this was such a cute read! i love the grumpy sunshine trope and amy lea always nails it! i'm so sad to see the influencer series end but this was such a fun ride!
Final book in the Influencer's series by Amy Lea.
This one was kind of fun, with Melanie the fashion influencer trying to get her follower count up and needing a boost to her brand. When she's invited to a Nova Scotian resort in exchange for a positive social media review the timing gets messed up she ends up at the only place that has room, a run down, under reconstruction family inn. Small town meets big city. Definitely some funny moments, and a good ending to this series.
Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this so much but it also annoyed me??
I loved the beginning - the tension and general annoyance between our FMC and MMC was amazing. 5/5 stars there. I loved the setting and the fake dating situation.
The annoyance came from the conflict. It fit the characters and we knew it was coming, but I was hoping they'd come to their senses beforehand.
You had me at grumpy lobsterman! A great opposites attract, fake dating romantic comedy that takes place in an atmospheric remote fisherman village on Canada's east coast. Evan is a fisherman and bed and breakfast owner who mostly keeps to himself and enjoys the peaceful life he lives. Then along comes fashion influencer Melanie to shake things up for Evan in a major way. When they are mistaken for each other's fiance after a boating accident leaves Evan in the hospital with Melanie there as "family," they decide to run with it and find themselves falling for each other the more time they spend together. Great banter, spicy romance, and hard to put down.
The Catch was a lot of fun! Melanie, a fashion influencer, has to stay for a week in a Canadian bed & breakfast to save her career. There she is roped into a fake engagement with a grumpy fisherman, Evan.
The tropes in the Catch include:
✨fake dating (engagement)
✨grumpy x sunshine
✨opposites attract
✨one-bed trope
Melanie was a relatable main character, but she was a bit annoying at times. She acted like I would if I had to share a bathroom with a spider. Her dedication to her social media platform too often overrode common sense, and that was the frustrating part for me! However, I liked how the book showed that not every influencer’s life is glamorous. Melanie had a tough childhood, and therefore I can understand some of her actions. Evan, on the other hand, is a grumpy fisherman, which is one of the best love interest tropes. I love Evan and Melanie’s dynamic, and I love how there was no miscommunication trope. They were both very mature and understanding of each other’s lives and I love that. And of course, Evan’s family was AMAZING!
The Catch was enjoyable and quick to read! But it lacked something magical for me since it was predictable, and the relationship felt too rushed!
*4.5 stars
I adore Amy Lea's books and The Catch is no different. I loved the setting, the grumpy sunshine trope, and the swoon-worthy romance. From the first page she had me hooked, and it was a great continuation of the Influencer series. With addicting banter, sweet shared moments and adorable characters, I definitely recommend picking it up.
Another adorable story by Amy Lea. Not my favorite in the series, but still so much fun! If you liked Exes and O’s you’ll enjoy this one.
Amy Lea's writing -- *especially* in this series -- is so fun and swoony. I'm really sad to see this series end! This one had all of my favorite tropes: enemies to lovers, opposites attract, fake dating, city vs. small town, grumpy/sunshine...all the hits, truly!
This is the first book I've read from this author and I'm impressed by the storytelling. I'll be sure to look for more reads. The Catch is a cute enemies to lovers, fake dating set in a small town read. All things I love about a book
I really loved Evan & Melanie's banter and their journey from enemies to lovers to fake dating and then of course something more. The Catch is an easy read that will have you falling for lobster! lol
This "When You Were Sleeping" inspired book was fun but lacking in some parts.
Overall I enjoyed it because I enjoy everything from Amy Lea, but it fell flat in comparison to the first two in this series which are just joyous reads.
I didn't feel the chemistry between Mel and Evan though there are some fun side characters. I just can't imagine them going the distance.
4.5⭐️ This was adorable, and probably my favorite from the Influencer series, from the small town Nova Scotia setting, to the outdoorsy fisherman/city girl love story. Amy delivered one hilarious and spicy read with perfect pacing and great side characters.

Thank you NetGalley and the Berkley Publishing group for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a fun, easy read, which is often exactly what I'm in the mood for! I hadn't read any of the other books in the series before diving into this one, and I didn't feel confused, so I think it can be read as a standalone. Grumpy fisherman always gets me, and I thought I might be annoyed by the influencer character, but Amy Lea handles it in a nice way.
Mel Mel Mel... I'm so glad she got her book. She is a lot to take in, and in her way, such a complex character. She goes through a lot and has a lot of changes by the end. Evan is her match and opposite every day, and I love the sass, the banter, and chemistry that flies off the page. Biter sweet to see this series end but I loved how it did end ❤️
this was a very cute romcom. the influencer aspect of the story was fun to read and of course it's always fun to read opposites attract -shes the city girl, and he's the grumpy guy. it's not a new favorite but it was still a fun read. and i enjoyed some of the tropes in the book like forced proximity and fake dating.

This is the third and final book in The Influencers series. I have thoroughly enjoyed each book, but I’m still undecided if I liked this one or Set On You more - Exes & O’s is by far my favorite of the three.
This was a fun enemies-to-lovers with fake dating set in a small town. I really enjoyed the characters in this book and loved the cameo from the characters in the other two books.
I absolutely loved the small-town fishing vibes and the lobster fest. I had such a great time following the journey between these characters and the banter scattered throughout.
This was a buddy read for me - one of my favorite ways to read a book. I’m so glad I was able to discuss my thoughts on this book, as I just found it so interesting.
Mel and Evan were such incredible characters. I’ve seen many people say this is their favorite in the series, which I can totally understand.
I also really loved the mental health rep in this book and the charm of this town. All the side characters were a fun touch as well.
Overall, I absolutely loved the quirkiness and character depth in this book. It had some of my favorite tropes, I would highly recommend picking this series up.
Thank you so much NetGalley and Berkley for the review copy in exchange for my honest review!

I love Amy Lea…I would read her grocery lists to be honest. I’ve really enjoyed the Influencer trilogy and am sad it’s ending, but wow….what a way to end it. Enemies to lovers set in a small Atlantic town, the characters discover what family means and help each other heal in the process. Featuring the same banter and sarcasm common in Lea’s writing, this is a really sweet love story that will have you CRUSHING on Evan Whaler.
Thank you, Netgalley, the author, and Berkley for the gifted e-book! ❤️ #gifted. My review is comprised of my honest thoughts.

I wanted to love this one, but nothing really stood out. Nothing stuck in my mind. It's similar to so many other books that was too easy to compare it, not in a good way. I liked it enough to finish it. You may love it.
An absolute gem of a romantic comedy that had me hooked from the very first page. Set against the backdrop of a quaint fishing village in Nova Scotia, this story is brimming with charm, humor, and heartwarming moments.
At the center of the tale are Melanie, a Boston fashion influencer, and Evan, a rugged lobster fisherman with a heart of gold. When fate brings them together after a boating accident lands Evan in the hospital, Melanie finds herself swept up in a whirlwind of events as she agrees to pose as Evan's fiancée to help smooth over a family feud.
What follows is a delightful romp filled with mistaken identities, quirky family dynamics, and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. As Melanie and Evan navigate their fake engagement, they discover unexpected connections and undeniable chemistry that slowly blossoms into something real.
I adored the vibrant cast of characters, from Evan's eccentric family members to the colorful residents of the fishing village. Each character added depth and richness to the story, making the setting feel alive and immersive.
I DNF'd this one because it was too much like The Proposal (the movie). Loved the movie, but I wasn't feeling it in book form. Also there were some comments that didn't sit well with me like, "he lifted me up even though I was north of a size 10" (something along those lines). That comment, and others, leave me with an icky feeling on many levels.
I appreciate what Amy Lea is doing with her influencer series but I think the time has come for me to admit they are not for me. Boston fashion-gramer Melanie finds herself in a Canadian fishing town fake-engaged to a surly (but sexy, of course) fisherman/carpenter/musician. The predictable course of action unfolds with Lea’s characteristically thoughtful approach to mental health, body image, and sexism. Perfect for fans of fake dating, grumpy sunshine, city meets country, and quirky small towns!
