Book: Fighting Fate
A Spy Makers Guild Novella
by Diana Muñoz Stewart
Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: Romantic suspense
Wait a minute, Diana took me by a big surprise with this novel. Keep in mind I haven’t read any of the author’s work, so it’s safe to say that this book was something I desperately needed to get me out of my book slump.
Was I procrastinating read this book? Absolutely and that is utterly embarrassing on my part because this brilliant author has come up with an action packed, spicy and did I mention the most awkward hilarious scenes in the plot. It is quite bizzare and honestly, all I can say without giving away any spoilers is that don’t bother even reading the blurb to this book.
Just run and pick it up and enjoy the ride !
Thank you NetGalley and Diana Muñoz Stewart for giving me the opportunity to review this ARC copy.
This is a fun novella with lots of action to keep you on the edge of your seat. As a romantic suspense story, the romance is sizzling, and the chemistry between the leads is spot on. I really enjoyed reading this story, which focused on human trafficking in Mexico. It's setting up another story, so I definitely want to read on in the series.
My only negative is that there were a good number of typos that took me out of the story when I came across them. It really seems like it needs one more run past an editor.
This had quite a funny start since Dada was trying to convince herself to act like a nun for her undercover operation and Sean is trying to not be attracted to a nun. I especially loved Dada’s competence with martial arts … as a nun! There was some suspenseful excitement as both Dada and Sean investigate the disappearance of local women but I would have liked to have seen more in depth personal talks about them as a couple. There was certainly physical attraction but I didn’t get enough “feeling” talks for a HEA. As it was, this story ended with a HFN.
While this is a fairly new author to me I have enjoyed the few books I have read and I have to say this latest offering hasn't changed my opinion I think she is going to become a one click author for me With the perfect blend of suspense drama and a sprinkling of humor this is just about the perfect read
Dada Parish is a Guild operative and her latest undercover operation has her pretending to be a nun in an effort to bring down human traffickers The only problem is that she is deeply attracted Sean a man also working to bring down the people she is hunting He knows she is no nun after all nuns aren't brilliant at self defence and sure can't kiss like Dada can Will they work together to bring the traffickers down and can they have a future You will have to read to see
I enjoyed the protagonists, who both are undercover for different reasons. Sean Bradford was a star football player until a terrible accident ruined his career. Sean becomes Juan to try to locate a student.
Dada Parish is a Guild operative and is given a mission to find traffickers. Dada is used to going undercover with many disguises but adapting to playing a nun, Sister Dee, is proving quite tricky.
Sean doesn't realize that Sister Dee has taken an interest in him to gain his trust for a mutual partnership. Their first encounter at a soup kitchen has them making googly eyes at one another.
Both find themselves caught in a web of more than what they had bargained for.
I found the inner dialog of both protagonists to be quite comical. Sean chastises himself for his attraction to a nun, and Dee reminds herself to act like a nun. The chemistry between the two was good. The romance with the dangerous elements makes this book an intriguing read!
I received an advance reader copy (ARC) and voluntarily read and provided a review for this book
