Wow- this was a twist I didn’t see coming. Which I do always appreciate in a thriller book. While I liked the twist at the ending this wasn’t my favorite BA Paris book. One thing I do like about all BA Paris books are the short chapters and face pace timeline. I would give this one a 3.5 out of 5 I just wanted more during the book and not everything in the ending.

Thank you to B.A. Paris, St. Martin's Press, and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I wanted to like this book, but honestly found it quite boring. I did not like the characters at all. Maybe because I couldn't connect with them. Laure was the most unlikeable one and definitely overstayed her welcome. I wanted to kick her out multiple times.
I felt like this book dragged, and a lot of it was overwritten. But I will say the ending saved this book for me.

Iris and her husband, Gabriel, return from a trip to be surprised to see their long-time friend, Laure has been staying in their home while they were away. Distraught, Laure shares that she has left her husband, Pierre, after revealing that he has a daughter with another woman.
Given that I’ve read some of B.A. Paris’s backlist work, I was so excited to be given the opportunity to read “The Guest” and share my thoughts.
Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the story and definitely did not like any of the characters. I felt like they were all immature and lacked any sort of communication between one another. There were too many names thrown in at once; too many dragged out scenes and missing pieces.

I can't imagine returning home from a vacation to an unexpected houseguest, even if it was a dear friend. B.A. Paris did a great job of creating an unsettling atmosphere and a cast of questionable characters.
For me, this book felt slow, mostly because I didn't really connect with the characters or care about the intrigue. It felt preposterous to have so many characters die without anyone connecting the dots. The ending/twist didn't feel shocking to me and just made me dislike/disconnect with the main characters more.
Thanks to NetGalley for early access in exchange for my honest review.

4 stars!
I read this along with the audiobook and it was such a fun read!
I just love the audiobook and this ebook so much and the narration was fantastic. The eerie vibes this book gave me and my attention span is short but reading and listening to the audiobook at the same time got me having fun! This really kept me guessing until the end and I definitely recommend this :) There are alot of twists and turns that keeps you engaged!

Oh boy, I really wanted to like this book. I’ve read quite a few of this authors other books so I was really excited when I was given a chance to read and review from NetGalley, but was sorely disappointed.
I can’t even say that I hated it, because I don’t feel that strongly about it. I was bored to tears the entire time. It was so slow, narrated by the most boring characters you could ever imagine. I held on to the end though, waiting for it to get better, and it really didn’t.
There was no build up to the “twist” ending. It was just a series of boring events that took place until the end where the author just told you everything.
I will definitely think twice before reading another from this author in the future.

The Guest is a thriller with lots of twists and turns. Gabriel and Iris return home and find their friend, Laure, staying at their house. And she becomes the guest that just doesn’t leave. She says her husband has told her that he has a child with another person. Gabriel and Iris try to get in touch with her husband, Pierre, but he never answers them. Then Esme and Hugh arrive in their town with a friend, Joseph, who they employ as a gardener. The twists and turns start then and you just don’t see them coming until everything is tied up at the end. Lots of surprises!

Thank you to St Martins Press and NetGalley for an ARC of this book, in exchange for my honest opinion.
I’m a longtime fan of B.A Paris and her thrillers, but this one is shooting high on my list of her books.
When I tell you the epilogue to this story had my jaw on the floor, I really mean it. After reading the last chapter I wondered how the story could be ending with so many unanswered questions. In the epilogue we get every answer we could have wanted and more, and it was sooo satisfying seeing it all wrapped up with a bow. I had some suspicions of who was behind all the drama throughout the story, but I was wrong because the ending was totally shocking.
Iris and her husband Gabriel are going through a bit of a rough patch after Gabriel goes through a traumatizing experience. One day out for a cycle ride Gabriel stumbled upon an 18 year old neighbor who has fatally fallen into the quarry. Gabriel witnesses his last moments alive and it really mentally affects him. And Iris is having trouble getting him to open up to her. When their friend Laure shows up at their house they’re delighted for the distraction it provides them. But soon they are swimming in the drama because Laure has delivered the news that her husband Pierre has secretly fathered a child after cheating on her with a one night stand.
Gabriel and Iris are soon completely entangled in the web of chaos between Laure and Pierre, when their new coming neighbors are also added into the mix. Esme and Hugh have just moved in down the other end of the village, along with their gardener Joesph.
Will Pierre and Laure be able to overcome this betrayal and save their marriage? Will Gabriel ever heal from the trauma of seeing a young man die? What drama will Esme, Hugh, and Joesph bring to this group of friends?
A deliciously woven tale of deceit, affairs, betrayal, murder, and so many secrets. Pick this book up if you’re looking for a quick and thrilling read!

B.A. Paris books are always face paced. I find that I can’t put them down once I start. I will say it did drag at some points. And I got slightly frustrated with the main character Iris and how “wishy-washy” and trusting she was with Laure. I was borderline disappointed that it was another clueless and naive woman getting taken advantage of. And then we get to the end of the book and it all made sense. HOLY MOLY!!! I DID NOT SEE THAT TWIST COMING AT ALL! I don’t wanna give it any spoilers, but this would’ve been a very different review if not for that ending.

How much do we love surprise house guest?!
3-stars for this one!
Iris and Gabriel came home from vacation to find their good old friend Laure waiting for them. Not a stranger to be a house guest but surprise non the least and with her was a steaming secret of , say what? a love child!
B.A.Paris books are usually a hit or miss for me. I still enjoy reading her style that I can not completely scratch her name off my favorite author list. With that being said, The Guest is one that I would rate as just okay. It was slow at almost the first half. Premise was good and as always well written. The twist towards the end does not give me the whiplash effect but still considered star worthy.
I thank St.Martin’s Press via Netgalley for the advance e-copy and MacMillan Audio for the audio file to review. Emily Joyce did great on narration and I can simply say I am researching other books narrated by her.

I enjoyed this one better than her last, but it still was a little bit of a struggle for me to get interested in the story. It started to pick up at about 25% and became more interesting. The pacing was still a little slower than what I prefer.
Married couple Iris and Gabriel are hosting guest, Laure, who is having marriage troubles with her husband Pierre. He revealed a major secret to Laure and she is grabbling with the information. There is also another family who lives nearby who also has a more suspicious guest.
At times the story revolves a lot around their day to day life and circles back quite frequently to the same things. I enjoyed the mystery surrounding the plot and the ending was satisfying. If you enjoy domestic drama and a slower paced plot you will enjoy this one!
Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

B. A. Paris has delivered another fast-paced, entertaining read. A house guest overstays her welcome and shakes up a family. Every character has a terrible secret and it all comes to a deliciously wicked head. A killer twist caps things off for a terrific ending.

I absolutely loved this book!! Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read and review it. This book kept me absolutely engrossed from start to finish. I couldn’t read fast enough to see what happened next. The end was awesome!! This is my first 5 ⭐️of 2024!!👏🏼 I’m putting this one top of my list to recommend to my book loving friends. I just reviewed The Guest by B.A. Paris. #NetGalley

I have been an avid B.A. Paris reader since her debut novel, Behind Closed Doors. Her latest novel, The Guest, did not disappoint!
When Iris and Gabriel’s long time friend, Laure, shows up at their England home after leaving her husband in Paris, questions begin to arise as to her husband’s whereabouts.
I enjoyed being brought into the lives of the three main characters and the subsidiary characters along the way. Although I was expecting a fast-paced thriller, this is more a domestic drama. Do not let that keep you from reading! The huge twist at the end is SO worth the wait!
Thank you, NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press, for the digital ARC in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed above are my own.

I would first like to thank B.A. Paris, St. Martin’s Press, and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of The Guest in exchange for my honest review.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I began reading this story, but once I started, I did not want to put it down. I was reading while cooking, cleaning, folding laundry, feeding my son, etc. I just had to know what happened, I was hooked.
The Guest by B.A. Paris follows Iris and her husband Gabriel, returning to find their long time friend Laure staying in their home. What follows is a story of betrayal, secrets, and murder that will have you gripped until the very end. The ending will make you question everything you thought you knew throughout the story.
This is a must read for fans of domestic thrillers.

Loved this book! It’s a bit of a slow burn to get to the thriller part but I loved the character development and I found the story to be captivating the whole time. I think it would make a perfect pick for a book club!

What can I say about The Guest? I’’ve read every book by BA Paris and this newest book did not disappoint. Two couples, one from Britain and one from France are the closest of friends, but best friends can hide terrible secrets that lead to three deaths. When a new couple and a gardner with a past enter the mix things take a turn for the worse,,II could not see the final twist and revelations, This was a great read that I finished on one rainy night!

Seems like a simple title right? This story is anything but simple, and that guest? I wouldn’t want her staying at my place.
There are many moving parts in this story, and it all begins with a couple named Iris and Gabriel and a dead 18 year old boy named Charlie. Gabriel happens to be first on scene at the site of Charlie’s accident, and is having trouble coping with things afterwards.
Next we have Laure, long time friend of Iris and Gabriel showing up to stay for a bit while she deals with a confession from her husband Pierre that jeopardizes their marriage.
Laure is annoying, overstepping boundaries left and right and it’s time for her to leave. Enough is enough…until she disappears. Iris and Gabriel have no idea where she is gone and can’t reach her husband either.
As I’m reading, I’m thinking what next?
Oh shall I mention we have new neighbours that become fast friends, that have a “guest” of their own?
For the first few chapters I found this one a bit confusing, trying to keep all the moving parts in place, but once they clicked, they clicked. I couldn’t put it down.
And that Epilogue, that was the icing on the cake! Highly recommend this latest one from B.A. Paris and look forward to see what she does next.
Thank you to NetGalley and St.Martins Press for the advanced copy.

The Guest starts chronicles a chain of events that happen when a family friend comes to stay. The reader gets to know two couples and the tragedies that began to unfold as the story goes on. Who is to blame? What is really happening? And who are the new neighbors down the road? The writing was brilliant, the characters interesting, and the plot unique. Great book.

B.A Paris is one of my favorite authors!! This didn't disappoint. I have been in a reading slump and I pushed through and this brought me out. It was a slow burn and just when you think you've figured it out nope not it. The ending was worth the slow burn!! Thanks netgalley for the opportunity to read in exchange for a review!!
