I really loved this book. It is perfect for young ones who are just starting out learning how to play piano. It was even perfect for me as an adult to learn. With many songs that we grew up with it helped to know what we were already expecting the songs to sound like as we played. Each song has lyrics and sheet music. The brilliant sheet music shows us where our fingers need to be and each note tells us what it is, making following along and learning so much easier and enjoyable. Anyone wanting to learn to play or to help teach our little ones to play this is the best book for you. Makes a wonderful gift for music lovers.

My siblings and I all took piano lessons when we were kids, so we naturally want our own children to learn how to play. I was interested in this book because it makes an adequate introduction to piano for my young kid. I liked the wide selection of popular songs (40 of them) and the fact that they came with lyrics. The author took care to organize the songs from the easiest to the more complexe ones, starting with melodies that can be played with one hand before diving into those that require both hands.

That being said, I must admit that I didn't find the book aesthetically pleasing (though the illustrator is really talented, you can take a look at her work on Insta) maybe it's just a matter of taste. The idea of including some fun facts every other page was good, but I wonder if kids will find them particularly fun or interesting.

The book in itself is totally worth it if you only want to purchase piano sheets, but personally, I'd rather get something that provides useful tips (regardless of wether the child takes lessons or not), and/or anything that will get the kids excited about learning and playing.

Thank you NetGalley and Zeitgeist for giving me access to a digital copy of this book.

My 5 year old has recently started showing interest in learning to play the piano. This book is simple and easy. I haven’t played piano since I was little, but I was able to easily follow along with this book and help my son learn a few notes at a time.

This book teaches the basics of piano playing with one hand. It has very popular songs for children to play that most of them already know.

Are you looking for a book to introduce to your young children that will give them the confidence to play the piano? I’ve found it.
Let me tell you about “My First Piano Sheet Music” by Emily Norris. This book is a perfect introduction for young children interested in music, singing, or specifically the piano. With 40 popular songs like “Happy Birthday”, “Jingle Bells”, and more. My First Piano Sheet Music is an easy-to-follow music book. With fun songs to sing and play, that are popular with your children. Emily Norris has done a wonderful job in creating a book that will boost the confidence of your young piano player without coming across as a task.
Emily Norris has compiled 40 beginner-friendly songs with clear music notation and helpful hand positions. Some songs have been adapted to help the child continue a steady flow of ease when playing, these are annotated by the author so you are aware of the gradual changes even if you don’t play piano yourself.

How do these adaptations help your child while playing the piano? What makes it beginner-friendly? Glad you asked.

The hand positions will help your child identify what hand positions are needed and which notes will be played in each song. The music notation includes letters for each note, in addition to some finger numbers, which will build your child’s music-reading skills.
In the household, we love the piano. Personally, never played and do not know how to read music at all. I can say without a doubt this was not a frustrating endeavor, it was fun to play alongside them. It also is a great way to have children see how as a grown-up, you do things they know you don’t normally do. Showing them that with dedication and with the right style of learning they too can play an instrument or learn anything.

With My First Piano Sheet Music both children and adults can easily play the piano without any of the frustrations that ensue especially in other piano music books I have come across in the past.

This is a really cute book. The songs have been simplified, and as a result the tunes are a bit off from what I expected. The rhythm doesn't seem right for some of the songs, too.

I loved this. I can play some piano by ear, and my mom was self taught. But getting my fingers back on the keys with, MY FIRST PIANO SHEET MUSIC, may me feel like a little girl again.

A supercute book for children to learn the first steps into piano lessons practice. Also, it might serve for adults beginners as players of that mentioned instrument to start playing with well known and easy songs. Well done!

Thanks to NetGalley and Zeitgeist, Z Kids for giving me the opportunity to this Arc in exchange for an honest review

Well, I am not a beginner in piano (not a pro either, I'm preparing my grade 4 ABRSM exam). But my sight-reading is VERY beginner. I thought it would be a nice exercise to do beginner sheets. And this book was nice. I can totally see a child /beginner trying out piano with these charming tunes. I didn't know most of them, as I'm not familiar with nursery rhymes. Furthermore, I really enjoyed it though. It was an enjoyable exercise for me to practice my sight-reading.

The fun facts were pleasant too.. And now I want a Crystal piano, haha.

This book has an excellent transition from very basic intro pieces to progressively more difficult songs. There is also the fun addition of facts that are sprinkled throughout the book that children will love!

I absolutely loved My First Piano Lessons and was excited to see this next installment with G-sharp the Giraffe. This book includes 25 songs that are right-hand only and 15 that use both hands. I love that these songs each include a fun fact about the piano and music in general. As an educator, I think this book could be great for students to learn from and return to as they become more familiar with music theory and create chord progressions and accompaniments independently. The song selections in this book could also be helpful for students wanting to learn to sing while they play since the words are available on most songs in the grand staff.

While this book does not necessarily show how to play the piano, it is meant to supplement My First Piano Lesson, and I think it is great for that to offer more practice.

As a Piano teacher I am always looking for music for my students, especially the younger ones. So I was thrilled to be able to get this book to review and see if it would work for some students I had in mind. I am happy to report this book is perfect and now I will be looking at the other books this author has written! I'll be having my students order this book when it comes out! Keep up the great work! You have a fan!

This is a great title for kids who are learning to play the piano. There are forty simple songs here along with many fun facts. Just a few of the pieces include When the Saints Go Marching In, John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt, Amazing Grace, Bingo, and the Birthday Song. Young students will feel a measure of accomplishment at they successfully play these songs.

I found this to be a nice title for its intended audience. I even want to play.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Zeitgeist for this title. All opinions are my own.

This is a nice collection of songs for kids to play. All of them only need the right hand and most are very familiar. There are patriotic American songs like Yankee Doodle, religious songs like He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands, nursery rhymes like Liza Lou, Christmas songs like Jingle Bells, old time songs like Give My Regards to Broadway, classical songs and more. All of them are shown with large notes with the letters on them. Most are one page. The sheet music was a little small and blurry on my ARC but I’m hoping the publisher just sent a poor quality ARC. Good for beginners.

I read a temporary digital version of this book for review.

The G Sharp Giraffe is fun. A terrific selection songs for kids. I love the cute nursery songs that kids will love and the more classical songs like Spring and Swan Lake. All very easy and fun to play. Short enough that kids won't get frustrated and bored with a few medium length sized songs threw in. Kids will love it.

Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

'My First Piano Sheet Music' is a simple and lovely introduction to the piano.

I'm currently teaching my seven and five year old's how to play the piano and this is the perfect sheet music and simple introduction that is needed for beginners.
Meeting G-Sharp Giraffe is adorable and the illustrations and facts are well thought out.

The piano music is the predominately the usual beginner music albeit with the American vibes that are Stars and Stripes, Yankee Doodle and so forth. Not bad songs by any means but my New Zealand children were unfamiliar with songs familiar from my 90's childhood tv shows.

The sheet music is easy to read and has a good mixture of song lengths. Like most lesson books they begin easier and increase in skill level as you move through.

I was gifted a digital copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I’m not sure if it’s the way I received the digital copy but I could not understand the format of this book. Maybe when it is released if o have the physical copy it will be better for understanding then the digital format.

Is this meant to be in black and white? I was just a bit taken aback because it's not what I was expecting. It just feels a little dreary. Would be great if the added illustrations were in colour!

Other than that, it's exactly what you would expect for kids. Simple nursery rhymes and some harder popular little tunes for piano learners.

My First Piano Sheet Music is an engaging book for beginner piano students.

G Sharp the Giraffe is such a welcoming teacher! I liked the introduction, especially the last few sentences:
“Journeys can be tiring. So take breaks!
Journeys can be hard. It’s ok to make mistakes!
Journeys are exciting. So let’s have fun!”

Learning to play the piano was neither something I chose as a child nor something that was fun for me. My parents were demanding and demeaning when I did not want to practice. My teacher, while kind, could not make me want to love piano. This book seems to build up a cute, fun, supportive foundation for young, budding piano students.
