Love and Vengeance. So I’m roaming along scanning books and I came across this one little book waiting for me to read it. Just when I didn’t see it coming. Bam! The first chapter knocks me over.
Let me tell you something. Love and Vengeance is one of the best unexpected books that I have read this year. I am not just saying this to you. I just want to share with you what I experienced from reading this very flattering love story. The book had me asking, where did this writer come from?
I mean come on people. Writing like this is truly mesmerizing. From the first chapter Lily and Violet had me in their corner. Their story has the ear marks that easily touches the hearts of most readers. Their background story speaks to the volume of what woman and children face on a daily basis in the streets of London.
Lily has two goals to save her sister. Violet and open her dress shop. I love Lily’s courage. While Lily works her fingers until they bleed. I respect her strength and her determination, to pursue a better life for her impressionable young sister.
There are leeching bloodsuckers who anxiously awaits for Lily to drop her guard. Wham! And here they come. Meanwhile on the other side of the story. Jack an Englishman from America comes home with his trusting good friend, Brandt that’s always by his side.
The two share a dark secret/ memory that haunts their waking moments. They vow to each other to rid this egregious, haunting memory from their lives. Jack is described as a man who knows his way around a woman, but to Lily he’s described as an Adonis. Jack is a take charge, tell everyone what to do, and how to do it doesn’t go over so well in London. Now Brandt.
His character reads as though he has some secrets to tell. His person is dubbed as the American gun slinger with that American Cowboy slang. Tell them like it is. Cooler heads will prevail sort. Which is a comfort for Jack, but how far can the two push that bond until it breaks? Starring down the eyes of the nemesis shakes the core of this love story.
The entertainment is at an all time high as our three main characters Lily, Jack and Brandt knocks down the barriers that lashes out dark and painful marks physically and mentally. The dialogue and the narrative of the story speaks to how the books expounds upon the many challenges that are so real for the reader. I was captivated by the characters emotions. Their passion for happiness. Their success and let downs.
The characters accents sounded so real in my mind as I was reading. The reality of the book did not miss one beat to the genuine telling of what the human bonding relationship was built on, which is love. Readers I loved the book. I’m so glad to have read this book. It’s an easy read and a bedtime page turner.
I give this book two snaps and a…, hold up. “When Lulu came walking out naked, towards Jack and Henry. I thought for sure Henry would immediately start stuttering like Elmer Fudd. I say… I say here. What’s all this? Now what’s all this? My question is, why didn’t Henry get flustered at all by Lulu’s nakedness?
Gotcha thinking doesn’t it? Until next time my fellow readers. Read on! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. #LoveandVengeance #Netgally #Goodreads #Bookbub
A Tangled Web
Jack is looking for revenge, but he discovers love instead. However, he finds himself in a tangled web of lies and secrets, too, and it will take a great deal of pain before the whole truth is revealed. Jack wants revenge so badly that he is too ready to sacrifice love on the altar of vengeance. Could he find out the truth before it is too late? I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to those who like historical romance with secrets, mystery, and twists you will not see coming.
This is the second book in the Love and Literature series. Jack is back in London looking to exact revenge on the person who wronged him when he was a boy. He hides this fact behind the fame he is enjoying from the success of his first novel. Ottilie is a mathematics instructor at a ladies' college and is devoted to the cause of providing higher education for women. Her aunt wants to find her a suitable match while Ottilie is in London visiting, but she is not interested in finding a suitor, but instead would love to have Jack come and speak at her college. Their chemistry is strong when they meet, and a love begins to build slowly between them. Until Jack's past begins to overshadow his present and trust is broken. Jack will need to do what he can to win Ottilie back.
This was an entertaining and enjoyable read and a lovely addition to the series. Jack and Ottilie were interesting characters and I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop and grow.

3.5 stars
Not a bad book, the second in the series. The first dealt with Violet, the headmistress, employer and friend of the heroine Ottile. The book starts with a man called Jack Bastin, a poet and writer, think Byron but in cowboy boots. I found this a bit odd as the rest of the book is set in London with Jack seeking revenge on his Uncle. His Uncle was supposed to hold in trust his nephew's estate...I vaguely think this inheritance came down the maternal line which I thought was odd. Jack has a friend, Briant that helps him with his revenge plan, even more John Wayne.. I was waiting for the passion between Ottilie but this didn't really take place, even though we knew Jack was a rake and had already seduced the wives of some influential men. As I say I was in abeyance waiting for the passion so for me this didn't really work too much vengeance. We understand the connection with Violet towards the end.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A very worthy second book in this series, I actually liked this one more than her first book. Here we meet Ottilie, a mathematics teacher working in a school for ladies. Our hero is Jack Bastin, an author whose books are very popular. Our heroine wants to meet our author badly and the story revolves around this pair. It is a great story with interesting twists which I did not see coming. It is useful to have read Love and Lirerature as Violet and Byron feature here also. Written against the backdrop of emerging education for women and independence in some measure for young working women, it is a refreshing take on the usual historical romance. I look forward to the third book in this series. Thanks to Netgalley an the publishers for an ARC of Love and Vengeance.
Jack Bastin takes London by the storm with his book THE RENEGADE. Jack is more than he pretends to be. He's really an Englishman, not an American, even though he was in Texas for ten years. He's back in London out for revenge. Ottilie Hamilton teaches mathematics at the Canterbury Ladies College. What an accomplishment if she can get Jack to come to the college to speak or read from his book. Yes, but then she becomes his muse.
Betrayal versus love. Emotions all over the place!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Love and Vengeance by Aviva Orr
I absolutely love this book. It was well written, and the plot, scenery, and overall story are well put together. It's definitely a great beach day book or lazy day.
I just reviewed Love and Vengeance by Aviva Orr. #LoveandVengeance #NetGalley

I found this novel fairly difficult to read given the background and nature of the crimes committed, not to mention the lies and manipulation that ruled the characters. The romance between Ottilie and Jack builds slowly, but when it would appear that their lives are more intertwined than they originally thought, trust breaks down and for a while, all hope is lost. Discovering the truth humbles Jack, but having received the greatest gift life could have handed him, he is willing to do what he must to win his lady back. The novel is a standalone and comes to a good conclusion. I received a copy of this book as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.
This is second book in the series but this one didn't grab me as much as the first. It is well enough written and I liked both Jack & Ottilie but it just didn't wow me. It seemed to drag in places although there was mystery & intrigue which is usually enough to hold my interest it just didn't I just didn't and at 41% I was checking how much was left to read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The second book in the series and it’s easily read on its own. A well written interesting read which held my interest all the way through. I really liked both Jack and Ottilie, their chemistry and the way their relationship developed through the book. There are also some mastery elements that give this book an interesting vibe. Totally recommend this book to however is in the mood for a historical romance with a solid plot.
Newly arrived in Mayfair, writer Jack Bastin becomes the darling of high society after catapulting to fame with the success of his first novel. But beneath his façade lies an artist haunted by a painful past and crippled by a desire for vengeance against the man who wronged him as a boy. Jack plots revenge. Ottilie Hamilton, a mathematics instructor and founding faculty member of Canterbury Ladies’ College in Kent, relishes her independence and is committed to her cause of furthering higher education for women in England. Nonetheless, Lady Hudsyn is determined to see her wayward niece married and schemes to find Ottilie a suitable husband during her visit at the tail-end of the season. But the only gentleman Ottilie wants to meet while in London is the notorious novelist Jack Bastin—not because he is the most attractive man she has ever seen, but because she hopes to enlist him for her cause. Ottilie garners an introduction to Jack via her cousin, and their mutual attraction blossoms, giving way to the possibility of love—until the past collides with the present.
The second book in the series & it’s easily read on its own. A well written interesting read which held my interest all the way through. I really liked both Jack & Ottilie, who were likeable characters & I liked the chemistry between them & how their relationship grew & changed. I enjoyed their journey to a HEA although there was mystery & intrigue it didn’t wow me, however I’m glad I read it & will definitely read more from the author
My review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
