Holy Moly, hold on because you are in for the ride of your life!!!

Shari J. Ryan knocked it out of the park. This was my first book from this author, and it will not be my last. The story was spread out by three female POV’s (Jenna, Ginger, and Peyton) with a past and present narrative. Although I would have preferred multiple narrators for this audible version, Stephanie Cannon did a great job keeping it well paced and enjoyable!

I was captivated from the first page, and it piqued my interest the entire way through. Ginger and Peyton had welcoming arms when their new neighbors Jenna and Oliver moved into their charming little town. However, the upcoming twists and thrilling ride of Jenna and Oliver's new life will begin to unfold. It started by falling in love, marrying your best friend, having a career you worked so hard for, and starting a family…. Who would have thought this fairytale would become your worst nightmare? Jenna’s story as a new mother suffering from postpartum depression after delivering her stillborn son River leaves one having chills and eyes filled with tears. This story and its plot have so much emotion… pain… and frustration built up that the ending will have one gasping for air when you didn’t even realize you were holding your breath!

Book publication is dated for June 12, 2023. This is the perfect summer read. Get on and pre-order this one today! I promise that you will not regret it!

Trigger warnings: pregnancy loss, sexual assault, mental health

I would like to end this review with a special thank you to #NetGalley and #Bookouture for allowing me to have an advance audible copy of the #TheHomemaker in return for a reputable honest review.

The Homemaker by Shari J. Ryan was an unbelievably good book! It's definitely an utterly unputdownable psychological thriller packed with heart-pounding twists. This was a wild journey!
I had an early chance to listen to an audiobook narrated by Stephanie Cannon thanks to NetGalley. I must say Stephanie Cannon have done absolutely brilliant job! I can't believe that she managed this book sounds like it has been narrated by multiple people! And was so easy to connect with this book! If there would be more stars, I would give them!

Jenna had it all - perfect career, a perfect husband and she moved into the perfect house in the perfect neighborhood. One day she will be ready for a perfect baby to make a perfect family, just not now.
On a moving day Peyton, a lady from across the street came around to welcome Jenna. Word by words, wine by wine and they both really connected. Ginger, another neighbor came around with chocolate chip cookies but after a small talk, she quickly left.
What started so perfectly ended in disaster as Jenna discovered that she is pregnant. She wasn't ready but accepted it and soon got absolutely excited. Unfortunately, life had a different plan, and instead of unconditional happiness Jenna has met the most unbelievable pain, they are saying her baby died!
Why she can't remember? Are they telling the truth? How life could be so cruel? Is it a life of just someone's twisted game?
This story is cleverly twisted and calculated! Secrets get unwrapped one by one and you can see how every single piece fits in to show you a perfect picture or I would say a perfect crime.

I highly recommend this audiobook or grab a book because this is a must-read book!

Thank you, Stephanie Cannon, Shari J. Ryan, Bookouture, and NetGalley for allowing me to listen to an advanced copy of The Homemaker!

This book is about three women, Jenna, Ginger and Peyton, who are all neighbors, and about their relationships and interconnections. Jenna and Oliver just bought a home in the neighborhood, but Jenna seems distressed. How are all of their stories connected?
This domestic thriller is not an easy one to summarize without spoiling anything! The story is told un dual POVs (Jenna and Ginger, a third POV, Peyton's, comes in later on) and dual timelines (the present and one year ago, when Jenna just moved in to the neighborhood). Since I listened to the audio book, it took me a while to figure out who was who and when, therefore it felt like a slow start, but I still was very curious to find out what the heck was going on in this neighborhood! It was predictable, I had most of it figured out from very early on, but I enjoyed the twists and turns the author took me through, and I was very invested to find out whether I was right! Although there were some plot holes in the story, this was entertaining. I listened to the audio book, and the narration was great. If you like a quick, fast paced domestic thriller with unreliable narrators, this is for you!
I received an advance review copy of this book for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The Homemaker, by Shari J. Ryan

Holy Moly! A devastatingly brilliant book!

Jenna is a lawyer with a wonderful husband and a gorgeous house in an idyllic neighbourhood. After the birth of her son, River, she is admitted to a psychiatric hospital and questioned about her drug use.
Jenna is told that her baby boy was stillborn, but she just can’t and won’t believe it. She remembers the warmth of him, remembers looking into his eyes and remembers hearing his first cry.

The main characters in the book aside from Jenna, are Ginger and Peyton, her neighbours. They were great characters and the suspense as to what their involvement could be was built with clever hooks, twists and reveals throughout the story.

Jenna is an intelligent woman and she knows she’s not a drug user, she knows she doesn’t have psychiatric issues, but she’s powerless to prove anything, while she’s in the hospital.

I just couldn’t imagine being in that position. I felt terrified for her! I loved this intriguing mystery.

Narration by Stephanie Cannon was excellent. Clear, well paced and great expression.

5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for an ARC in return for an honest review.

I absolutely loved this book, and easily one of the top thriller mysteries that I listened to this year. The author holds you in suspense throughout the entire book, and not until the end of the book do you realize that everyone’s lives are all connected by one person’s persuasion on them. Then when the main character starts connecting the dots and realizing that her best friend and husband are not who they seem.

All I have to say is WOW.

This was my first introduction to Shari J Ryan and I was absolutely blown away. I was on the edge of my seat as the twists began to unfold.

It’s hard to summarize without giving much away but the blurb does not do Justice to this story.

Thank you to NetGalley, Shari J Ryan and Bookcouture Audio for this ARC.

Unreliable narrators (yes, plural)? Check.
Multiple suspects? Check.
Constantly questioning what is reality? Check.
Husband possibly making the wife think she's losing her mind? Check.

I loved this book. It's one of my favorite thriller tropes tbh.

Halfway through I thought I had it all figured out, but there were a couple twists in there that made this one stand out. I honestly want to reread already to catch on to the things I missed.

Unreliable narrators are so fun, especially when there are multiples.

Thank you for the e-arc of this book. I can't wait for it to publish so I can order the physical copy!

The Homemaker was a heartbreaker! It has a lot of emotion in a neatly wrapped package.

We're thrown right into the flow of things in the neighborhood, which is how I like it. I like to learn as I go, not be bored to tears in the first half for the sake of a few back stories.

Jenna is moving to this charming little street with her husband Oliver. She quickly meets Ginger, the empty nester, and Peyton, the younger woman who makes life look easy but you know deep down, she's struggling.

Jenna also knows that something tragic happened to the former house occupants so when tragedy strikes them, she wishes they'd never moved here.

You see, Jenna fell pregnant soon after moving here and her home birth went wrong and the baby was stillborn.. or was it? Jenna is having a hard time accepting this so she's determined to seek the truth, even if it hurts.

I sensed something wicked was afoot early on, and I was quickly sucked in. This all seemed like part of a bigger plan and everything makes sense in the end.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to listen and review. The narration was wonderful. This was my first by this author but won't be my last.

Holy mother of twists! I seriously enjoyed this audiobook, and the narration by Stephanie Cannon was brilliant.

This was my first book by this author, but it won't be my last.
She crafted a wickedly twisted story with multiple POV, shifting from the past to the present, but found it easy to follow along once I was invested in the characters.
I think everyone will enjoy this fantastic book. I know I couldn't stop listening.

Thank you to Bookature Audio, Netgally and ShariJ.Ryan (author) for this advanced copy. Reviews and opinions are all my own and voluntary.

Thank you Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for this audio ARC.

I have wanted to get back into thrillers after a few years' break and this was the perfect book to bring me back into this genre.

I really felt for Jenna the whole way through. You could really feel the confusion, the tension and the frustration she was experiencing throughout this rollercoaster of an experience.

It was a bit predictable at times, but it was all so well done that i didn't care. I struggled a bit to figure out the timeline and the different POVs, but after you get to know the characters, it becomes easier.
Stephanie Cannon did a fantastic job at narrating and switching between the characters' voices.

This twisty domestic thriller was dizzying.

DIZZYING?
The book unfolded from the POVs of 3 female unreliable narrators -- frequently jumping back and forth from past to present.

Other characters introduced were spouses, a mother, sons, and neighbors.

By the time the "finish line" was reached and the book ended, I was suffering from an acute case of motion sickness.

In spite of experiencing acute motion sickness, I was able to easily predict the book's major twist.

In addition to being dizzying, the book suffered from plot holes and waaay too many "this would never happen in real life" moments.

To avoid spoilers, I will refrain from citing specific examples.

I listened to the audiobook read by Stephanie Cannon, who did an outstanding job with the narration.

This being said, the book would have benefited from three narrators reading the three different POVs.

This was a 9.5-hour audiobook that easily could have been a 7-hour audiobook.

TRIGGERS: Pregnancy loss, Sexual assault

Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

2.5 stars, rounded up.

“I pull back the blanket to take another peek at my beautiful baby boy. My heart flatlines. He isn’t there.” What a scary quote. What happened to her child?
Jenna is dealing with lot. Postpartum depression from the birth of her son River, who was stillborn and moving into a new home have overwhelmed her. Her husband enters her into a treatment center and she does not know why she is here!
The lady across the street Ginger whose husband disappeared. She is also dealing with a lot on her plate.
Jenna does not believe her son died. This novel had so many propelling twists, that had me guessing. I did guess part of it, but that does not take away from the story. The narrator did a wonderful job of voices and was easy to follow.
Thank you Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for this thriller. This is due out June 12, 2023.

Not many books make me audibly say “wow”, The Homemaker made me say “wow’ multiple times. It’s a great story full of crazy twists and turns all the way to the conclusion.

This is a psychological thriller that follows a new mom who is dealing with the unfortunate death of her newborn. Or is she? The setting is in a small neighborhood where no one can keep to themselves making me happy in my choice to not get to know my neighbors.

Jenna refuses to believe her son did not make it through birth. She remembers holding him and hearing him cry. Her husband says that he was stillborn and that she could not hear him cry. You will go back and forth about who you believe. This really kept me guessing and I can’t recommend this one enough.

Jenn remembers giving birth to her son, River, and holding him in her arms; but her husband tells her the baby did not survive. Is Jenna suffering from postpartum psychosis? Her husband chacks her into a mental health facility to help her come to terms with the truth. Meanwhile, back in the neighborhood Jenna and Oliver have just moved into, we learn more about the origins of their house, one the neighbors say is cursed. Told from multiple viewpoints, this novel has several unexpected twists that will shock and delight readers

I knew it! I knew it! I knew it!!!

But, not in a "this book is predictable and boring" way. Shari J. Ryan had me going for a while, but overall, I kind of guessed at least part of the ending. Fully satisfying ride for a reader.

The Homemaker begins at the end and early on we learn a new mom has lost her child, and those close to her question if she was the cause of his passing. Ryan did this end to beginning style very well. The rest of the neighborhood drama reveals surprises and puts the puzzle together very well, both not knowing, and kinda knowing, all the way to the end.

As an audio book, narrator Stephanie Cannon was perfect. To me, a 4 decades audio listener, the best narrator blends into the background - you don't notice the different voice accents, but you do recognize the characters when they speak. Well done.

Highly recommend this one when it releases on 6/12/23.

This was a bit hard to follow at first with multiple timelines and characters. It all wove together neatly. A lot of surprises I didn’t see coming with Ginger and Peyton. Enjoyable listen. Good job by the narrator.

Despite loving the concept of this audiobook, I had to DNF it at 25% due to the narration. I would still like to read this as the characters seemed interesting and the storyline was appealing. I will keep an eye open for the physical copy. Unfortunately this audiobook is.a not for me.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the free audio book in exchange for the honest review. This is narrated by Stephanie Cannon, who does an exceptional job. Its so easy to distinguish between the voices of the 3 narrators!!

What a thrilling read!!! This has it all for a modern day domestic, psychological, suspenseful thriller!! There are 3 women narrators: Ginger, Peyton and Jenna. Ginger is estranged from her 4 sons as her husband disappeared under suspicious circumstances. The Sons believe their mother killed their father and hid his body. Jenna is an attorney who has married, purchased her dream home in the neighborhood which just so happens to become available as a private sale. Jenna, a career focused woman suddenly finds herself pregnant. Peyton is also a young married woman who becomes pregnant and befriends Jenna. But Jenna's home delivery goes horribly wrong and we are off!

There is so much happening in this story! I don't want to give anything away but I will say that the character development was great, the 3 narrators' stories did intersect well and the climax of an ending was fabulous! I did guess early on what would happen but I did not care as the story was so juicy.

Highly recommend!!!

This one hurt. This poor woman is coping with the ultimate loss. Nothing is making sense for her and there is a lot of sketchy stuff happening.
I was walking around yelling "No!" every 15 mins or so. It was a lot of scary drama.
And the body in the vacuum sealed bag! WTF?!
Seriously listen to this. The narrators were perfect.
