Superb writing from this author, a very eye catching cover, this book will go far, 5 stars. Blindingly excellent ... This book should come with a disclaimer as once you start reading you aren’t going to want to walk away. Audiobook was a great listen too!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this audiobook ARC!

Buckle up friends these neighbors are going to take you on a bumpy ride! You may think you have it all figured out and Ryan comes out of nowhere to shock us all.
This one earned 4 stars from me! It was gripping, it was entertaining and it was hard to put down...but it did have moments where I was not completely shocked or surprised and predicted what was coming.
I enjoyed the audio version and would highly suggest you take a listen to this one! Perfect for a road trip or a day by the pool!

What colorful and messed up characters! I was engaged from the beginning, and thoroughly enjoyed it during a long drive.

In this weird neighborhood, nothing was as it seems. It teased and twisted, with a gradual reveal about what was really going on. I’ll hush in order to avoid spoilers, but this was an entertaining ride, and well narrated by Stephanie Cannon.

The Homemaker by Shari J. Ryan Narrated by Stephanie Cannon was a unputdownable psychological thriller packed with heart-pounding twists and turns throughout. This book was so good I am glad I had the audiobook to listen to; Stephanie Cannon was excellent and made this book come to life in my ears, especially whilst I was crocheting a baby blanket etc.

I loved it and looking forward to read or listen to more books by Shari J Ryan in the future. I can't recommend this book enough. A great Holiday read. Overall 5 star audiobook/book.

Big thank you to Netgalley and especially Bookouture Audio and Bookouture for providing me with a copy of this audiobook/book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! This psychological thriller had me guessing at every turn. Told from three points of view, in present day and the past, The Homemaker is the story of three women living on an upper middle class Delaware street. Jenna just moved there with her husband Oliver and the home purchase makes her life almost complete- great job, great husband, great house, next comes baby. Now jump to present day, Jenna is sick, in bed, totally out of it, and just wants to see her newborn son, but is told she doesn't have a baby.

I listened to this audiobook while I was driving home from vacation, and I am so glad that I got to listen to it from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review of it.

If I would have to sum this book up in one word it would be "WOW". I loved it!
This book is told from two points of view: Ginger, and older woman who lives alone after her husband mysteriously disappears and a thirty-something woman named Jenna who recently moves into Ginger's neighborhood. A neighborhood which is seemingly perfect, from the outside.
However, this wonderful house in a beautiful neighborhood seems cursed after terrible things happen and secrets are revealed about its residents.
Jenna befriends both Ginger and Payton (not sure about the spellings of the names since I listened to the book rather than reading it), and almost immediately, Jenna's life is changed forever. She gets pregnant, has a baby, and then suffers a huge loss, after which everything in her life seems to spiral out of control.
But who is to blame?
You will find out when you read or listen to this, but I can guarantee that you didn't see the ending coming! What a great book with a wonderful narrator! I am going to be reading more books by this author as soon as I can!

I must say that I enjoyed the three POVs in this book. Going back and forth from Peyton to Jenna to Ginger kept me interested throughout. And you really start to second guess every single person's motives. It was wild and twisty and that ending...wow!

moving into their dream home in a lovely neighbourhood Jenna and Oliver are happy. Soon Jenna becomes pregnant but why does she remember giving birth to her baby and everything being okay, when her husband tells her her baby is dead?

This is a tense and full of twists psychological thriller, told from multiple points of view to keep the reader guessing; this really had me looking in all the wrong places.

This was a fantastic read and I look forward to reading this author again.

The Homemaker is a very good psychological thriller filled with lots of suspense. With three main female characters you really won’t know who to trust. The book contains quite a few characters and it did take me a few chapters to get to know who everyone was, but once I did that the story flowed excellently. Jenna has supposedly given birth to a baby boy called River but what has happened to him as there doesn’t appear to be any sign of her newborn. From the very start I was rooting for Jenna but couldn’t figure out what was going on. Ginger and Peyton are the other female main characters and what is their connection to all this ? I loved each chapter pertaining to these characters and trying to figure out it all. Overall this is a great read that will have you frantically turning the pages trying to work everything out. I really enjoyed this as an audible read and found the narrator excellent.

What happened to baby River? That is what Jenna wants to know. But her husband Oliver and everyone around her told her River was dead. Jenna does not believe it and sets out to prove he is alive. This puts in motion one wild ride.

This started off confusing for me because too much jumping around from various POV with 2 other changes, Ginger and Peyton, but it all comes together. Twisted.

The Homemaker by Shari J. Ryan was a suspenseful psychological thriller mystery. It was the first book that I have read by this author. I noticed that Shari J. Ryan had written several historical fiction novels before she tried her hand in this genre. As a first attempt in the psychological thriller mystery genre I was impressed with her ability to capture my full attention. There were lots of twists and turns within the plot. It was told from the POV of three female narratives in an alternating timeline that switched back and forth from present day to the previous year. The characters were well developed and it was well plotted. I listened to the audiobook of The Homemaker that was very well narrated by Stephanie Cannon. Although Stephanie Cannon did a really good job narrating this book, I felt that it would have been even better if there had been three different narrators that represented each of the three female characters as they expressed their POV. This would have given me a much better understanding of who was saying what. The Homemaker captured my full attention right away. I also loved the cover!

Jenna and Oliver Milligan were newlyweds when they learned that a private listing had come available for a house that was for sale in their desired location. Upon taking possession of the home and moving in they quickly met some of their neighbors. Ginger, an empty nester and older woman greeted them with a welcoming gesture of food and Peyton, a contemporary, who soon became a good friend to Jenna. Very soon into the story, Jenna learned that she and Oliver were pregnant with their first child. Although Jenna had wanted to wait awhile before getting pregnant, she was pleased to discover that she was pregnant. Jenna and Oliver decided on a home birth. They chose a midwife who was recommended by their friend Peyton. Jenna’s pregnancy went well. The night that Jenna went into labor went as expected until Jenna woke up to find out that her baby boy, River, was missing. Oliver softly reminded Jenna that River had been stillborn. Jenna distinctly remembered holding River and feeling his feather wisps of baby hair. Had Jenna just imagined that? Was Oliver right? Struggling with the truth of what really happened, Jenna felt that she had to come to terms with everything that had transpired since the birth of her son. Had Jenna lost her precious baby boy in childbirth?

There were secrets galore throughout the pages of this addictive story. The Homemaker introduced themes of friendship, family, marriage, neighbors, mental health, rape, abortion, pregnancy, home births, midwives vs. hospitals, drug dependency and secrets and lies. The ending of this book left me quite confused. I’m still not sure what the ending was trying to convey. Beside the ending, I enjoyed all the drama that occurred in this neighborhood. Although I was able to guess a twist in the plot, it did not take away from the overall enjoyment I had of listening to this audiobook. I hope that Shari J. Ryan writes more books in this genre. I am a big fan! I highly recommend The Homemaker.

ARC audiobook provided in exchange for an honest review.

Stephanie Cannon did a wonderful job with the narration of this book! All the characters were well represented and I was always able to identify who was speaking. The story has lots of twists and turns, some I guessed ahead of time, and others I had no idea we’re coming. I really enjoyed the neighborhood dynamic and all the women with their secrets in the community. If you like psychological thrillers, don’t wait to check this book out!

I pull back the blanket to take another peek at my beautiful baby boy. My heart flatlines. He isn’t there. “Where is he?” I cry, my whole body trembling. But my husband just shakes his head. “Darling… we don’t have a baby.”

Well that drew me in! I expected to like but not love this book and I was right. The characters in this are well written and the story can keep you guessing right until the very end. A young married couple move into a new house in their dream area and immediately make friends with their neighbours, particularly another couple of a similar age to them.

Everything in this book is wrapped up neatly and all those little threads are tied off which I love. This is a book where the tension builds and builds.

If you love books that keep you guessing then I thoroughly recommend this! It is out today (June 12th)!

Jenna and Oliver look to be the perfect couple... but what secrets aren't being shared?
Moving to a beautiful new neighborhood they are looking forward to starting this next chapter of their lives together, but immediately start hearing about strange things happening in their neighborhood, including their own house.
The Homemaker is a psychological thriller that will keep you guessing the whole way through. Just when you think you might have figured out what happened, new information is given and you're back to square one.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it! The writer did an awesome job building the characters and keeping me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happens next.

I downloaded this audioARC from NetGalley to play while doing some admin.

It was really gripping, with the plot revolving around the experience of three women who are neighbours in a sought-after area. Ginger is an empty-nester whose husband has gone missing; Paton believes she is infertile after a botched abortion; and Jenna, who struggles with her mental health as she struggles to accept that her baby has died shortly after birth.

The author feeds us just enough information at the right times to suspect each of the revelations but never to be sure, so the tension builds and builds.

In the end, we discover the complete backstory of the women's interconnected lives and the true horror of their experience strikes us.

Not for the faint-hearted, but if you love a good domestic noir and are interested in the #MeToo movement, you will love this book as much as I did.

Will definitely be looking out for Shari J. Ryan's other books!
