This is my second book from Pip Drysdale and much like the first, I enjoyed this one.
Charlie discovers her husbands photo on a dating app and her life unravels from there. I was definitely intrigued and finished The Strangers We Know in an afternoon. It’s a quick easy read that kept me wanting to know what was going to happen, even if Charlie did annoy me at times.

This is my second book by Pip Drysdale and once again, I really enjoyed it! This author has such a distinct voice and writing style, and I always end up flying through her books and loving every minute of it.
I really had no idea where this story was going and what was going to happen. There were a lot of pieces to the puzzle, and I didn’t predict the big reveal at all, which is always so much more fun!
I loved the main character, Charlie. I thought she was a total badass while also being vulnerable and raw. She very much felt like a real person to me. I also loved that sense of humour that was sprinkled throughout the book. It can be tough to pull that off in a thriller, but I thought it was well done.
Overall, a fun and quick read for all you thriller lovers out there!
Thank you to Simon & Schuster Canada for my gifted copy. This one is out now!

Four stars for The Strangers We Know by Pip Drysdale
The novel The Strangers We Know by Pip Drysdale was a fast-paced, fun, and thrilling read. The book centers around the question: What would you do if you found your husband on a dating app? The prose is light and even breaks the fourth wall at time, addressing directly to the reader. The thriller reads rapidly and keeps you guessing the ending. I would recommend this book to any fan of a good modern thriller.

There was no possible way for me to devour this book fast enough. I was completely obsessed with the story and was totally consumed within its pages every free moment I got. It's fast-paced and exciting with tons of suspects and writing that will keep you looking over your shoulder.
The only downfall with this book was the ending. The last 10% just felt like it dragged on and on and on. For me, it started to feel like it was beating a dead horse. Everything that happened after the book hit around 90% was just not needed.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend this to thriller lovers. If you like this written into total completion and all wrapped up then I especially recommend this to you.

A quick read that i was hooked on right away, was very entertaining with some twists I didn’t see coming.

What would you do if you found your husband on a dating app?
That is the premise of this book. And it's a twisty tale. One that kept me turning the pages looking for more. It kept me guessing. The pace is steady. And in the end I never did guess how it would turn out. I can't lie, I am a romance reader predominately, so it hurt my heart a little how this all turned out in the end. But I really liked it. I would definitely read more from this author. Keeping it brief as to not spoil a thing, but absolutely recommend!
4.5 Stars ⭐

In 'The Strangers We Know', Pip Drysdale crafts an intricate tale where nothing is as it seems.
Charlie's discovery of her husband's dating app profile propels her into a dark, twisted journey that blurs the lines between victim and perpetrator.
With a plot that thickens with every chapter, the book feels like a dual narrative, seamlessly shifting from a story of betrayal to a desperate quest for truth.
The narrative races with urgency, sometimes brushing past revelations with a pace that might leave readers craving more depth.
Drysdale's Charlie is a character you can't help but cheer for, even as the story rushes to a climax that leaves you wanting just a bit more.
A must-read that's left me thrilled to discover what Drysdale pens next. 📚✨

Imagine if you saw your spouse on your friend’s dating app? This is what happens to Charlie, and that precipitates the unravelling of truth and lies in her life.
After the death of her husband, Charlie becomes an amateur sleuth as she tries to figure out what happened.
One of the twists was quite shocking and left me wondering, how well do we really know the people in our lives?
I really enjoyed the writing style, and it is definitely a fast-paced thriller that keeps you guessing.
However, I felt as though the two story arcs were a little disconnected, and I was hoping for a bit more of an explosive climax, but that’s just my own preference.
Overall, this was a fantastic read and one I would highly recommend to anyone who loves thrillers.

I was on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. What would you do if you saw your husband on a dating app? Well that is exactly what happens to Charlie, and as small lies begin to pile up her entire life spirals completely out of control. What happens when your wishes comes true but not in the way that you expected them to?
Incredibly fast paced and intriguing you will never see the plot twists coming and will be caught up with Charlie trying to untangle the web of deceit.

I binge read this one in a few hours. I was absolutely reeled in and enthralled. Pip Drysdale never fails to completely capture my attention and have me wanting answers so bad that I binge read until I get them. This one was wild and I never would have guessed the twists and turns until they happened and left me in complete shock. So well done and such an interesting writing format!

I was hooked from the beginning and the plkt kept me interested. i read this one quick!

A very quick, fast paced and entertaining read! It had a few good twists and though they weren't extreme, they were enough to really get me thinking!
The ending felt a bit rushed and a tiny bit anti climactic for me, but overall this was a great read that I would recommend!

A fast-paced domestic suspense about a cheating husband by a new to me author. This was a quick and entertaining read with a few interesting twists. Would recommend for fans of authors like Mary Kubica and Colleen Hoover. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review!

Charlie is scrolling on her bestfriend’s dating app when she gets the SHOCK of her life. She sees a picture that looks ALARMINGLY like her husband Oliver… and it is actually a photo that SHE took of him while they were on their honeymoon 😳
Charlie sets out on a downward spiral as she begins to snoop into her cheating husband’s life. She soon comes to find that seeing him on a dating app is the LEAST of her worries. WHO really is this man she married?? AND what else is he hiding from her??
You gotta love a book that you pick up and don’t put down until you’ve reached the closing acknowledgments! This book is super JUICY, suspenseful, fast paced and twisty and packed FULL of secrets, lies and BETRAYAL 🔪
Thank you kindly to @pipdrysdale @simonschusterca @netgalley for my advanced digital copy in exchange for my honest review! This book releases on November 7, 2023!

I was pleased to get a copy of this book and assumed it was new, but now believe it is a reissue, as there were many reviews from 2019 and 2020. I love Australian mysteries, and when I saw it had been a candidate for The Ned Kelly Award, I was anxious to read, but there was no sense of place, and the setting could be anywhere.
Charlie catches a glimpse of her husband's photo on a dating site while a friend is looking at the men's photos. She tells herself she was mistaken, but his photo was taken on their honeymoon. She is very concerned and appears unlikeable, unreliable, and unstable. She makes terrible choices, and her anxiety-ridden monologue is unpleasant to read. To illustrate her anxiety, sound effects were employed, such as ba-boom, to emphasize her pounding heart. Things will worsen for her, and she does not know who to trust.
Bringing the reader into the story was distracting, as when we are told to pay attention because something mentioned will be important later. Effort was noticeable in providing twists, but the plot was predictable.
I regret I did not finish and will not be giving a review.

Thank you to NetGalley and Simon and Schuster Canada for an advanced electronic copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
Charlie is happy in her life with a loving husband and great friends, until life throws her for a loop and she sees her husband on a dating app while her friend scrolls through. Is Oliver cheating on her? Turns out, that's the least of her worries...
Though this book wasn't completely shocking and surprising, it was definitely entertaining! This is my second read by Pip Drysdale and I'm starting to feel that they write reliably great mysteries. Definitely recommend!
CW: infidelity, murder, death, mentions of blood, mentions of suicide

The Strangers we Know by Pip Drysdale
I thought this was going to be a light women’s contemporary fiction but instead I was treated to this fantastic little mystery thriller!
This is a light and fast moving book. I was immediately hooked and couldn’t put it down.
Charlie believes she is living the ideal married life with Oliver, until she spots her husband’s photo on her friend’s dating app. Desperate to source out the truths, she starts detecting that her marriage is not all rosy and there may be some things she doesn’t know about Oliver.
I’d definitely recommend this book if you’re looks for a light mystery thriller, with a few twists and turns along the way.
Not recommended if:
- you’re looking for more of a dark-thriller or something that’s going to make you too afraid to turn out the lights!
- You want to read something over several days; once you pick this one up you won’t want to put it away until you’ve finished.
