I was really excited about this book. The summary and the cover both immediately grabbed my attention. I bought book 1 off Amazon right away and dove in. Unfortunately, I could not connect with these characters or the world. Fantasy usually pulls my right in and absorbs all of my attention quickly, so I was really disappointed when I laid this one down and didn't have the desire to pick it back up.

Grief and guilt comes hand in hand. I cannot believe what I read, and how long this hangover will last.
The writing was great, I didn’t recognize that I read, the flow was that good. There were moments of bitter smiles on my face. How mixed are these feelings?

I will read every book she writes, and to be honest, this was much much better than the book of azrael, which was very good. Thanks

My favorite book of July! I read this back to back with the 1st book & I couldn’t put them down. Dianna is now one of my Favorite FMC of all time now. She is the epitome of what a morally gray character should be sometime who would burn the world down for those she loves. The story picks up right after the end of Book 1. It is quite the ride all the way to the end. There were a couple of things I wasn't a huge fan of but overall I loved the whole story.

I just reviewed The Throne of Broken Gods by Amber V. Nicole. #TheThroneofBrokenGods #NetGalley

**This review will contain minor spoilers to Book of Azrael as I will be referencing things that happened in the end of that book that have relevance with this one.

I finally finished The Throne of Broken Gods and I do have to say it is a DOOZY. This book took me nearly two weeks to read and I’m normally a 3-4 day book reader. It was a fantastic book but also slower paced compared to the first and due to the grief story, so hard to read quickly and process through. Overall, an excellent read with the same great characters and an intriguing plot, but due to the slower pacing, it was a little harder for me to really get into it. This was also extremely detailed, which is great overall for the series, but again slowed down the pacing a bit and made it a lot to bite into at once. It DOES make me want to reread though and maybe take a stab at annotating to get notes on everything within this world and it’s history.

There were so many things I loved about this book. The characters were great as always. Dianna is going through it in this book and we really, truly felt her process of grieving. The majority of the story was her grief cycle and trying to figure out how to move on and heal from a devastating loss. I do think this was wonderfully written, although it did start to drag on a bit for me in that it started to feel a little repetitive and was hard to keep me engaged long term. I’m not negating her journey or that it was absolutely necessary, but I found reading a book that was almost 90% grief and not as much action had me slowing down and not flipping through the pages as much as I would have otherwise. The last 10-15% really picked up the pace though and had a very eventful ending! A lot of things happen at the end and it was much quicker to finish! While I felt like it was on the predictable side, it was done really well and in a way that makes me very excited to see where the series goes! It ends on a cliffhanger as well, so I am waiting (im)patiently for Book 3!

I also have to comment on how much I LOVE Dianna and Samkiel. She never gave up on him in Book 1 and he never gives up on her in Book 2. They have my heart and I root for them so hard. I love their pairing so much and stan a couple who will literally burn down the world for each other. And we talked about the first book being a slow burn and this one continues that simmer for us until we finally get some HOT HOT SPICE. It was so good when we finally got to it!

We also got to know The Hand even more with this book and I am OBSESSED with Cameron and Xavier. They are everything to me. Found Family is my top favorite trope ever, and the way it is done is this book means so much. I’m obsessed with their group 💗

Overall, I thought this was a really good second book in the series. While I would have enjoyed a little bit faster pacing and development within the plot of the story throughout, I think this was really well done as a character building/development story and gave us a lot more history of the world and sets up really nicely for the next book in the series. I cannot wait to continue on with Dianna and Samkiel!

I am in love with these characters and yet majorly upset that I have to wait for the next book to find out what happens to them.

My heart hurts and I’m sure it’ll hurt worse before this series is over and I’m not really mad about it.

This is a fantastic book!
An easy ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ rating.

It was very emotional and heartbreaking read, but it had moments that were very funny and thoughtful too. The characters are incredibly well written, there is so much depth to them, especially Dianna. I love her quick wit and her banter with the mMC, she’s a darling. I love how she’s so brutal and entertaining as a character, and especially how her grief was written and handled!

All of the characters were insanely well-written, they had so many facets to them and so much was going on, this book truly kept me on my toes. The family dynamic explored in this book is absolutely wonderful, I also enjoyed how the world building continued in this book. It is a very rich and immersive world that the writer has created.

Reasons why I believe everyone should pick up this book:
☑️ it is Multi POV
☑️ the FMC is morally grey
☑️ forced proximity
☑️found family
☑️romance
☑️betrayal
☑️tension and spice
☑️witty banter
☑️insane world building

I’m very excited to read the next book in this series, I cannot wait for it to come out. Highly recommended!

I received a copy of The Throne of Broken Gods by Amber Nicole from NetGalley. This book is the second one of the Gods & Monsters series. I absolutely enjoyed reading The Book of Azrael earlier this year, and the way that book ends, I couldn’t wait to start reading the sequel. The story is a fantasy romance and focuses on the characters of Samkiel and Dianna.
The Throne of Broken Gods begins right where The Book of Azrael ends with Dianna’s sister murdered by Kaden. Dianna’s entire world collapses in the aftermath, and she sets out on a revenge mission. She is not concerned about who stands between her and her revenge, she goes on a rampage. Samkiel knows that Dianna’s actions result from her grief and refuses to condemn her. He wants her to come back to him, but it is not easy to reach her. The romance is one part, and there is a lot of exposition in this book, but these are the answers I wanted to know. Some of it, I could guess, but it still keeps you intrigued.
The plot has similar elements with the aspect of adventure and action. The romance between Dianna and Samkiel takes a while to start full-fledged, but it is worth it. Once they come closer, the tension building up since the first book comes to a head. They understand each other and have conversations about everything, which, I think is very mature. They are such an amazing couple. Samkiel refuses to give up on her even when a part of him knows that her behavior is wrong; the struggle within him is portrayed really well. Dianna shutting herself off and building walls in grief is relatable. They had a good understanding in the first book too, but here, it becomes more real and honest.
I went into The Throne of Broken Gods with a lot of expectations since I loved the first one, and it was just as interesting and enjoyable. The characters, their relationships, and the romance between Samkiel and Dianna works wonderfully. All the build-up from the first book totally pays off here. This fantasy romance series has been so exciting to read. Everything I enjoyed in the first book is amped-up in this one, and I can't wait for the next book.

This forced me to read The Book of Azrael because I wanted to read the second so bad. AND BOY DID IT NOT DISAPPOINT. The unhinged behavior this book have had me rocking in my chair trying to read faster. This book offers the dark vengeance of a woman and doesn’t sugar coat anything like some dork lord books do. This is raw female power and it makes me want to suit up and join on the warpath.

Amber V. Nicole has done it again with an amazing follow up to The Book of Azrael.

The Throne of Broken Gods has somehow managed to be even darker and grittier than its predecessor, and what a ride it was. I truly felt like I was going through all the stages of grief with Diana. I love all the characters, and getting see more POVs from them was a real treat.

My biggest gripe with this book, though, is it felt much too long. Coming in at 866 pages, I definitely felt like some things could have been cut, trimmed, or even added as bonus scenes at the end of the book, just so everything flowed better without making the reader feel like they're dragging through certain sections to get back to the main story. However, for me, it felt worth it getting through them just to experience all of the crazy twists and turns in store.

If you loved the first installment in Gods and Monsters, you're sure to not be disappointed by the second book. And with the cliffhanger it ended on, I'm begging Ms. Nicole to not make us wait to long for the third!

I had to spoil this for myself as I had not yet read the first book but even still this was a wonderfully written and engaging read.

Thank you to NetGalley, Rose & Stars Publishing, and Amber V.Nicole for allowing me to read this arc!

I was hooked from page 1! The story picks up where it left off and the suspense just keeps going! I devoured this book and loved it just as much as Book of Azreal.

Diana is completely unhinged in TOBG from her grief and pain. And Samkiel is doing his best to bring her back from completely losing herself.

There is so much action in this book it was hard to put it down. I was on a rollercoaster of emotions! I really liked how there's no filler in between big moments!

I can't recommend this series enough!

An absolutely amazing sequel to the first book, it further expands the universe and the romance is just done so beautifully - I love these characters so much and can’t wait for the next installment.

Book review: The throne of broken gods by Amber Nicole
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
After the cliffhanger last year from the first book (which I had also rated 5 stars) I should have known better before reading this, as it ended in a cliffhanger too and now I'm stuck waiting for another book to come out. Unbelievable
But this was so SO GOOD!
This whole book was basically about grief and handling the permanent loss of a loved one. It was handled well, and tbh I would get murderous tendencies too, duh! I also enjoyed little Sami simping hard on miss Dianna, as he should! As all men should!
There were one or two things that were painfully obvious to the readers, but not to the characters, but there were so many things revealed that I did not see coming, but mostly because our characters were oblivious. Those were some good twists tho.
Anyway, the plot of this series is just *chefs kiss* and the smut is even better. All of it is worth it!
.
Thank you @netgalley for providing this arc!

Once again Amber V. Nicole sucked me into Dianna and Samkiel's world, leaving me utterly destroyed in all the best possible ways.

Seriously. I wanted to eat, sleep, and breathe thjs book until I was finished and legitimately wondered how necessary it was to feed myself or my children every time I had to put it down. For me, it was THAT good.

The Throne of Broken Gods picks up in the aftermath of book one as Dianna sets off on a warpath of rage and grief, ready to raze worlds and get revenge on those who betrayed her (if you know, you know) while Samkiel desperately tries to pull her back from the edge. First of all, let me just say Dianna was firmly in her villian era and WE LOVED TO SEE IT. One of the things I love the most about her character is that she is unapologetic and unremorseful when it comes to her wrath and her mission to seek vengence. This is no fragile flower, folks, and time and again we're shown exactly how thoroughly she's willing to follow through on every threat and promise made. In the midst of all of this, though, her agony and her heart are so clearly evident. She's not a villian for the hell of it, but because life made her that way. Seeing her slip deeper and deeper into the darkness, not to mention slowly pull back out, was an incredible ride.

And SAMKIEL. Phew. That man. God. King? He's a character who wears so many hats, but above all he cares for Dianna so fiercely and absolutely refused (and I mean REFUSED) to give up on her no matter how many times she committed some other atrocious act. He defended her tooth and nail, chased her across the realm, weathered every emotional blow she sent his way, and perserved in the name of that love. I had tears more times than I could count over his devotion to her and his unwavering belief that she was still her, still so much more than what everyone else believed her to be.

The supporting characters were beautifully integrated into the story, too. We got to see a lot more of Logan, Nev, Imogen, Cameron, Xavier and Vincent this time around which really provided a fuller picture of The Hand and who they are, how they came to be, etc. I was just as touched by their moments with Dianna, Samkiel, and each other as I was the moments between out MC's.

I honestly can't say enough good things about this book. Yet again the lore and world building was richly developed and unique to anything else I've ever read. Yet again Amber ensnared me with Dianna and Samkiel's story while seamlessly weaving their individual trials into the overall plot and then absolutely wrecked me as the plot twists started hitting. The end of this book had me gasping, screaming, cheering, raging, ready to sob and throw my phone across the room all in the next second.

It put me through an emotional meat grinder all the way to the last page and I can't think of a better compliment to give. Any book that can take me in the grip of it so completely that I'm outwardly affected will always be a five star read, and I've just come to accept that anything by Amber V. Nicole will deliver what I'm anticipating.

A huge thanks to NetGalley and Rose & Star Publishing for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

The first book in the series was one of my favorite books! The second one was even better I can’t wait for the third book to come out!!!

Awesome plot romance is great not to much or to little… I love the fact that the FMC is the misunderstood villain in the book,, nice change of pace from a lot of books in this genre plus she is absolutely badass the emotional growth of the FMC in this book is great I loved watching Dianna grow and learn to love herself and know that she is worth it too. Samkiel❤️ I love his unconditional love for Dianna.

I would hands down read anything this author writes!

# General Thoughts

Since I found “The Book of Azrael” last year -which is a the first book in this series - I was obsessed with it and singing its praises to everyone who would listen. I couldn’t believe that I never heard about it or the author before because both of them deserve way more hype.

So - if you can’t tell - I was starstruck by the first book.

Imagine my amazement when I found the sequel as an ARC on netgalley! At this point, thanks to Netgalley for gifting me this ARC in exchange for an honest rating and review.

I coudn’t have it fast enough. It did everything better that I found lacking in the first book and gave me everything I could have wanted in terms of character development and relationships. If you as a reader by chance are in love with the Inner Circle of the Night Court (ACOTAR, S. J. Maas), have fun reading this sequel.

# Summary

I won’t give a detailed summary here, since it is the second book in a series. Let’s just say that the story took twists and turns that I did not see coming but there also were some predictable moments that could have felt a bi more polished. All in all, it was a very enjoyable experience and I cannot wait until the next book!

# Characters and Viewpoints

There are to main characters - Samkiel and Dianna - and those are also our main POV’s but the story is also told through other viewpoints of minor or supportive characters throughout the book. I often struggle with transitioning from one POV to the other and that I honestly enjoyed this aspect of the storytelling makes this even more special. I loved the different viewpoints and how different every character felt from another. They had fleshed out personalities and individual thinking voices so I never got confused in whose head I was currently in.

# Relationships

This is one of the main things that kept me in love with this series.

Since every character feels so unique, the relationships between them do too. There are so many layers and aspects of communication between the characters depending on how long and how well they know each other and of what nature the relationship is. I really enjoyed exploring this aspect of the authors writing.

And let’s not forget the banter between our main and supporting characters! It was so satisfying, delicious and sometimes mean, I caught myself laughing out loud at the most inappropriate times.

# Plot

Again, I won’t give details here. The plot is twisting and turning in a lot of directions, sometimes predictable, sometimes absolutely not. It is actionpacked - which is important for me as a plotdriven reader - but I mostly relished being along for the ride with those amazing characters.

******Disclaimer:****** There is graphic violence and sexual content in this story and it can get dark at times.

# Final Thoughts

If you are a reader that fell in love with books like ACOTAR (and I really don’t want to compare books or declare “the next ACOTAR” or some bullshit) a few years ago when they were younger and now seek something that falls in the same category but with a more grown up touch and daker vibes, welcome to the Gods and Monsters series byAmber Nicole!

This series is giving me life. I LOVED the first book and The Throne of Broken Gods did not disappoint. This is hands down becoming one of my favorite series and I cannot wait for the next books. I love the characters, the rage, the grief, the world building, literally everything. Firmly believe the author can do no wrong- if Amber V. Nicole writes it, I will read it. 100% would recommend this book and the series.

This book and series are so good, I don't want them to end! It was such a wild emotional ride filled with guilt, grief, rage, and romance!

I would say that this book is split in two different sections. The first part is Dianna's vengeance and the second part is Dianna's acceptance of Gabby's death. This book directly follows how the first book ended. Dianna is on a path of vengeance after losing her sister. She doesn't want to care about Samkiel and focuses her grief on killing all the people responsible in Gabby's death. Samkiel wants to bring her back before she becomes the monster that everyone believes she is. The second part of the book is post all the death and destruction, Dianna stops her vengeance and starts to slowly accept Gabby's death and realizes she might have a family she never thought she might have.

This entire time Samkiel is trying to figure out Kaden's plans and his true identity. As the story progresses Samkiel finds out a lot about his father. He's in the dark about so many things regarding his family, his powers, and even the universe. Up until the very end of the book Samkiel and Dianna keep finding out secrets that shake the foundation of their beliefs.

The thing I especially liked about the book is the multiple character povs from Imogen, Camden, and Logan. They're such important characters in the story and its nice to see in their minds.

Thank you to NetGalley and Rose & Star Publishing for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I can't wait for the next book to come out!
