I love following Sazan online, but this book was not a great fit for me. It didn't have much depth, but I do love how her humor comes through!

I read A real good life as a digital book and gave it 3.5 stars. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review. ARGL is marketed as a self help book and while I do agree it is to an extent, I would also say it's part memoir as well and does focus quite a bit on religion, so I would keep that in mind when going into this book. While I didn't agree or relate with everything that was said it done, I did enjoy reading this book and getting to know more about Sazan and Stevie and their life and how they overcame challenges to create a good life. Overall, it was a pretty short and enjoyable read, and I will be taking some tips and information away with me and do recommend if you are interested in how Stevie and Sazan created a good life and the journey they had and continue to have.

They begin the book by sharing how important is to live the good life and to realize that this one day is an investment in the good life. We can learn to stay in the present. They looked at how we can build our mornings and run each day headed in the right direction. Reflecting on our intentions and be intention about choosing what we pay attention to. They shared the gaze strategy and how they set how they will be intention daily. Some of these included getting up an hour earlier, setting out clothes, reading the Bible, and taking time for yourselves. They covered how critical it is to build a good day by first looking in the mirror and speaking out positive words. When we speak negative words looking in the mirror it won’t help us in living the good life. They shared how everyone is different and how God has made us unique and two people are the same. David also explained how God created us in our mother’s womb and we are fearfully and wonderfully made. They enclosed some examples to assist us in writing down how we see ourselves and making simple declarations over our lives. They broke down how we can ask ourselves questions such as, is it true and who said it. They continued different things to do during midday, evening, and nighttime.

I would recommend this awesome book on living the good life and rediscovering your joy and peace. I liked how they covered a wide range of topics such as finding people who sharpen you, love you, and challenge you, and gather and doing life with them. I liked how the book when back and forth between both writers and told their sides of the stories. There was also an impactful story about her brother’s cancer journey and how showing up and gathering together can make the difference. There are tons of lessons enclosed in this book about living the good life and they will help you to refocus on what’s important.

I was interested in this book because I’ve followed Sazan for years, and it was a fun insight into her life and what matters to her. It definitely isn’t anything groundbreaking, it’s presented as a sort of “here’s how to create a good life for yourself” but it’s really just the stories of their lives and how they see a good life. Overall enjoyed but just wasn’t absolutely glued to it.

I follow this couple for a long time and when I saw that they'd written a book, I knew I had to read it! As with their podcast, once again they didn't disappoint. In this book we follow their story, the challenges they faced as a couple and how they overcame them together, with God and trying to live "the good life". Throughout the book they give advice on how to face some difficulties and it makes you think about your own life! I really liked the message the book conveyed 🥰🙏🏼

"Keep going.
Freedom isn't just a moment. It's a walk. And each step takes you closer to home." 💕

A Real Good Life: Discover the Simple Moments that Bring Joy, Connection, and Love by Stevie and Sazan Hendrix is an incredible memoir that is well worth reading. If you know this couple from social media, you’ll probably want to read their book just because of that. This book tells their unique story and it is a very interesting read just with that. But this book is mostly worth reading because of the message of this book. The authors have a strong faith in God and have relied on Him through huge life difficulties. This book is a strong testimony of God’s goodness and how He enables us to have a truly good life. Readers will find this book uplifting. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

I thought this book was good but nothing too special. I enjoyed the parts where Stevie and Sazan shared about their story and experiences. The other more "self-help" parts were just okay and I feel like I've read other books that say similar things.
