First of all it’s not a bad book it’s just not my style I think. It’s a nice short book that is easy to finish and along with the writing it’s pretty easy to follow along. And I would’ve really liked this book but the only thing that I don’t really like is that there are way too many characters. My focus can’t handle that so I’ll get bored easily.
This is just a me problem so if you don’t mind a lot of characters you’ll love this book because the rest of this is good!!
Thank you netgalley for this ebook in exchange of my honest opinion
BLURB:
You are cordially invited to your Happy Ever After... Emma Love is a matchmaker who believes in old fashioned courtship, over swiping left or right. She's inspired by Jane Austen, Bridgerton and a thousand and one perfect romance stories, where matches were made at elegant soirees and not by sliding into your intended's DMs. This year, Emma is inviting you to a very special social season, where a hopeful singleton might find their own Mr Darcy waiting under the mistletoe. At a series of glamorous, festive, and, most importantly, romantic events, Emma is making it her mission to find love for everyone this Christmas Season. How will she fare trying to find perfect matches for the Price twins, both too busy trying to outdo the other to ever look for love? Can she encourage the sexy Season rake, Theo, to change his ways? And what of Hope Lucas, who Emma has failed to match before, but who still has faith that Mr Right is out there? And with Emma so focused on finding everybody else’s happy ever after, is she at risk of letting her own perfect match slip away?
MY REVIEW:
I was pulled into this book for two reasons. Firstly, it is set at Christmastime, and I am a sucker for Christmas romance books. Secondly, it referenced Emma, and I love Emma.
This was a super lightweight, very quick read. You will have no issues finishing this in an hour.
This book was really hit and miss for me, and I am still not sure if I liked it or not.
I did not like that Emma is already in a relationship with her beloved. I found this odd, that the main character in a romance novel were already in a REA relationship with each other.
There were way too many characters and subplots for the reader to try and keep straight. Honestly, by the halfway mark I really didn’t care about any of them anymore. With so many characters, you don’t get enough time with each of them in the book.
For a book that is set at Christmas, there is actually very little mention of the season at all, in fact, it has very little to do with the book at all.
I did like that this gave me Love Actually vibes, I love that movie!
Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book in return for my honest review.
This book is perfect for fans of Love Actually: it follows four couples as they find love, work through life’s challenges, and make relationships work. It is centered around four perspectives and is really easy to get into. A fun spin on having multiple love stories with a modern take of a regency twist!
What I loved: main characters are easy to root for, best friends to lovers trope, multiple perspectives.
What I wish was different: labeling whose perspective each section was from, further information about what happened to the couples afterwards, and less of the details of each event.

Unfortunately, this book got a lot wrong. Jane Austen would honestly be rolling in her grave. There are toooooo many characters as a focus and I honestly can’t keep up with them all. Grace is supposed to be someone I like (I think?) but she’s actually just not a nice person most of the way through the book. I don’t like that Tom and Emma are already together…that’s supposed to be the whole story? I don’t know. This one just left me flat and really not feeling the Jane Austen love.
A quick and cute read, The Christmas Season was all about finding love but also yourself. Though this one is the second title of a series (this wasn’t visible in the description or on GoodReads), I was able to get through despite not having read the first title.
I adore the concept of an old-fashioned season in modern times - making this appeal to me on a similar level as ‘Austenland’ by Shannon Hale.
Thank you to Hera Books and NetGalley for the DRC
The Christmas Season is a heartwarming, magical romance guaranteed to give you the warm and fuzzies. I didn’t realise it was a sequel at first but it works as a standalone and it didn’t take long before I was hooked! My only criticism is I would like more time with each character- they could quite possibly handle a story of their own.
However, the characters are well-developed and relatable and the reader is soon rooting for them to find their happy ever after. Engaging writing gives the book a natural flow, the plot is well-paced and the author does a fantastic job at keeping you engaged and invested throughout.
Overall a charming and heartwarming romance novel that is beautifully written and guaranteed to lift you up and put a smile on your face. Perfect for snuggling up with for a lazy afternoon. Fans of Jules Wake, Katie Fforde, Lindsey Kelk will love this.
3.5 stars.
I didn't realize until I was over halfway done that this was part two in a series. While I at no time felt lost or confused while reading this, making it a standalone, I think I would've connected more with Emma's story had I read the predecessor first.
The concept is fantastic. I love the idea of a modern Regency season where people are encouraged to let go of the instant gratification of online dating and seek meaningful connections.
But I felt like the season itself played very little role in the story. And having four couples to get together (or stay together in the case of Emma and Tom) in a 300ish page book means little time with each of them. I would love to have seen more details about the season events and the story split into two books: one focusing on Emma and Hope's stories, the other focusing on Grace and Connie's.
Regardless of it not really clicking with me, this was a sweet and very quick read.
With an element of Bridgerton ie the season this is a cute little romantic book about finding love but also finding yourself. Emma is obsessed with finding love for everyone with her company but this Christmas can she find it herself.
Prefect winter read by the fire.
This looks absolutely adorable!I cannot wait to acquire this and share it with our readers, it is going to be perfect for the upcoming holiday season. The cover is absolutely gorgeous that’s what drew me in first, but the storyline is equally adorable. I can’t wait to see what twin or both finds love and if our protagonist does too! ;)
