This is part recipe book and part a look into Reba’s life. The recipes she shares are country comfort food, some her own and others from her restaurant and friends. Main courses, sides, desserts, and drinks are included. They all look great to me. Nothing too complicated or pretentious, just like her. I loved reading about her life and her love of her family, faith, and Oklahoma. She’s funny and down to earth.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Celebrate for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Queen of country music, Reba McEntire, has released a new book that is part autobiography, part cookbook and life advice. Reba looks back over her storied career to invite readers to get to know her a little better and see behind the fancy curtain. It is a down to earth memory driven book with each chapter ending with a collection of recipes and photographs. The recipes are easy to understand with simple instructions and yummy photos. This is a wonderful glimpse into the lovely down home woman that she is and inspires others to keep trying new things and never give up. Her voice shines through like she is having a conversation with the reader. This is a great book and not just for country fans.
I have been a huge Reba fan since the 80’s. Over the years, I have felt as though I knew her, after reading this amazing book, I truly feel like I know her now
.Gave me the feeling of sitting on a porch with her with a cup of coffee as she told story after story.
Any Reba fan will cherish this masterpiece. I can not wait to try these wonderful recipes.
I grew up on Reba. Her TV show was phenomenal (I've seen every episode). Fancy was the first song I ever knew word for word, at three years old, even before Jesus loves me. I've seen her in concert. Reba is my woman! So when I saw she was coming out with a book, I HAD to get my hands on it!
I was hoping for more of a memoir when I requested this one from NetGalley, but even though it wasn't that, I still loved it. Reba tells lots about recipes, fashion, and stories about her life. Wasn't quite what I was expecting but I still loved it nonetheless!
Thank you Netgalley and Harper Celebration for the chance to read Not that Fancy by Reba McEntire. I became a fan after seeing Reba McEntire in concert years ago, and was excited when it was announced that she would become a judge and mentor on the show The voice! Not that Fancy is a wonderful hodge-podge of her life, the lessons she believes in to have a happy and fulfilling life, photos of friends and family, and recipes that she loves, and sound delicious! It's the perfect gift for a fan!
I have been a Reba fan for more years than I can count so I snatched this up as soon as I saw it. Not That Fancy by Reba McEntire is a delightful glimpse into her world. She truly aims to live simply and according to her own terms. She works hard, plays harder, and delights in sharing her wisdom and insights with fans. In this collection, Reba focuses on her roots coming from Oklahoma and the things she enjoys in life. The recipes are included are mouthwatering and I cannot wait to try them out in my own kitchen. Reading this book truly feels like you are sitting down over a good meal or a drink and listening to Reba share her stories with you. The multitude of pictures is an added bonus. The entries are thoughtful and meaningful and left me smiling many times. Thank you Reba, for sharing another piece of yourself with your fans.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.
As a Reba fan I could not wait for this book . The personal family photos were wonderful and the stories funny and made for a wonderful read. I did think some of the advice in this book a little outdated .
This is a definite must have for any fan of the country legend .
I just reviewed Not That Fancy by Reba McEntire. #NotThatFancy #NetGalley
I adored this book. It’s more than a cookbook in the best way. We get some deep and personal insight into this brilliant and talented woman. She shares some of her life journey in wonderful stories, some easy to follow delightful recipes that are accompanied by beautiful photography. I really enjoyed reading this book.
This book is part biography, part cookbook, and part advice column. Pretty much how you'd think Reba would be in real life, LOL. I loved reading about her early days in barrel racing (everybody forgets she comes from a Hall of Fame cowboy family), inside stories of songs and concerts, and her honesty re her relationships (seriously, her first date with Rex was at Sonic! Can you just imagine the carhop's face? LOL). The lifestyle and advice sections offer solid advice she received from friends, family and superstars, and then how she put it to use with her family. This book really lets you get to feel like you know Reba, and of course that makes you love her more ! The recipes may not be uber fancy, but they are solid recipes (many from her restaurant in OK), perfect for entertaining any time of year. Which makes this book PERFECT for giving for the holidays this year as a hostess present, of holiday gift. Even those who aren't big Reba fans will walk away from the book with a new appreciation for her career. Fans will feel like they've had a one on one sit down with her! So don't miss out on this book releasing this week!
A must read for any Reba fan. Even if you aren’t a fan, you will be after reading this book. She seems like such a fun, down to earth person. And there’s lots of yummy recipes included.
I have always loved watching Reba on tv and of course, listening to her music. So naturally when I first heard that she was writing a book, I got super giddy over it. I was able to get an advance copy and to say that she wrote that book well is an understatement. I loved the photos of Reba from when she was growing up and the things she did with her family. Plus this book also shares over 60 recipes of different appetizers and main courses from her very own kitchen. This is a great book for all who love Reba and to give as a Christmas gift this year!
Reba McEntire's "Not That Fancy" is a warm and inviting journey. With personal photos, heartfelt stories, and delicious recipes, it's like a country ballad that resonates with authenticity.
The photos capture a lifetime of memories, while the stories provide a lyrical narrative of Reba's adventures in rodeos, music, and love. The recipes scattered throughout are a nice addition, and I love the theme of the book and how well it flows.
If you love Reba, you’re going to love this book. If you don’t really love her or know who she is, you’ll fall in love with her while reading this book! This entire book is a masterpiece of Reba’s authenticity, and I loved it.

I’m a huge Reba McEntire fan so I jumped at the opportunity to review this book straight from the publisher. Reba’s little life anecdotes and quotes are steeped in southern culture and charm.
Learning a bit more about her early
Life and career as well as her stage and tv roles firsthand were amazing. Hearing about her love for family and her son and her new relationship gives fans a real insight into Reba McEntire.
This book is loaded with recipes to try and a few highlights on my list include: carrot cake with homemade frosting, hand breaded chicken tenders, cranberry white chocolate cookies, Nashville hot chicken, banana pudding and so much more. I have even discovered a new favourite beverage “The Fancy”.
In addition to all these wonderful insights and information, the book is also loaded with pictures from early childhood, career throughout the years and many from recent gatherings and experiences.
This is a must read for any Reba fan and is highly recommended for anyone looking for southern comfort and charm.

A fun, lighthearted, behind-the-scenes book with many pictures and over 70 recipes! While I generally would prefer a memoir, longtime fans will likely appreciate this coffee table book with a lighter, but still personal touch.
This book had lots of amazing recipes that I am excited to try out. It had a lovely mixtures of recipes and Reba's life and inspiration for the recipes.
I really enjoyed this book. Reba shares both funny and inspiring stories throughout this book as she takes you throughout her life. She also includes little snippets like the best places to eat in Nashville and the best movies/TV shows in her opinion. Also included are, of course, recipes that look really yummy. It’s just good, down-home Southern cooking. Some recipes are even from her restaurant, Reba’s Place. The pictures in this book are also high-quality and gorgeous. For a celebrity, Reba seems very genuine and down-to-earth. As she explains, life really doesn’t have to be all that fancy.
I’m a huge fan of Reba so naturally when I saw this cookbook I immediately requested a copy. What I love about this book is that this isn’t just a cookbook it’s lots of pictures and things about Reba’s life. The book talks about Reba’s life, her faith, and her childhood. She talks about her relationship with God all through the book and lists some of her favorite church songs. She talks about how she talks to God and ways you can talk to God. I loved all the little things in this book from a list of her favorite horses and Reba’s specific style including and I quote “And Put Some Fringe One It.” Melissa Peterson (Barbara Jean) herself talks about the tv show they were on together and her friendship with Reba. There is a lot of interesting articles from the story behind “ The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia.”
Date Night Ideas, her favorites from games, movies, tv shows & music. The book made me feel like I was really setting down with Reba hearing her talk. Some of her recipes that stuck out to me were : Homemade ranch dressing
Southern Burger ,Creamy Coleslaw ,Chicken tenders recipe ,Cowgirl baked beans, Homemade lemonade, Strawberry shortcake ,Reba’s Mexican Cornbread ,Crispy Smashed Potatoes ,Black Bean & Corn Salsa and
I especially love her recipe to Tator Tots. I’ll definitely be picking up this book in print.
Full of recipes and stories and all the charm we’ve come to expect from Reba, this book is a fun read. This would make a great gift for any fan of hers!
Jam packed with stories, recipes, pictures, and all around loveliness, this is a perfect coffee table book and would make a great gift for any fan.
It’s a peek into her life from the days she started back in Oklahoma through the pandemic and up til now when she’s back on tour again. Stories about how songs came to be and how she got to make certain choices along the way. I liked learning more about her faith and her family and the pictures were gorgeous! The recipes didn’t seem overly complex and ones I would definitely try.
It was an easy read and a book I’ll have to buy a physical copy of.
This cookbook is full of beautiful pictures and interesting stories. The recipes are well written and simple to follow. Ingredients are accessible. I can't wait to try some of them myself! And who doesn't want to eat dinner with Reba?
