This is a super interesting read about candles. Not commonly known facts and interesting details about using candles make this guide useful and entertaining. Riddled with anecdotes and guides for tools to be used with candles, it makes for a quick and useful read.
Very Inspiring
The author begins by discussing his vacationing with friends in France, and on one occasion, he purchased a candle from a big department-store chain there in France. That candle was Au 17 by Maison Francis Kurkdjian. It has a luxuriously deep scent of incense, firewood, and warm amber. This was the beginning, not knowing to him at that time, of Sir Candle Man.
Sir Candle Man states that his life has been enriched by the joy of candles and scent, that he has been featured in many publications, attended the prestigious Fragrance Foundation Awards, made my own luxury candle collaboration, and all this led to him writing this book. He provides the following lessons that he has learned from his love affair with candles:
1. You Deserve Beautiful Things
2. You Can Make Your Own Life Beautiful
3. You Deserve to Take A Break
4. You Deserve Success
He discusses things you should consider when shopping for candles, and candle making supplies. He states that he believes that every home needs the four candle types:
1. A Daily Signature Candle
2. A Relaxing Candle
3. A Refreshing and Energizing Candle
4. A Bougie Luxury Candle
He discusses candle 101 basic, the various scents and uses of candles, and using candles for wellness and self-care. And foremost, he states that it is important to take a break from your daily life routine and scentscape your life with candles
to create the canvas on which to paint your dream life. And he states that we should not let other people’s opinions and expectations dictate what we like.
I found this book very relaxing, interesting, and inspiring. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in candles, whether for personal use or diving into the entrepreneurship as a candle maker.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable introduction to the world of candles for me. There is so much information in this book if you are like me. I love candles, I have WAY too many of them. 😂😂 I never learned very much about them or how to properly care for them before. I am so glad I picked this up!
Also, the pictures in this book are simple, but they are absolutely exquisite. Definitely worth picking up a copy of this book!
Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this eARC in exchange for my honest review on the book!
I flew through this book! I love scents, and Sir Candle Man clearly shares my passion. He gives a great overview of different scents, the moods they can evoke, and how he incorporates candles and scent into his life. I especially appreciate that he talks about how an inexpensive candle can spark as much joy as a very expensive candle!
He makes scent and candles of all prices ranges relatable and attractive.
Thank you Netgalley and Chronicle Books for the ARC!
It was okay.
The book covers candles in a way that leaves much to be desired. It basically has photography that covers almost the same type of candle throughout. And in this day of little crystals sprinkled on top and the great waxes it could have elevated the book in better photography. With such great topic, candles, I expected more. The text was well written.
I appreciated the chapter on real vs synthetic because it is important to understand waxes. Soy, apricot kernel, coconut waxes etc and avoid petroleum candles at all times.
I would like to thank NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review Let It Burn.

This book was a great book if you have no idea where to begain when it comes to finding candles and fragrances you might like. But it also felt like a book that was not needed.
