I really enjoyed this book. It made me laugh and it made me cry.
Lexi is a young Jewish woman searching for authenticity, when she falls for an overnight sensation named Jake Taylor.
I really enjoyed the fact that Lexi didn't lose herself when it came to pleasing her husband, so many women, characters, do. I found it hard to put this book down once I got into it. I really enjoyed the swoon-worthy feeling of this book. The author does a wonderful job of exploring the emotional ins and outs of a relationship between a superstar and someone who is not.
This is definitely a book I will be recommending to my friends.
Thank you to NetGalley & St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read this story it was a delight.
This was so so cute! I loved it! I couldn’t stop smiling what an enjoyable story . Can’t wait for more by this author
Another new author for me and I really enjoyed this romance! It was fun, sweet, and full of foodie goodness! I really like reading chef romances! It just fits me! I liked the characters and their journey to an HEA! This had all the things I like in a romance! I highly recommend reading it!
im actually very obsessed with this book because I am always obsess with this type of tropes and the male main characters being head over heels over the female main charathers I just love it so much
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
I went into this book thinking it was going to be really good based solely on the cover. I had no information about what this book was about. I wish I had because then I would've known that it was insta love and I would not have read it, as insta love is the worst trope, in my opinion. It was fast to read but I did not enjoy that much. 2.5 stars rounded up to 3 for the pancakes on the cover
I enjoyed reading this book. The drama wasn’t too over the top and there were some very sweet moments between the characters. Will recommend and read again.
This was such a cute contemporary romance. I really enjoyed Lexi and Jake's story and seeing their relationship evolve. Even though the outcome of their relationship was kind of predictable, it still made for an entertaining read. It was nice to see how two people with demanding careers made time for each other and worked through realistic obstacles.
Read this if you like:
→ Second chance romance
→ He falls first
> Famous singer trope
→ Insta-love
→ Single POV
This romcom is the perfect mix of sweet and spicy and worth picking up.
DNFing this book early on because I couldn't get into the writing of it and the main character was a bit annoying. I could see this book working for other people but it's not one for me.
I couldn’t get into this one. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for sending me an arc copy in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for granting me free access to the advanced digital copy of this book.
I love romance, I love reading, and I love food. Mix those three things together and it gave me this. This was super cute!
3.5 stars
Thank you Netgalley and smp for the arc!
This was a fun debut! I love books where one of the characters is a chef. I'm not super into celebrity romances because I have a hard time relating and connecting to the characters but I did enjoy this one!
Lexi is an aspiring chef who meets Jake, an up and coming musician. He writes a song about her blueberry pancakes and the rest is history! The author is great at making the food feel vivid as if it's right in front of you. My biggest complaint would be the miscommunication that happens. Chloe is a great side character who didn't feel flat or one dimensional. The ending was a bit rushed and overall the second half of the book wasn't as strong as the first half. I did enjoy this book though!
"Till There Was You" by Lindsay Hameroff is a charming debut romantic comedy that blends culinary passion with the world of music stardom. The novel follows Lexi, an aspiring chef focused on her culinary career, who has a brief but memorable fling with Jake, an up-and-coming musician. Their paths cross again a year later when Jake becomes famous with a hit song inspired by Lexi's blueberry pancakes.
Hameroff's writing shines in her depiction of the culinary world, bringing Lexi's passion for food to life with vivid descriptions. The author also skillfully portrays the challenges of balancing personal relationships with career aspirations, a central theme in the story.
The romance between Lexi and Jake is sweet and engaging, with their initial meeting and weekend fling particularly well-executed. However, some readers may find their later interactions frustrating due to miscommunication issues and a lack of mature dialogue.
The supporting characters, especially Lexi's friend Chloe who works in PR, add depth and humor to the story. Chloe's professional life provides an interesting glimpse into the world of celebrity management.
While the novel starts strong, the second half of the story loses some momentum as Lexi and Jake struggle to navigate their rekindled relationship amidst the pressures of Jake's newfound fame. The resolution of their conflicts may feel rushed to some readers.
Overall, "Till There Was You" is an enjoyable read for fans of romantic comedies, offering a blend of culinary delights, music industry drama, and second-chance romance. Despite some pacing issues in the latter half, Hameroff's debut shows promise and will likely appeal to readers looking for a light-hearted, contemporary love story with a dash of celebrity glamour.
I really liked this book! I loved that the main characters had such a good story! I loved that he wrote a song about her! I loved reading about all the food and drama in this book!
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this ARC.
Romance and food. How could a book be better than that?! This was over the top cute and fun! I can't wait to read more in the future from this author since this was her debut book.
Till There Was You is a delightful debut novel from Lindsay Hameroff. The lead characters are charming and their friends add spice. Alexa Danielle Taylor has known she has wanted to be a professional Chef since she was 14. Unfortunately, shortly after she discover her love for cooking, her mother was diagnosed with cancer, so it became a way to comfort her mother. But she died before she graduated high school. The loss of her mother, made her afraid to love anyone else, especially after her father soon found another wife and moved from NYC to Florida. She was accepted to the Institute of Culinary Education, which she gives 100%, her only social life is with her two best friends, Chloe from high school and Ali from the Institute. Until one night, she stays at a bar, after her besties leave and she meets Jacob Aaron Taylor. They hit it off and spend the weekend together, but he is a very talented singer and is off to Hollywood and he soon ghosts her. But he too realizes that she is not only his muse, but "home". Can he convince her to forgive him, despite the attempts by others to sabotage their relationship? He is a southern boy and such a motech.
I like reading books where I learn something about other professions, and learning about what happens in a Michelin star kitchen is fascinating. I myself have never been in a Michelin star restaurant. Living most of my life in Atlanta, GA, we were happy to just have a kosher restaurant. I agree with Lexi's mother that Streit's makes the best matzah ball mix (and matzah stuffing mix). While I got annoyed with Lexi letting others pull her strings so she kept pushing him away, I can understand her insecurities. But they did get their HEA. I would definitely read another book by this author.
I read an Advance Reader's Copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.com. This Is my unbiased and voluntary review.
"Til There Was You" is a romance novel presenting a plain storyline with the main characters falling into instant love, creating a somewhat predictable plot. The main character personally comes across as not very likable, possibly making it challenging for readers to fully engage with the narrative.
The dialogue is not particularly captivating, lacking the depth and complexity that some readers might seek.
While it may not break new ground in the romance genre, it still manages to offer a pleasant and easy read for those looking for a straightforward love story.
A chance meeting between Lexi and Jake leads to a weekend together, but then he ghosts her. When he finally reappears, Lexi must decide if he's worth a second chance. I really enjoyed the characters and the story. The fact that Lexi is a chef and Jake is a rock star only adds to the fun. I have read many mixed reviews on this one, but it's worth reading!
If you're looking for some light reading that includes a few nice little romances, feel good and happily ever after even after a few bumps in the road, this is a good book for you. The cover has a nice description of the characters and story, so I'll not give any spoilers. Characters are fun and always on the go. 'Great descriptions of city life and life of a chief in a busy kitchen. It is a quick, easy read for a poolside or your morning train commute. Read and enjoy! I was provided an advanced reader copy but under no obligation to provide a review. The opinions expressed are my own. May thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read this book.
Lexi has a magical weekend with Jake when he leaves for LA to record his demo. They make plans to get together when he returns, but Jake doesn't come back and Lexi watches as Jake shoots to superstardom.
When Jake suddenly appears on her doorstep, Lexi is thrust into his life of fancy parties and paparazzi.
This book was cute and had a lot of potential.
I loved the premise, but the story itself did not stand out.
In rom-coms there is often the couple's "hurdle". That thing they have to overcome to have their happy ending.
This hurdle felt forced and and I don't know if it was immaturity on the part of the characters, but I wasn't buying it.
In the end this was a cute, fluffy romance, but there was nothing standout about it.
