I love dragon books, especially ones with fabulous opening lines!

"Ophelia thought she had never in her life seen anything as adorable as a baby dragon, but evidently, not everyone shared that view."

Snarky and sardonic, witty and fun, with fae and dragon alike, this book is perfect for fans of Dungeons and Dragons and McCaffrey's Dragonriders.

It's a quick read, with a bit of mystery, Mindwalkers, and magic, and a whole lot of heart.

Oh, and I adore Cricket. Foster kids don't get enough page time, honestly. "There are bullies and mean people everywhere you go. You can't avoid them just by going somewhere else."

Thank you to Ava Richardson and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

"The Ancestral Forces" by Ava Richardson is a thrilling and captivating finale to the Charassi's Fae Queen series. From start to finish, this book takes readers on an intense and gripping adventure that will keep them on the edge of their seats.

In this sixth installment, the realm of Charassi is facing its greatest challenge yet. The ancient evil force known as Kaliban is on the brink of breaking free from its prison, posing a grave threat to the entire realm. The birth of Starstriker, a new dragon hatchling, unwittingly becomes a catalyst for Kaliban's plans, as he draws strength from her to carry out his deadly schemes.

Queen Ophelia and King Corrin find themselves in a race against time to protect their realm and its inhabitants. They must risk everything, even their own lives and the safety of Ophelia's human family back on Earth, who unexpectedly play a crucial role in the fight against Kaliban. Ophelia embarks on a desperate journey, seeking ancient magic that can match the power wielded by Kaliban.

What sets this book apart is the depth and complexity of its characters. Ophelia's growth as a leader is truly remarkable, as she grapples with difficult decisions and faces the consequences of her actions. The author skillfully portrays the internal struggles and sacrifices that Ophelia must make to fulfill her destiny. The bond between Ophelia, Corrin, and their dragons, Sunny and River, is beautifully depicted, showcasing their unwavering loyalty and commitment to protect their realm.

Ava Richardson's storytelling prowess shines in this final installment. The pacing is expertly crafted, with a perfect balance of heart-pounding action, emotional moments, and unexpected twists. Richardson's vivid descriptions bring the world of Charassi to life, immersing readers in its enchanting landscapes and perilous battles.

"The Ancestral Forces" explores themes of courage, sacrifice, and the power of unity. As the characters face daunting challenges, they learn the importance of trust and collaboration, discovering that they are stronger together than they are alone.

Without giving away any spoilers, I can confidently say that this conclusion is both satisfying and heartwrenching. Richardson skillfully wraps up the story, leaving no loose ends and providing readers with a sense of closure. The book's climax is exhilarating, filled with high stakes and unexpected revelations that will leave readers breathless.

Overall, "The Ancestral Forces" is a remarkable conclusion to the Charassi's Fae Queen series. Ava Richardson has once again demonstrated her ability to create a rich and immersive fantasy world, populated with engaging characters and a gripping narrative. Fans of epic fantasy will be captivated by this book's thrilling action, emotional depth, and the profound message of hope and resilience.
