sarah ready has skyrocketed to my list of top favorite authors and this release has shown that she has incredible range. this book is an insane ride full of twists and turns. it's about a deep soulmate level of love and about the timing in life and the twists and turns that can happen. jace and andrea's story is a beautiful and intense one that will stick with me for a long time. the side characters, especially reid was a huge surprise because of how much I loved him. I'd definitely check the trigger warnings before starting this because it is definitely a ride. for any angst lover, this is the book for you. it's very frustrating and painful at points but it wraps up into a beautiful ending.

Thank you to NetGalley, W.W. Crown publishing (IBPA), and author Sarah Ready for advanced copies.

"The Space Between" exemplifies Sarah Ready's remarkable versatility in crafting stories that linger in the minds and hearts of her readers. While "French Holiday" brought its charm and feel-good aura, "The Space Between" delves into a tapestry of missed opportunities, second chances, and pages that gently mend and reshape a reader's emotions.

Andi and Jace's journey began as teenagers in love. Jace and his brothers had a rare chance to make their dreams come true and Andi decided to stay by their side. As life unfolded, they encountered unexpected turns which led them to separate paths. However, the passage of years didn't change their shared heartbeat, though fate intervened again. They reconnected, only to part once more due to Andi's promise to someone. Time continued its march, offering yet another shot at love. Could this finally be their forever and always?

Meeting Jace, Andi, and Reid within these pages was an utter delight. Having experienced the e-copy and the audiobook, narrated brilliantly by James Fouhey and Rachel F. Hirsch, enhanced the experience. Their measured, soothing voices breathed life into Andi and Jace, guiding them toward their heartwarming happily ever after.

The plotline of "The Space Between" is one I anticipate will stay etched in my memory. It strikes a balance between uniqueness and heartfelt realism. What's intriguing is how my feelings shifted as I progressed through the story—initially drawn to Jace and distant from Reid, only to make an about-face during the second part. This narrative evolution left me empathizing deeply with Reid. While I appreciated the main characters' ending, there was a part of me that secretly wished it had been Reid, simply because he, too, was wonderfully imperfect.

Within its pages, this book encapsulates missed and reclaimed chances, forgiveness, and a hope-laden outlook on the future. It serves as a reminder to live fully, to embrace love, and to fan the flames of one's passions. It mirrors life's essence: a journey rich with "Uh ohs" rather than "What ifs?"

Sarah Ready deftly conveys her message through an emotionally charged story, woven around remarkable characters. Tears flowed freely during certain chapters, and as you delve into this book, you'll likely recognize the moments that evoked this response. However, these poignant moments only contribute to the reasons readers will hold "The Space Between" dear.

With this being my second encounter with Sarah Ready's work, I am convinced it won't be my last. I wholeheartedly recommend "The Space Between" to those seeking an emotionally resonant literary experience.

What. A. Book. I love Sarah Ready but still, I was not expecting such an EPIC love story. Urgh, I just couldn’t get enough it - one of those books you’re stuck reading into the middle of the night because it is just so gripping.

It’s a beautiful vast love story with so much to it. It had kind of Gossip Girl vibes at the start, with the central New York setting and the private school vibes - wealthy girl meets a poor boy from the Bronx. Their love at first sight moment in Central Park is breathtaking and their romance when they go on the road is just so heartwarming and wholesome.

Then, THEN, there’s one of the most dramatic wtaf moments I’ve read in ages and I had to put the book down to take a breath. *Trying reeeeaaally hard not to spoil* The misunderstanding, miscommunication and deceit involved become deliciously and painfully dramatic. The story becomes totally heartbreaking.

Then, THEN, there is more pain when Reid comes back along - I actually ended up so moved by his storyline and relationships.

Honestly couldn’t recommend this more. And my god, can Sarah Ready do epilogues - 10/10, the gift that keeps on giving.

SO MANY good things:

- second chance romance
- first love
- opposites attract - rich/poor backgrounds
- epic love story spanning over 15 years
- found family
- major drama - miscommunication/misunderstanding
- life affirming
- band on tour

This had so many things I hate and yet I enjoyed every minute of it.
This was a wild soap opera of a ride.
I started off cringing over the insta love but they were teens and teens are dumb so I let that slide. I really really enjoyed the practicality of her dad pointing out that if she left she wouldn't have health insurance and what if she got sick. If there was ever a reason that would give you pause, that's one.
Up until the end of the first part it was very real and grounded, no melodrama.
But then once things started happening everything did. Between the attempted rape, the car crash, the cheating misunderstanding, there was so much. Then we jump to part two and so much more. This is what I mean by wild. Sarah Ready honestly has a gift because I should have hated all that and instead loved it.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc.

I am in awe and quite unconvinced that I have only read one plot. In general, it felt like a long time passed to cover the plot and that there were mini-stories along it but it was unexpectedly easy to follow. I read this while listening to the audiobook as well, and the words are just beautiful - fully immersing me in the story.

True enough — there were an awful LOT of emotions unpacked from start to end of this love story! I fell in love along with the young Jace and Andi, then felt betrayed when their first crisis happened and despondent when it was not resolved right away. There was hopelessness but there has also been recovery.

Just when it gets better with the character development of Reid (I have to mention him 🥹), another hurdle drops! I fell for this new version of Reid. It was not desperate. It felt too selfless.

I thought that was it. Then another revelation unfolds about the death of Jace’s parents. I DID NOT EXPECT MY HEARTSTRINGS TO BE PLAYED AT LIKE THIS!!! I’m both mind-blown and heartbroken!!!

The whole plot seemingly presented the different kinds and levels of love. Ultimately, it made me think that perhaps, we live and love in the best and earnest way we know how, then hope that the Universe returns the same intensity.

I loved this read!

Sarah Ready is a genius; i’ve never read a book in which the MCs fall in love, are driven away from each other, love others and end up still being in love so many years later.

I loved loved it!! If i had more time i would’ve 100% read it in one sitting.

Here are some of my favourite quotes from “the space between”;

“She never cared what i looked like, she was too busy looking at my heart to bother with my appearance”

“They say love fades. It doesn’t. Pain does. But love doesn’t”

“The breeze carries her laugh to me and it sounds like the notes of a song, crescendoing up a harmonious scale and then down.”

Thank you Net Galley for my advanced copy of “the space between”. All opinions are my own🥰

If you’re not adept at reading through tears, you'll need to hone that skill before diving into this one. Imagine the ruinous heartbreak of a Nicholas Sparks novel but with a happily ever after. There's no question that this story is deeply emotional and profoundly beautiful, and I wish it were possible to read it for the first time all over again.

“You’ve had my always since the day we met.”

Andrea Leighton-Hughes and Jace Morgan are opposites in every way. She comes from affluence and excess, and he shares a bedroom with his two brothers in a Brooklyn walk-up. She attends galas and charity functions, and he busks for spare change in Central Park with his guitar and his musical brothers. But when they meet none of that matters. They see their future in each other's eyes despite their class and upbringing differences. They're absolutely perfect together, until fate deals them a rending blow.

AndI comes to realize that there are many kinds of love, including a bittersweet love that lasts for a short season but is held close in the heart and cherished for a lifetime. Jace learns that family may be messy and imperfect, and not always make the best choices, but blood and bonds run deep and always have your back.

“If we don’t fall, if we aren’t human, then there’s no need for grace.”

I’ve read a few other romances recently where the two main characters spend a good deal of the story apart, but none come close to holding a candle to Jace and Andi's story. It's the perfect balance of unlimited possibilities, devastating heartbreak, and an always destiny. Ready takes no prisoners of the heart in the wreckage of Jace and Andi, but she gently mends us back together by allowing us time with the reunited couple as they settle in to their forever.

My words won’t begin to do this one justice. It's a story of sweet, innocent, young love, and then one of heartbreak and betrayal. It's learning to live without the other half of your soul, only to finally, at long last, find your way back to the one who holds your heart. It's understanding that those who have passed are never really gone, and that we are often right where we’re supposed to be without even realizing it.

“No matter how long the road to get here, no matter the twists and turns, I’m yours.”

Ready has outdone herself, and 99.9% of contemporary romance, and I would give this story a million stars, if possible. It's on my list of top five reads of all time, and I’ll return to it again, knowing new insights and sagacity await me. If you read only one book this year, make it this one. These characters will live in your soul long after the last page, and your heart will never be the same.

The Space Between by Sarah Ready is a very emotional second chance romance between Andrea "Andi" Leighton-Hughes and Jace Morgan.

Andrea Leighton-Hughes, a wealthy Upper East Sider, befriends Jace Morgan, who is a musical prodigy from the Bronx. They come from two different worlds and are dealing with their own demons as they go through their teenage years. Andi struggles with the high pressure and expectations of her world and finds that she can only be her true self around Jace. Their friendship blossoms into love.

As Jace and Andrea struggle to stay together and prove that love defeats all obstacles, life sets out to prove them wrong. What happens when two people promise forever, but life tears them apart? What happens in the time they aren’t together—in the space between?

Firstly, thank you so much to the author, Sarah Ready, Netgalley, and the publishers for giving me a copy of the audiobook, and the book, in exchange for an honest review.

This book was such a roller coaster ride!!! Lucky for the author, I LOVE roller coasters!

This book follows the story of Jace and Andi from when they first met in high school through their adulthood. The story focuses on how despite years in between and against all odds, people who are meant for each other will overcome all obstacles that prevents them from being together. The characters are very well developed and the plot is not at all predictable. Their experiences in life are very relatable and realistic.

I highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy Jill Santopolo, Rebecca Serle, and Josie Silver.

The description of The Space Between didn’t give much away but it took a completely different direction than I anticipated.

The Space Between tells the love story of Andi and Jace from teenagers to adulthood. It begins when the two first meet in NYC living two completely different lives.

While I enjoy the idea of the book and the characters back story, I thought there was too many different elements of the story such as cancer, marriage of convenience, celebrity, abusive relationships, death of a loved. It was just all too much for me and felt unrealistic.

I also didn’t like the timeline. It was too long and too strung out. I felt like the two of them could have ended up together multiple times. We also didn’t hear much about Jace after his teenage years. We get a couple page recap of the years apart and that’s it.

While there was negatives I truly believed the two belonged together and that was shown throughout the writing. The characters were right for eachother which was evident from the start. I thought the author did a great job with imagery and the portrayal of the characters. I think they have a real potential for future books if they can get a sold plot together.

Overall it was decent just wasn’t for me.
3 stars.

I love Sarah Ready’s books and this is another outstanding one. The love story between Andi and Jace is wonderful. All the characters are well written and have great development. There is a massive curve in the story that I didn’t see coming and it definitely propels the story in a new direction. The redemption of one of the characters is emotional and heartbreaking. I really don’t want to say much about the plot and give anything away but it is full of depth. Another wonderful book by this author.

*Spoilers alert* When I requested this audiobook as an ARC, I did not expect that half of it would be your typical YA and the other half involves a love triangle. There is no indication in the blurb apart from hinting that the couple would encounter many obstacles in their path to true love. Thing is, I really am too old for YA and love triangles are really not my thing. The first half was excruciatingly drawn out and the second half devoted too much time on this secondary romance that I really did not need. Remember Jace? The love of your love whom you met again after painful years of estrangement in a dream reunion only to give him nary a thought for the next six years.

Absolutely devoured this book! Highly recommend. Once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down! I’ve always loved reading her books and this one, like the others, did not disappoint.

Once I picked up The Space Between, I couldn’t put it down. I didn’t expect to be crying in the middle of the night over two young people falling in love and that their love for each other never stopped, even though they couldn’t be together, because life pushed them apart over and over again.

The Space Between is told in three parts, using alternating perspectives, and is simply one of those beautiful love stories you won’t easily forget. I really liked it!

Andrea (Andi) and Jace meet by chance, fell in love rather instantly - but I thought it made sense as they were each other’s first loves. They were swept away and loved the way you love when your heart has never been broken. Andi leaves everything behind to follow Jace on his pursuit of a musical career. Unfortunately, they didn’t last. And it was devastating.

Them loving each other so fiercely made their fall out rather cruel and it kind of raised the bar for me. If the fall out is that brutal, the moment these characters rekindle should make up for the hurt and extra - I mean, there’s no need to go there otherwise.

What I didn’t expect was to get a so much better story from there. So. Much. Better. The first part was already great, really, but it picked up and became even more remarkable. I was blown away by the beauty of it and couldn’t stop crying.

I really liked how life brought Andi and Jace together, seperated them, but also led them to where they belonged. And what I loved most was how The Space Between showed us love in more than one way.

A beautiful and moving love story I highly recommend if you like to feel all the feels while reading. Keep some tissues at hand for this emotional rollercoaster!

4.5 stars!

“I never got over it. You don’t get over that kind of love. You keep living. You keep going. But you don’t get over it.”

A bingeable book that I enjoyed! My only complaint is it’s a tad on the long side. My first book by this author and I can’t wait to read more!

I had no idea what to expect from this book, but I’m so glad I read it! This was a much heavier story than I anticipated, and boy did it take the reader on a journey! This story begins when the characters are teenagers and with the help of time jumps it spans 15 years. I think I’d call it a coming of age romance. I was completely immersed in this story, and I even woke up eager to read again. This would have been a five star read for me, but the angst felt slightly too much at times. Like, at about 80% I kinda felt like I had angst whiplash. Because of that I’m landing at 4.5 ⭐️

A beautiful love story. It mainly focuses on what happens when two soulmates are separated by heartbreaking circumstances. How do they cope? Each in very different ways. And most importantly... will they ever get their happy ending? Andrea and Jace complement each other perfectly and bring out the best in each other. The more devasting it is when lose each other due to misunderstandings and betrayal from people close to them. I must admit, I wouldn't be as forgiving. A must-read for all the romantics out there.

I got this arc in exchange for an honest review.

@sarahreadyauthor has quickly become a must-read author for me and I was excited when #netgalley offered The Space Between not only as a Read Now but also Listen Now option.

This was a great example of a book that hooked me with the first line.

“I fly across the grass, sprinting through Central Park, desperate to stop the only woman I’ll ever love from marrying another man.”

Maybe it’s just me, but that sentence actually gave me an adrenaline rush. Does he make it in time? Does she love him too? What’s their story? Those were all questions I asked myself in that moment.

What I discovered was a story about two teens falling in love. The things that tear them apart and what happened in the space between. Following Andi and Jace for more than a decade, their story is told in dual POV which I loved. I did wish for more of Jace at certain times.

There is love and loss. Grief and sorrow. Family love and family deception. I smiled, I was angry, and I also had tears. This was an emotional read, and I loved every minute of it!

TW: There are several! Please DM me if you have any questions.

I tandem read the e-book while listening to the audiobook. The narrators did a great job of bringing the characters to life.
