A thrilling read, there is so much here for mystery suspense readers to love. B. A. Paris is such a wonderful writer. I have read all of her books. Her imagination and art of deception leave the readers guessing and will have your pulse racing. Just when you think you know who done it, Paris twists the storyline again. A book for readers of Greer Henricks.

B.A. Paris has been hit or miss for me and the last few have been misses and this one was also a miss.

Here is a *spoilery* mini review.

This was very slow with poor pacing. I liked the beginning but quickly lost interest in the story/characters as the story progressed. SPOILER: I just don’t love when the villain just tells you the twists and what happens instead of having them shown and revealed along the way. It felt like many of the reveals were misrepresented during the story so the wow factor missed the mark.

B.A. Paris is back with another twisty, domestic thriller that had me hooked from the beginning! Husband and wife, Iris and Gabriel, have just returned home from a holiday, to find one of their close friends, Laure, staying in their house while they were away. Although the two families often stay at each other's homes often, the atmosphere quickly becomes tense as she oversteps again and again. Although the couple tries to be understanding and supportive as Laure recently walked out on her husband, Pierre, due to his confession of an affair, the houseguest begins to overstep and overstay her welcome.

As the story continues, Gabriel and Iris befriend their neighbors, Esme and Hugh, and even hire a mysterious gardener, Joseph, to help with their home project. Soon, secrets from all their pasts will unravel and connect in this fast-paced thriller. This was an easy read and I enjoyed the story. Looking forward to reading Paris' next release!

Thank you to B.A. Paris, #NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I wasn’t a fan of this book. The characters were unnerving. The story dragged for me. I will say I was surprised by the ending. I received this advanced copy from Netgalley for an honest review.

I enjoyed The Guest by B.A. Paris! It was my first book my this author. It was a bit of a slow burn but I actually like that about most books. It allows me to get to know the characters and understand the plot at a deeper level. There were plenty of twists but I felt they were saved for the end. I wish they had been spread out throughout the book, which would allow more intrigue and that rush of wanting to keep reading. Well developed characters and plenty of lies, games, and murder. I look forward to reading more by this author!

When I first started reading the book I was very confused with all the different characters and their names. I struggled to get into this book more than i have other B.A Paris books. This is probably my least favorite

I liked this one a lot, but not as much as other B.A. Paris books. It definitely kept me reading it, and quickly!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read and review this book. I wasn't sure about this book mid-way through, but it redeemed itself. There were times where I didn't understand the point of a couple of the characters and the story seemed to lag a bit at times, but there was enough mystery to keep me reading. I found some of the characters to be one-dimensional, but I have to admit that by the end, there was a good, solid twist I hadn't seen coming. Overall I would recommend this book. I was planning on giving it a 3 star rating, but by the end of the book, I felt like it deserved a solid 3.8-4.

Thank you very much to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for this advance copy of The Guest, by B. A. Paris - this one is out now!

I absolutely LOVED Behind Closed Doors from Paris, and I recommend it to everyone who wants a domestic thriller - unfortunately I’ve been trying all of her new works, and nothing is hitting the same. The Guest started off pretty robustly with all of the characters introduced, but they were hard to keep straight (especially Joseph, Gabriel - Pierre maybe because he was French), but I ended up being bored for most of the book. I thought parts were predictable, and I didn’t really enjoy this one.

Thank you again to NetGalley and the publishers for this ARC in exchange for this review - The Guest is out now!

3.5⭐️ Overall, while I enjoyed the suspense of the story and short chapters, I felt the story in the beginning dragged a bit and some of the characters were just very unrelatable. Even with the slow burn, I can say I was invested in the story enough to find out who The Guest truly was. I did enjoy the background information given on some of the marriages to help shape the unreliable character aspect to the reader. I did enjoy the ending with the good plot twist!

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martins Press for an advanced copy.

While I'm a big B.A. Paris fan this wasn't a favorite for me. I do enjoy a good slow burn now and then, but this was a little too slow for me. It wasn't a bad book by any means, just a little slow for me. Still enjoyed the overall plot though.

Fun and fast paced thriller! Made for a quick read and would recommend for anyone looking for a fun mystery to read on a road trip (like me!).

I enjoyed the mystery and twists throughout. In this case I actually really enjoyed the final epilogue twist - not all books can pull that off!

Unfortunately, this book was not my favorite. I am bummed, because this was my first book from the author, and I had heard great things. This one definitely missed the mark for me, but I will give more chances with other books.

BA Paris is well known to this reader as I've read many of her titles. Classified as a mystery/thriller, THE GUEST features many elements of drama and women's fiction as the characters are developed and their attitudes and opinions add to the overall story. It reads as an episode of the television series Dallas or Falcon's Crest with every character hiding behind an assigned place in the story but having designs on each other's life and ultimately ready to pull down the whole show. Instead of "Who shot JR?" the plot is "When will they kick Laure to the curb?"

Many of the reviews I read were disappointed that there was not more THRILL in the thriller but this was a very good soap opera that would make an excellent series. The characters were a mix of good today, who knows about tomorrow, that I found entertaining and it kept me turning the pages to see what would happen next. Lots of mixed messages and clues designed to identify the villians. Good read all around.

B.A. Paris did not disappoint in this book! I could not put this book down! It had me on the edge of my seat and I read it in one sitting! I would definitely recommend this book.

This book was a slow building psychological thriller and it took me a little while to get into it while author Paris was laying the groundwork. A tragic accident, a missing person and lots of shady characters with secrets- all the makings of a good mystery but it just wasn't a page turner. Minus points for the pacing and somewhat repetitive chapters in the first half. This book had me feeling like 'oh this is it?' right before it slammed me into a brick wall with the shocking last chapters. So, all in all, a great ending but the ride there wasn't the most interesting. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an earc in exchange for my honest review,

This story dragged a little for me. I'm glad I received it as an ARC, but i had a hard time staying interested in the characters and their unwanted houseguest. The ending seemed to come out of nowhere. I'm going to check out other books from this author hoping this one was a fluke.

When Iris returns home with her husband to find their good friend Laure is living in their house they are surprised. They soon find out that Laure and her husband are having marital problems and Laures husband. Pierre, has some secrets. Not long after coming home a new neighbor moves in bringing with them a suspicious landscaper. As the days go on there are many internal battles within each family and they start to run into everyones lives. And then things take a ugly turn and two people end up dead.

This was a fantastic book that kept me jumping for more! It was one of those books that you never wanted to put down. I was reading well into the midnight hours just to finish and find out what exactly happened. BA Paris does a fantastic thing in her books that makes it so you never know what the next page is going to hold. This holds true even more for this novel! Highly recommend!!

While I have really enjoyed other books from this author, this one in particular was not for me. Or, let me rephrase. It wasn't for me, right now. I'm very much a mood reader and I struggled to really get into this story. I didn't feel especially connected to the characters, which left me feeling disconnected from their outcome. All that being said, the twist at the end really did get me, and I devoured the last 40 pages.

Another BA Paris psychological thrillers of sorts. I like this one way more than previous release.
A well weaved plot with shocking twists. The ‘coincidences’ that pile up.
This is worth a read if you’re looking for a twisty, tense plot. BA Paris rarely disappoints!
