Always a pleasure reading the series, the adventure of three squirrels siblings is always fun. This time they are in summer time, with the sun and of course some rains. And this time they made new friends. A simple story, warmly narrated, and beautifully illustrated, one of my favorite series.

Hooray for Summer is one in the series of season books written by Kazuo Iwamura. This book had a fresh look since its original publication in 2010 and republished this year. Squirrel siblings, Mick, Mack, and Molly are enjoying a summer day with new and old friends. Suddenly everything goes quiet, until the sky opens up and rain pours down. With lightening and thunder, all the animals run for shelter. Mick, Mack, and Molly find a cave to stay in until the storm ends. There are two other animals in the same cave, and more come hide out as well. Soon they are all huddled up together to wait out the storm.

With so many storms this summer, my grandchildren have some healthy fear. We have lost power, had trees come down, flooding and strong winds, so they tend to be frightened when a storm comes up. This story was a good one to show that all summer rainstorms are not going to cause damage and it is a good time to huddle up with family and friends and play a game, read a book or even have a little nap. We enjoyed the story and although they were worried that Mick, Mack, and Molly might not make it to shelter in time, they enjoyed this one.

A very cute story. Great length for toddlers and preschoolers. Cute pictures. A delight to add to any collection.

This is such a cute book that we really enjoyed! It's a great book to read for the start of summer. Fun, cute illustrations as well.

A lovely children’s book all around. The illustrations are beautiful and the story is touching. The animals work together through a Summer Storm and their journey of friendship and trust are heartwarming lessons. I’d definitely add this book to my shelf.

Slightly unusually for this lovely series we don't get the full family affair of the three young squirrels and their parents. Instead they're starting these pages alone, having fun in the sun on a see-saw. But things aren't going to be all fine and dandy, for this is summer – and you know what that means – summer storms… It will give the game away to say the ending of this is delightful, charmingly bright and positive, but it has to be said, for that is the sole reason of this series – to have just warm-hearted mini-dramas and cosiness. What isn't cosy here is the way we seem to get a huge vertical panorama at one point, whilst the text seems to think it's landscape. That aside, these are wonderfully-produced short books, and if British I am sure the creator would have been spoken of on these shores in similar breath to Potter and Uttley. A strong four stars once again.

Hooray for Summer by Kazuo Iwamura is such an exquisite children's book I was grabbing my heart. The illustrator Kazuo Iwamura makes moments come alive in such a delightful way our hearts are captured.

Mick, Mack, and Molly the adorable squirrels learn from a summer thunderstorm that supporting each other through fear, uncertainty, and hope for getting out of a scary situation for them is the best way. They set about on their beautiful summer day within the beautiful art of Kazuo which is beyond beautiful and through their adventure come out believing in themselves.

This book is a deeper message than what appears on the surface and for that, I think it is my favorite of his books.
Touching on unpredictable summer weather right now in this climate for children is genius.

What a treasure of a children's book and one I will be giving as gifts.

This short and sweet book would be an excellent addition to a classroom library. Despite the shortness of the story, students can relate to being afraid of a storm and the wind, thunder and lightning that come along with a storm.

The characters bond together against their common enemy, the storm outside their cave. When the storm passes, their bond becomes an easy friendship formed with their now shared history.

This book was so adorable, I loved everything about it, the illustrations were so well done, they suited the book perfectly, the story was amazing as well, even thought is very short I could really connect with the characters and feel theirs struggles.
I’m sure the kids are going to be just as enthralled with this amazing book as I was.
I will definitely recommend!

I love every single book by this author and illustrator. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to read this one. It won’t appear on my NetGalley shelf :(

I just read this to my kids for bed and it was so cute! They were cracking up at all of the different names of the animals.

They also pointed out to me that all of the different animals were staying dry together - I didn’t know if they would point out that fact, but they did.

Adorable pictures too!

This was a cute little story! It would be a great read aloud for summer time for kids! This would also be great for a classroom to read either before summer vacation or you can easily tie it in with some teaching about weather as a fiction text. The illustrations are really detailed and really cute too.

Cute children’s book about how great summer is and how many memories can be made during the summer. But it also has some education on the weather in the summer.

When Mick, Mack and Molly are out playing on a hot summer's day and it starts to storm, they run to find the nearest cave and come across some other furry friends hiding from the storm as well. When the rain stops and they can all go back outside the cave, the new friends spend the rest of the day playing together. Loved the pictures and it was a cute little story

An absolutely adorable book about three squirell siblings who are out playing during the summer and get caught in a storm. When they find a place to hide they also make some friends.

The artwork is beautiful and the story gives children thr chance to see that making friends is easy as long as you're kind.

It was cute. But fell a little flat for me. I’m not a fan of the illustrations. I did like the way they met knew friends and im sure that would have a positive impact on kids.

So I read this to my 18 month old niece and she loved looking at the pictures and “reading” the story with me! She especially loved the little squirrels because I have a rescue squirrel and she thinks Daisy is the funniest thing. She showed that she felt empathy for the little girl mouse when she cried out for her mommy and was happy for all of the new friends when the rain finally ended. We really enjoyed reading this one together.

A cute book about three bunnies who need to find a place to hide during a big rainstorm. In finding shelter, they also find friends in unpredictable animals. The only downside is the white stripes that signify rain behind the black lettering. It makes it difficult to read the words. Otherwise, I liked the story and the adorable illustrations immenesly.

Mick, Mack, and Molly find themselves in a scary situation. Mick didn’t allow his siblings to panic, he remembered the story his grandfather had just told them and realized they were in an identical position, so he did what his grandfather had done. It was a memorable summer for the kids. They had a new adventure and made new friends. An exciting and fun-filled adventurous story that teaches and entertains.

When squirrel siblings Mick, Mack, and Molly are caught playing as a summer storm approaches, they run to a nearby cave in search of shelter. Already hiding from the elements are two mice and the group is finalized when a frightened rabbit burrows alongside them. As the weather worsens, the illustrations depict the animals banding together despite their fears.

Having experienced multiple summer storms earlier in the week, the characters’ emotional journey was all too relatable for my youngest reader. Much like our personal experience, once the foul weather passed and the sun returned, all memories of fear were forgotten in lieu of sunshine and play.

Sure to delight a young audience, Hooray for Summer is a soft and beautifully illustrated picture book by Kazuo Iwamura.
