I don’t know about you but having an unexpected house guest gives me extreme anxiety. But when they decide to stay longer than originally thought is a million times worse! These characters were incredibly flawed and keeping secrets from each other. Laure is clearly overstaying her welcome and refusing to deal with what is happening at home. Gabriel is keeping something from his wife as his wife is keeping plenty from him.

This one was great to listen to on audio because it did start pretty slow. I didn’t know where the plot was going until about 50% in so listening it to while working made it easier to get into. The ending was not something I expected and goodness, so many people died lol. This was an interesting read once things really started to unravel!

This one was sooooo good. Addicting and so easy to read. At first I was like where is this going? But it all came together and that was a killer epilogue!

I will admit Laure drove me absolutely nuts, but that was the point I believe. Every character is shady and seems guilty of something. This was so good! Can’t wait to read more from this author as she always does such a great job writing thrilling and suspenseful stories.

I did not get very far into the audiobook before I knew this book was not for me. I had no interest in it at all unfortunately. Thanks to NetGalley, MacMillan Audio & St Martin's Press for advance copies.

I have read all of this author's books and they are all worth reading. This was good, but not great. The epilogue at the end that reveals everything was a bit over the top. I enjoyed the story for the most part but hoped for a better resolution. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I have long been a fan of B.A. Paris and her knack for building suspense. The Guest is another winner in the suspense/thriller department. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters, and I even enjoyed liking the unlikable! Finally, the twist is perfectly executed and just made for a really fun and exciting read. Well done!

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book to read and review.

This one was okay…not totally as memorable as some of their other ones. Definitely a good palate cleanser in between more demanding books. It’s a typical domestic drama/thriller. Pretty predictable but enjoyable nonetheless.

A strain is weighing on Iris and Gabriel’s marriage. Since they do not feel they can be open with one another, it festers and seeps through more of their relationship. Just what they do not need right then arrives in the form of their friend, Laure. She left her husband because he admitted to being the father of a girl. The longer Laure stays, the more space emerges between Iris and Gabriel.

They meet a couple who have just moved to their town and their gardener. This gives the couple someone to confide in and a place to get away from Laure. Relationships will have their highs and lows. The characters are well-written and likable, except Laure. She is self-centered and oblivious to those around her. Even so each person is well developed, and you find yourself forgetting that this is a story.

I am a huge fan of BA Paris and this book stands up to the excellence in the other works.

I received an ARC from St. Martin’s Press and Audiobook from MacMillan Audio. This in no way affects my opinion or rating of this book. I am voluntarily submitting this review and am under no obligation to do so.

Intriguing domestic thriller by B.A. Paris set in an upscale village in England. When empty nesters Iris and Graham have a houseguest come visit from France, they aren't expecting her to stay so long. But as summer turns into fall, she is still there and secrets are revealed. The twist was interesting and unexpected. This was almost five stars, but the writing style was a little bit "too much tell, not enough show" for me, especially the last chapter, and the plot dragged a bit in the middle.

Whenever I read a book by B.A. Paris, I like to mention she's the reason I joined Instagram back in June of 2016. I had won a copy of BEHIND CLOSED DOORS from Good Reads and wanted to promote it. Now here I am seven B.A. Paris books later and also reviewing NetGalley books for the last two years.

I am very thankful to St. Martin's Press, B.A. Paris, and Netgalley for granting me multiple forms of this book, but I just couldn't focus on it. It read like a sequel to a book I didn't read.

I must have liked this somewhat as I finished it in a day :) I wouldn’t say this was a favorite of mine, but it was a quick read that kept my interest and had a twist that I didn’t guess. From the description, I didn’t expect the story to take the path it did. It does make you wonder what you might do or how far you might go to protect a secret you didn’t want exposed…

Some secrets never leave.

This is a twisty & slow-burn domestic thriller. Gabrielle and Iris are a couple who seem to have it all, but a local tragedy has left their marriage on the rocks. When they return from vacation they find their close friend Lauren unexpectedly moved in after leaving her husband, Pierre. From here, we follow their story as they navigate a very uncomfortable dynamic with Laure, whose own story doesn’t quite add up, on top of their own secrets. Although at times the pacing was a little off, this was a quick read and just when I thought I had this story figured out, it pivoted in a direction I didn’t expect!

I really enjoyed this book & would recommend checking it out come February! And if you haven’t read any B.A. Paris books yet, check out her past releases including The Therapist and Behind Closed Doors.

B.A. Paris has written another great book! So many twists and turns that you dont see coming! A marriage that seems to be crumbling turns into a murderous nightmare! A doctor and his wife come home from vacation to find one of their best friends living in their home. She tells them the reason she has left her husband and they are shocked and agree to let her stay with them for awhile. When you think you have it all figured out, Paris adds another twist to the equation. Due to be released in February 2024. The Guest by B. A. Paris is a 4 star read!

At first when I started this, I was so confused about the characters and what exactly was going on. But luckily it all made sense after I kept going a few more chapters. This one was definitely an easy read, easy to follow, and easy to binge. I enjoyed the different plot lines and wondered when it would all come together.

Did it get a bit annoying that Laure never left and they never got the balls to tell her to go? Just a bit. But it didn’t bother me enough to put it down.

I had my suspicions about a few things, but wasn’t able to guess the twist. I really enjoyed this book and usually have hit or miss experiences with this author, but this was definitely one of her better ones.

B. A. Paris is an auto read author for me. Although I feel like the story's are never quite finished, this one was a quick, enjoyable read that left me wanting more with my jaw on the floor...in the best way.

The Guest was an entertaining, mysterious, and problematic wild ride. This may be my favorite book by her yet. From the train wreck of a house guest to the lies and secrets unfolding, this slow-burn page-turner kept me on edge and the ending will have you throwing the book across the room cause you didn't see the twist coming.

Thank you NetGalley for the Advance Readers Copy. The Guest will be available Feb. 20, 2024

This book was a little hard to follow in the beginning. There were two couples and another person introduced in the prologue, then another couple soon after, and it took me a little while to figure out who was who.

Once I had everything situated, I never really got into the story. I spent most of the book being annoyed by Laure, and once she was more present, Beth. I didn't care for any of the characters, so I wasn't invested in the story and didn't want to pick up the book and read it.

I wasn't as shocked by the epilogue as a lot of other readers; I had figured out some of it and the rest of it didn't really do much for me. I think it probably all relates back to not caring about the characters. It was a good story, it was just 'meh'.

Really enjoyed the overall story. I was pretty hooked, but the pacing was tough at times due to the characters talking/ monologuing. I had a hard time enjoying the characters. They just were not likeable for me.
I loved the short chapters, I think that was the biggest pro to this book in regards to pacing.
The ending had a good wow factor that I always enjoy as well - really redeemed a lot of the annoyances I had with the characters.

Story overall was really decent. The drama kept me hooked - I needed to keep reading.
It was the characters in this one that fell short for me.

BA Paris is always a must read author for me but her books are hit or miss. This one was ok.. the ending made it all worth it. But I wish it was formatted differently. I was shocked at all the reveals! I did not suspect it at all! The story was a little monotonous and boring at times.

It took me multiple times of starting to read and then putting it down to finally get into this book. We spend a lot of time with the married couple Iris and Gabriel and their guest, Laure. She is having marriage trouble with her husband Pierre.
There is a good mystery woven into the plot, but I got tired of the characters discussions, worries and day to day lives that circled around a little too long. I also became annoyed with the guest Laure more times than I’d like.
There is also another troubled family that lives nearby and they also have a "guest" that is a bit unreliable.
I was invested and wanted to find out how all the loose ends would tie in and overall this was a good book once I was finally pulled into it.

I will read literally anything BA Paris writes and this was no exception. This was a dramatic domestic thriller full of twists and turns. It was so fun!
