Sarah Ready has quickly become a favorite go to author for me. This is my 5th book of hers and I have not been disappointed with any of them.
The Space Between took me on one of the more heart-wrenching book journeys I have been on in a long time. Ready writes characters that I want to spend my time with and that I don't want to say goodbye to, The story lines are well plotted, engaging, and so beautifully written. Andy and Jace's story is filled with heartache and tragedy and love. This one is one I will read again and again it was that beautiful.
Thank you to Netgalley and W. W. Crown for providing me an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Jace and Andrea couldn’t be more different. Jace comes from the Bronx where the only things he has are his love for music and his brothers. Andrea lives in a world full of money and prestige in the upper East. Their lives would never cross. Until they meet in Central Park and their lives are forever changed.
This book, although it contains many aspects of a traditional romance book, it is so much different. It has two pov’s and follows three different timelines, but instead of alternating between past and present, we get to follow the characters from the time they meet up until when life pulls them apart. We then enter Part 2 which is their lives 8 years after. I liked this structure because we really get to learn about the characters and see them in a different light than if we didn’t know what caused them to draw away from each other into completely different lifestyles.
I loved these characters. I felt like their backgrounds and lifestyles were interesting to read about, and I liked that the author strayed away from more of the traditional tropes when creating her characters. They were likable, but there were times when I was not rooting for them completely. I also did predict several things that would happen throughout.
What made me enjoy this book so much was that there were deep and emotional moments. I love when the story has a deeper purpose. There was not too much of a focus on the physical aspect of their relationship which can sometimes take away from the story for me. There teenage love was so pure and sweet, and the way they continued loving each other even when they were apart was so heartwarming.
I loved this book so much! The settings were really interesting to read about, there were so many good quotes, and the story was so cute. I would highly recommend!
4.5 stars
Don’t mind me as I type my review through tears! WOW!! What an incredible story! I loved every second of it!! I felt so many emotions, happiness, anger, annoyance, sadness, love!!! I will recommend this to EVERYONE!!!!
I am a new fan of Sarah Ready. I fell in love with her last book, French Holiday, so I was looking forward to reading this one. Such a great read. It wasn't a fluffy novel to say the least - the characters were complex and the traumas and life they had endured was riveting. Great plot, some tears and all around heartwarming and enjoyable read.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.
This book was just what I needed right now. It broke my heart, and put it back together multiple times. I loved the interweaved storylines and how there were time jumps. Everything was realistic and so well written!
This book left me speechless. It was emotional, heartbreaking and full of love. I couldn't put this down and was immersed in this story and characters right from the start. It is told in a dual point of view, which I love. Great love story!
This really is a captivating story, written in an immersive writing style and told from the dual PoV of Andi/Andrea, a double personality uptown girl and Jace, an orphaned musician. There is a great dynamic between all of the characters, with you feeling invested in their welfare from the first chapter, and even the character of Reid, who is easy to hate initially, you come to love in a way you would never have expected. The story is a real emotional rollercoaster, which is both heartbreaking (I cried buckets) and heartwarming. Family betrayal had my heart aching, with me dying to find out what happened next and for the wrongs to be put right: But as the relationships developed, they felt natural and authentic, perfectly demonstrating that it is possible to love in more than one way. I listened to the audio version of the book, with dual narrators and I thoroughly enjoyed it: But I also requested the ebook, because I couldn't put the book down, alternating between reading and listening to the story (huge thanks to NetGallery for the read/listen now for this most excellent of reads). The book is out on July 25, 2023 and I cannot recommend it enough.
This has a relatively simple premise; the ups and downs of a love story (between Jace and Andi) spread across many years.
I found the character of Andi really compelling, and I loved watching her story unfold. I must admit I never really connected to Jace and found his intensity both unrealistic and claustrophobic.
I'm not a big fan of whirlwind, love-at-first-sight romances, so their initial declarations of love and marriage at the age of seventeen was a bit much for me. It was actually their time apart that drew me on the most. Some of the characters had amazing journeys of growth (Andi and her childhood enemy, Reid, in particular), which I really enjoyed, but this really highlighted the lack of growth for others (i wanted to see more layers from Reid and his family).
This book was not an instant hit for me, but it grew on me by the end, and I can see why some people would love it.
I was so excited to get a chance to read this book after Sarah Ready blessed me with the French Holiday arc which I can say is now one of my all time favorite books with no question. This book was a dual pov with emotional stories for both the main characters. A beautiful all or nothing romance that the characters have to work for in the whole book. This was a little on the longer side but nothing that wasn’t unwanted because these two on the pages were anything but basic. Thank you again Sarah Ready for blessing me with your beautiful writing and arcs, and thanks NetGalley!!
When two people from opposite sides of the track have a chance meeting that spark an unrequited love. Andrea Leighton-Hughes has a life full of expectations and a demands. Jace Morgan has a heart full of music and passion but limited opportunity. When true love strikes, the two set out together much to the chagrin of Andrea’s parents and Jace’s brothers. But love can only take you so far when the world is against you. Years later the two happen across one another and the passion is reignited. The hurdles are many and at times the cost seem too much. Andrea makes choices and Jace must understand without truly knowing all the facets. This is a story of redemption, true love, and fate.

Oof. This reminded me of a movie. I can’t think of the name, but even if I could, I wouldn’t drop it here, because it would ruin some of the goodness.
And Ughhhhhh! I didn’t want to like it! All these overtly wealthy people in their golden towers, diamond encrusted shoes, jet-setting all over the planet with their bucketloads of money…
Yea, maybe I’m kinda stubborn and slightly pessimistic with my little ole black heart…
But whatever, it doesn’t matter because I loved it anywayyyy!
I loved it even though it made me so angry!
Midway, I told a friend of mine that I wanted to put my kindle under my tire & drive over it🥴
It’s friends to lovers.
& Heartbreak.
It’s enemies to lovers.
& Heartbreak.
Friends, heartbreak, strangers & love. It’s just all the things!
There’s so much happiness & so much love, but there’s just as much pain. My emotions were so jacked up!
I’ve never read Ready before but I will definitely read her again!
I couldn’t flip these pages fast enough.
I read all 540 today. The first 440 were at work…🥴
So yep. That’s all ima say, other than…..
Just. Read. It.

Big thanks to NetGalley and WW Crown for this arc in exchange for an honest review!
The Space Between is a dual-pov romance which follows Jace and Andi, two teenagers growing up in very different circumstances in New York City. Andi is a wealthy heiress living in a penthouse with her family, looking for a meaning in life, whereas Jace is an orphaned boy from the Bronx, with a love for music. After meeting during an altercation with Jace and Andi's childhood friend, Reid, Andi and Jace hit it off and enter a relationship. However, with their different backgrounds not everything is clear sailing.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, but I think the stand out part is Andi's point-of-view and the character development of Reid. Her characterisation and the way in which she approaches life is clearly explored and enjoyable to read. She is thoroughly likeable and understandable. Especially entering into the second part of this book, her perspective is the most exciting and engaging part.
I really enjoyed how the story developed overall. It was a fast-paced read, and while at times I would have enjoyed more depth, I felt that it reflected the twist that happened and shows how quickly life does move when you're in love.
I think where this book falls down in Jace's character building. I found myself not especially caring for him, only really intrigued by the rockstar lifestyle, but not necessarily rooting for him. It would have been good for the book to provide more depth about him, but the excellence of Andi's character building makes up for it.
I also did not feel the love story of the two main characters was that believable. There was not enough to draw me in at the beginning and it felt a bit like insta-love. There is also a lot of miscommunication. However, again, this is made up with the beauty of the second part. The second part was so gut-wrenching and emotional, and I think this is the unique aspect of the book!
I'd read this book if you like reading about the lives of the rich and famous, or if you want a fast-paced romance that you can fly through.
Read this today. you will enjoy it a lot and want more. Read it, read it , read it. Enjoyed it from start to finish.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Oh wow, I was not prepared for this. A heartbreaking, beautiful story of two people so immersed in each other, it hurt to see the sturddles they went through to be together . I was specially impressed by the gentleness of their relationship, the lack of toxicity is such an ideal quality. Unrealistic? Maybe, but still the level we all dream to be.
Special thanks to W.W.Crown and Netgalley for proving an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
"The Space Between" is characterized by its raw and authentic portrayal of human emotions. The author's prose is evocative, allowing readers to feel the characters' joy, pain, and everything in between. The pacing of the story is well-balanced, capturing both the intense moments of passion and the quiet moments of reflection.
The Space Between by Sarah Ready is an emotional ride with ups and downs, tumultuous relationships and unexpected heartbreaks.
When I first started listening to this book, I was under the impression that it was going to be a tooth-rotting, fluffy read with a few twists and turns before a happy ending. Instead, I found myself crying at 3 a.m. about characters that I didn't question were important to the story.
The beginning of this book was slightly cliché, rich girl that hates being rich meets a poor boy with a traumatic past and a dream. It was even highlighted by some immature comments made by both Andrea and Jace, but I was pleasantly surprised that the story matured with the characters. Not just Jace and Andrea, but also River, Dallas, Reid and Pauly; even Andrea's mother.
It's the perfect book about love and heartbreak; in more ways than just romantic. Despite the flaws in the characters and the slight cliché and stereotypical sentences said throughout, it's still a great book.

My reading of The Space Between e-book was accompanied by the audiobook. That's what I call a win-win situation. I enjoyed the experience of having a dual sensory experience, allowing me to immerse myself in the story in a whole new way.
My thoughts:
Sarah Ready has done it again with a captivating tale that brings the reader into an entirely different world. Coming-of-age characters come alive as they navigate trauma, love, loss, mistakes and living in the moment. Experiencing the complexity of the characters was refreshing. By navigating between the various themes of the story, they ultimately found strength and voice through adversity. Sarah Ready's mastery of her craft shines through this unique plot, making it a truly unforgettable experience and an absolute must-read and listen to. James Fouhey and Rachel F. Hirsh narration in the audiobook is artfully crafted to make it an engaging, captivating, and enthralling experience. This will stay with you long after the last page is read or the last word is heard.
Thank you NetGalley and W. W. Crown for allowing me to experience this heartwarming novel. I highly recommend this book/audiobook to everyone who enjoys a compelling story and unique narration.

Sarah Ready how dare you crush my entire soul like that. I was not prepared for the emotional damage this one would put me through in the slightest.
Ok, I’ve been a Ready fan since the beginning. She never fails to bring the lovable characters, tension, and emotional battles to the table. The Space Between offers such a complex deep dive into love, heartbreak, loss, and being present in life. The dimensions of what love means went so much farther than I could’ve imagined. I really believed the heartbreak would end and yet it just kept going!
The characters here all have such personality. I honestly think that each person has their moments of mistakes and disappointment yet we end in reception for every single one. How is that possible? I’m not sure but it worked beautifully. I can’t even go as deep as I want to in discussing because I don’t want to spoil anything, but trust me when I say you need to pick this one up. If you think you’re a Sarah Ready fan, this one will blow your mind.
Really excited about this book. It was an Absolutely phenomenal read. High will recommend to others to pick up as soon as it is released.
They've known one thing from their fateful first meeting in Central Park: they're meant to be. For Andrea and Jace, one of life's few certainties is that they will be together forever. Andrea Leighton-Hughes, an astonishingly affluent Upper East Sider who has been a chess piece in her family's games since she was born, understands what it's like to hide behind a mask. Her world revolves around deception, manipulation, and notoriety. Jace is the first and only person to see her true self. Jace Morgan has seen the worst of humanity, and he hasn't always kept his nose clean. Jace, a musical genius from the Bronx, and his brothers will go to any length to reach the top of the music charts. Andrea is the only person who has ever encouraged him to play from the heart. Nobody understands their bond. Nobody understands their passion. Life sets out to prove Jace and Andrea incorrect as they battle to stay together and prove that love overcomes all barriers. What happens when two individuals swear to be together forever, but life separates them?
An emotional-rollercoaster-rides love story that feels like it was written in a song. If you want to feel music and feel the stort behind lyrics, this book would be the one for you. I absolutely love how wonderful the storyline goes. It isn't perfect, there's lots of struggles and lies and misunderstanding, but everything comes to a better future. The pain, the love, the angst, the troubles, everything was raw and painful. But it made the story more poetic, realistic even. It made me believe in a phrase 'everything happens for a reason'. Despite the tension and pain, I'm glad Sarah gave a realistic happy ending because it would be too painful for me to not get one.
