Theo suddenly loses his mother and is taken in by his mother’s best friends family. He is miserable. On top of everything else, his is remembering things that didn’t happen to him. Reef loves to garden and do things that don’t live up to his father’s expectations. Suddenly, Reef is also remembering things that didn’t happen to him. The boys do find each other and start to figure out what might be happening.

What a great middle grade read! Love how invested you get with the characters and need to see what happens next! Another great book by Gordon Korman!

Another great book from Gordon Norman. This was a fun read about two boys with nothing in common that find themselves sharing memories. They have to work together to figure out what is happening.
It was fully enjoyed by my students as a kids mystery/science fiction style read that is age appropriate.

I received a free copy of, Mixed Up, by Gordon Korman, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Theo lost his mom and his family, living with a foster family is not easy especially when his foster brother hates him. Theo starts having other memories that are not his own, and losing his own memories, which are so precious to him, because they are memories of his mom. Reef Moody has been getting Theo's memories, and losing his own. This was a great read, I felt so bad for Theo, losing his mom and nobody believing in him or sticking up for him, then to start losing his memories and gaining someone else's. This book was a little freaky.

If Gordon Korman writes it, I will read it. His writing style is always quick and easy to read, makes you care about the characters, and leaves you wanting more (in a good way). Mixed Up is a great middle grade novel!

Gordon Korman does it again! I enjoyed the character development and how, even with mixed up memories, the characters weren't confusing to distinguish. The premise of people switching memories was a new idea for me and Mr. Korman did an amazing job of fleshing out the story in a way that didn't feel rushed or prolonged. Definitely going to get this for my classroom library.

I liked this book so much that I intend to recommend it for our district's Battle of the Books list for the following school year! Our students love Gordon Korman, and this one is sure to capture their attention as well. As you are dropped into the book and realize the boys in the alternating perspectives are connected by swapping memories, the book pulls you in because you must know how this could be happening. Additionally, in true Korman fashion, the reader grows to care for each character and the people around them, and genuinely want to see how they fair. The way Gordon Korman writes makes reading his books enjoyable and thought-provoking. I never have trouble getting into a Korman book. The pacing is always just right to keep me turning page after page. I definitely will purchase for my collection.

Gordon Korman is one of my go to favorite authors. I love his books and they are easy to recommend to students. I am always love that there are vital lessons or sensitive topics presented in his book in the best possible way. It gives kids a great learning experience in an way they don't realize they are learning. This book gives us a hilarious experience packed with action, tension and authentic middle-school angst, personalities and dialogue. Would make for a fun read aloud

This was my first book by Gordon Korman and oh WOW… he get you invested in characters and their developments!

I will say that the major part of the story I felt very not on board with but I’m also not a teen and I think that many kids I’m this age group will love the what almost feels like… Freaky Friday of it all. Both Theo and Reef won my heart and how amazing would it be to visit these characters plus supporting characters again. I mean come on by the end I was rooting for Declan!

I definitely will be checking out more of this authors work!

Thank you Netgalley and Scholastic Press for this advance ecopy!

Reef and Theo are two boys born on the same day in the same hospital. They know nothing of each other until they both start having weird memories that do not belong to them. After tracking each other down. they figure out how to undo the problem...or so they think.

This book was not as good as others that I have read by this author. I kept looking for a theme and am still not sure what kids should get from it.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC.

Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read an advance copy of this book. Gordon Korman still hasn’t written a book that’s not a complete success in my opinion. This one follows 2 boys who mysteriously begin having odd memories. They must work with each other and some unexpected helpers to right the mysterious occurrence. Warning: includes many references to a mothers death due to Covid.

A fun read that kids will love when they find out that Reef and Theo both remember things that never happened to them. When they meet each other, Theo wonders if Reef is the connection to answers he’s been looking for. Reef wonders why would I be experiencing Theo’s memories? As the boys talk, they ask what’s happening? After finding out they share the same birthday and were born in the same hospital they wondered if something unusual had happened that day. After learning there was a lightning strike when they were born, they decide they need lightning to undo what happened to them. What ends up happening?

Theo and Reef are two twelve-year-olds who don't seem to have a lot in common. Reef's mother passed away during the COVID pandemic and he's living with the family of his mom's best friend. Theo lives across town with this "perfect" family, but Theo is a disappointment to his father because he isn't athletic and doesn't hang with the popular crowd.

However, Theo and Reef do have one very important thing in common; they share many of each other's memories. This "connection" leads them to find each other. They ultimately decide that the only way to move forward in life is to find a way to sever the connection. The misadventures they go through while trying to reclaim their own memories make this book a fast-paced and entertaining read.

In many ways, Mixed Up reflects the typical Middle School experience. Friendships come and go, while improbable events occur with everyday frequency. Theo and Reef are likable characters, and most other characters in the story are well-developed. At times, it felt like Reef's sadness and Theo's issues with his father are glossed over in favor of the buddy adventure aspects of the book. However, there isn't anything objectionable in this book and young readers will enjoy it.

Mixed Up is a recommended purchase for public and middle-grade school libraries (Grades 5 -9).

My son read this book. He enjoys Gordon Korman book because they are about children who are his own age. (12)
He considered this title to be exciting... a book that made you want to keep reading.
He liked how the chapters alternated between different people's point of view. He stated that it was nice to be able to consider the viewpoints of the two different characters.
The redemptive element of the story was one of the main things that he admired. He also enjoyed that one of the book's themes was adoption.
We recommend this title.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to preview this book before its release date.

Gordon Korman is an always go-to author for young people (and older readers can enjoy this work, as well). Mixed Up is creative and inventive, and the story keeps the pages turning. Another wonderful work from a master author.
