I really enjoyed this book. It had a great small town setting, dual point of view and a big, rambunctious dog named Elliott. It was sweet and funny and full of Christmas. Though I did find it confusing at times, it was a great story that kept my interest throughout and I loved it.
Thanks so much to NetGalley and Avon for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
I wanted to love this book but was so confused after the first chapter that most of my mental energy was spent trying to figure out what was going on rather than enjoying the book.
I'm gonna start by asking you to read the blurb before you read the book, because there's a sudden shift in the plot in chapter 2 or 3, which you won't understand if you haven't read the blurb?
That was a bit jarring, but anyways, I found the concept of this book to be cool, it's a unique twist on the concept of time travel romances or romances where you change your past. And I loved the dog, Elliot!

Here is a new take on a "what if" moment in time. A Wish for Christmas is a story within a story blending the magic of Christmas hope and renewal for a couple facing a marriage crisis. Jonah and Noel, the married couple, fall asleep one night after unintentionally wishing on a snow globe given to them by a stranger. Both wake up separately, single, and with no memory of each other. What happens next is what makes this book intriguing and a worth while read. Ms. Cole's weaving of emotion, her take on each individuals viewpoint, as well as her brief insights into grief and Alzheimer, is poignant and thoughtful It's a light Christmas story to relax and escape realty for a few hours. Enjoy!
Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy for review.
I received a free copy of, A Wish for Christmas, by Courtney Cole, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Noel and her husband Jonah are just going through the motions, until when day they wake up in separate apartments separate lives, Will they be happier together or apart. I really enjoyed this delightful Christmas read. I also love the cover of the book, I love snow globes.
This was a new author for me and honestly, I didn't have high hopes after reading the summary and the first chapter. It was rather delightful though. The story that takes over in chapter 2 and beyond is akin to a Lifetime Christmas Movie. There's romance, humor, and drama throughout. It was mostly predictable, though, and I had a hard time with the ending. I understand how it's supposed to end, but I still had questions like "How could it really end that way?" If you're looking for a quick, easy holiday book, I recommend this one.
This is my first Christmas book this year. I love reading about small towns celebrating with snow and cheer and this had all of that.
This was a different take on a Christmas story and it gave me a similar feel like, Its a Wonderful Life. It was clean and sweet with a slow burn romance and a HEA.
Thanks Harper Voyager via NetGalley.
A Wish For Christmas is an amazing up-lifting story! I was drawn in by the gorgeous cover and the intriguing description but I found so much more than I expected. Jonah and Noel are at a bumpy place in their marriage, not particularly happy with their life decisions. They meet a mysterious old man with a magic snow globe and strange things start to happen when they no longer remember each other. They go back to their hometown each for personal reasons to help out their families. The attraction is there even if they don’t know why. There is so much fun in this book especially Elliot. He is a giant mastiff that you can’t help but to fall in love with. He is always into trouble with crazy hijinks. I laughed so much! He even has a pet kitty! There is family rivalry, lots of Christmas and a new story being written. This is such a refreshing feel good book that I know you will love it as much as I did.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to review an ARC of this wonderful book. All opinions are my own.
Christmas is a holiday that surrounds us with magic and miracles, so when an unhappy couple are given a magic snow globe all of their issue have been removed and they are left starting over. But with the little help from a quirky old man and an adorable slobbering dog, Noel and Jonah reconnect when they both go home. Trying to help their families leads them on a path to reconnection and hope while at the same time the reader is taken on a journey that has them laughing out loud and hoping for a HEA. Nothing is better than a Christmas miracle. This will be one of those books that the reader will return to every holiday season to enjoy a great love story as well as a heartwarming miracle.

This was so freaking good! It was the perfect Christmas Romance that I needed! I could so see this as a hallmark movie! I loved it! This reminded me of a regency romance book I read long ago that I absolutely adored and still think about.

a sweet Christmas story about a couple growing apart, but will a wish on a snow globe change things? very good read
Super cute tale to read to get into the holiday magic that Christmas can bring. This was my first book by Cole and I liked how she told the story of the main couple and the issues they were having in their marriage. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. Four stars.
I wasn't expecting this to be as heart wrenching and as heart warming as it was but here I am, quietly crying over this. I loved watching Noel and Jonah get what they think they always wanted and then their arcs from that, so much growth from them. I loved their sparks and Christmas vibes.
Courtney Cole’s Christmas books are so great! This one is no exception. The characters are incredible and it is by far my favorite of her Christmas books.
A wish for Christmas by Courtney cole publish November 2023. Married couple Noel and Jonah are growing apart. But when a gifted snow globe gives them a wish to change their lives. Will it really be the life they want. This is such a feel good sweet romance
Would you like a warm and fuzzy novel that revolves around Christmas wishes, family, friends, and a nice big dog with his sidekick?
This is it! This will have your heart singing and preparing for the magical season of Christmas!
Thank you to @NetGalley and to @Avon and Harper Voyager for this wonderful ARC and allowing me to read and to provide my own review.
I would love to see it on the Hallmark channel!
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Noel loves her husband Jonah. When she wakes one morning she has no recollection of being married. This is a great book to put you in the holiday spirit.
This novel is destined to be made into a made-for-TV, heart-warming Christmas film. It has all the right components – charming protagonists, a quaint small town, light humor, and a touch of magical realism.
Nora and Jack have been married since their sophomore year in college. Now in their late thirties, their relationship is fraying over the demands of high-powered careers and conflicting desires for a family. A fateful encounter with a quirky gentleman (who looks suspiciously like Santa Claus) gives them the opportunity to experience their lives without each other. The story unfolds as each one returns to their shared hometown during the holiday season to encounter a growing conflict between their parents over the town’s future. While Nora and Jack are likeable and engaging characters the star is Elliot, a 200-pound mastiff with an outsized personality to match his girth.
Besides romance, the story addresses some significant issues: love, loss, unresolved grief, and the care of loved ones with dementia. These are realistically managed with sensitivity and grace without bogging down the overall “feel-good” quality of the novel. Overall, this is a wonderful novel to tap into the Christmas spirit any time of year.
My thanks to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for the privilege of reviewing this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
