Stop it right now, I am OBSESSED with Dragged to the Wedding and fully expect it to become my entire personality for the next few months.

I am a sucker for a fake-dating trope. But pair that with the fresh perspective of one participant being a Drag Queen and you've entered a world celebrating queer joy, self-love, and overcoming super tough obstacles.

Andrew Grey managed to weave some of the hardest topics facing the LGBTQIA+ community into this story (police presence and brutality, homophobia, issues within the church) while doing it in a way that supported the story instead of taking away from the central love story of Dragged To The Wedding.

Lala/Daniel/Daniella is simply the most wonderful character, determined to make sure James's sister has the wedding of her dreams. Holly and Margot are adorable sisters and supporting characters, and by the end of the book, I even found myself loving James's parents.

This was such a fun read while dealing with some very important issues people face on a daily basis.
I loved Daniel so much, he was by far my favourite character and the character development James went through thanks to Daniel.
There’s humour, tension, angst and important topics surrounding families and the pressure to be someone we don’t want to be.

Billed as The Birdcage meets The Wedding Date and after reading this, I agree, although I think James's mother, Grace, was a nightmare, even worse than Dianne Weist and Gene Hackman combined in The Birdcage. I despised her character - immensely and thoroughly. This is a good time to add that I applaud Mr. Grey's writing as he is obviously very gifted at making readers feel many emotions.

Regarding readability - I had to step away from this at times because of Grace and her awfulness. But when I wasn't wishing violence on certain characters, I really really enjoyed reading this. The story flowed and felt realistic.

Dragged to the Wedding is fun, and timely. It also makes you really think. If you’re anything like me, it will also infuriate you at parts.

James needs a date to his sisters wedding, but his family don't know he is gay.

James is a cop in Chicago having to go back to Montana for this wedding. Daniel is a Drag queen working as Lala Traviata while caring for his gran. The two make a deal, Daniel will pose as Daniella and be James' plus one for the wedding week. Of course things do not go to plan and drama ensues.

I love how fun and easy this was to read, I powered through it in one day. Both characters feel fleshed out and loveable. The author keeps the books feeling light and easy, even when tackling heavier topics such as coming out, a religious family and the possible non-acceptance of the truth. With all romance I feel like not every single second is believable but 98% of it is which allows me to get fully immersed in the story. I love how both characters have you routing for them and the time they get to know each other is a pleasure to read.

Fun, fantastic read and I highly recommend it.

Fun, light and fabulous! This had everything I want from a romance: depth, character development, tension, and intrigue, without a whole lot of fluff. The romance aspects were great—centered on really getting to know each other before any bedroom scenes.

This book also addressed some issues that LGBTQIA+ people have to deal with in their everyday lives. I loved how relevant and authentic those moments felt.

Overall, a very fun read, with some real tear-jerker moments towards the end.

A very cute romance between a cop who doesn’t want to tell his parents he’s gay and a drag queen that was helping him out with his sister’s wedding as his plus one. It was a quick and sweet read. There were many laugh out loud moments which were amazing!!!! I loved that the couple were sweet and accepting of each other. The epilogue was my favorite part. Overall, a great story that I highly recommend. Don’t miss this gem of a book. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my ARC in exchange for my review.

Great quick read - finished in two sittings. Loved the characters and the plot. More PG than I’m used to but love supporting male authors in this space and will be looking for more from this one! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!

What an incredibly fun book Dragged to the Wedding was! I wasn’t sure what to expect and sped through it soon after I was approved (thanks to the publisher and Netgalley).

James is looking for a fake-date for his sister’s wedding. It needs to be a woman because his family don’t know he’s gay - and his preferred choice is on the injured list. When a friend sets him up with ‘Daniella’ (aka a drag queen with the most fantastic moniker) who also happens to be Daniel - who for a fee will pretend to be his girlfriend for the duration of the wedding festivities. Can’t see any issues on the horizon. Can you?

What follows is a charming satire on weddings and the challenges these celebrations present within families. For James - a reportedly tough and accomplished cop, the wedding has filled him with a fear of disappointing his parents. He wants the whole thing over and done with, to go back to his closeted, reasonably emotionally safe life. He’s not prepared for the impact Daniella has on him and his family in such a short time, and he wonders what it would be like to live and love so authentically. Amongst the humour, fun and hilarity, there’s angst and wanting, challenges to gender roles and stereotypes, questions about religion, and a whole lot of discourse (eventually) about being gay, coming out, and acceptance/non-acceptance. There was also a little mystery thrown in for a bit of subplot.

Daniel was the making of this book for me. He’s the real MVP!

Loved this! So fun, so heartwarming, and bittersweet, with all the drama that weddings can bring but in the wash made totally and utterly gay.
