much of a spitfire Dianba is, I love how the book describes her trying to avenge her sister and going through the different ways of mourning (mostly murder) her overpowering everyone else, and yet Samkiel is just so patient with her. I love the chemistry that they have between each other, just the sizzling tension that is begging to be cut (or kissed, either I don't mind) the whole amata thing, was a bit predictable but honestly should have known the moment he talked about it in the first book anyways, everything and anything else that occurred in this book, plot twists, and turns and reveals was just amazing. (still upset about that cliffhanger, but you'll be forgiven sooner or later, around the later when the 3rd book comes out) All in all, this sequel was amazing and a definite recommend, and can't wait for the upcoming book

*Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publisher for an Earc in exchange for an honest review*

No thoughts just shock because my heart has just been put through a shredder by this book.
Diana has been through so much and when she just snapped it was the most jaw dropping plot twist of the century. Her and Samkiel's (Thank god he's no longer called Liam) relationship is the absolute cutest thing- the enemies to lovers to enemies was exquisite and the passion and anger and knives to the throat and murder attempts -
I have exams to revise for and I stayed up until 3 in the morning so I could read this 800 page behemoth in one go.

The pacing was perfect - I don't know how Amber Nicole managed to keep my attention for so long but I kid you not it felt like not even 400 pages I was entranced/(addicted). I need the third book and in my opinion it is a crime that it isn't out yet.

I really enjoyed reading this book and thought that it is a 5/5 star read. The Throne Of Broken Gods is book two in the Gods and Monsters series and both books have been amazing. This book is now out! Thank you to Netgalley, Rose & Star Publishing and Amber Nicole for an opportunity to read this book.
