This was an anxiety inducing roller coaster that I read faster than I thought was possible.

A teenage girl is found on the side of the road badly injured, with a concussion, and memory loss. She refuses to go to the hospital and while she’s in the police station trying to figure out who she is, in walks a man claiming to be her father showing paperwork to prove who she is.

A few hours away in another town Drew is mourning the disappearance of his girlfriend Lola, and not only is he devastated - but he’s also the only suspect as he was the last one to see her. Drew is desperate to find Lola and prove his innocence.

This was SO GOOD. My heart was pounding for so much of this book and it was genuinely scary to me. This is told in two POVs, the teenage girl and Drew. For a YA thriller this knocked it out of the park. I did not see the ending coming and I actually gasped.

If you want a fast paced + creepy thriller that’ll give you similar vibes to A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder and will give you actual chills, read this one!

Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks fire for this ARC. This comes out on January 2, 2024 (or December 26, 2023? Goodreads says something different lol)

This is hands down probably the best YA Thriller I have read!

This book grips you from the very first page, where we meet a teenager who is found on the side of the road and has no idea who she is or how she gets there, the police find her and then someone comes to the police station and claims to be her father proving so. But in a town not too far away we also meet Drew, the boyfriend of Lola, who has been missing and Drew is the prime suspect... because it's always the boyfriend right?

We get POV's from both the injured teenager and Drew . The injured teenager is trying to figure out who she is & Drew is trying to prove he's innocent.

This is a jam packed thriller that makes you not want to stop reading, I read this in 2 sittings, but definitely could have read it in one go... it's that good!

There's lots of questionable things that go on, and a lot of trying to figure out what is really going on which makes this a great thriller, and probably one of my new favorites!

I highly recommend this one if you are looking for a binge read & something you can dive into very quickly!

This was another great YA book I recently read! I read this book in one sitting, it was a captivating and sad story but I just could not stop reading it. I found myself rooting for the characters at the same time I wanted to yell at them for being dumb teenagers haha. I did cry at one point (when you get there you will know) and I think this book was really well done. You can find this one on December 26,2023! I would recommend it but just know it is not happy and uplifting! Overall I give it 4/5 stars!

Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for a copy of this work in exchange for my honest review!

When a girl wakes up in a ditch she cannot remember who she is she is found by one of the nicest policeman who takes her to the station after she refuses medical treatment does his best to find out if she’s a missing person in the county. Soon after a man shows up claiming he is looking for his daughter Mary Boone they were on their way to their fishing cabin and she was supposed to meet him there in her vehicle and she never showed up and he goes on to describe the anonymous teen to a T when he sees her he says yes that is definitely her but the police does his due diligence and follows them back to the cabin looks like the pictures he has and her birth certificate and Social Security card to the nice officer and the teen it seems the case is solved she thinks she is Mary and that this is her father in the second POV we meet drew a senior at the local high school in Washington county Washington and the prime suspect of his missing girlfriends demise. He has been dating Lily Elizabeth Scott for over two years and desperately wants her back he spends all his free time putting up missing posters and the local sheriff spends all his time bringing Drew in for questioning without an adult. Soon “merry“ starts remembering things that don’t jive with what the nice man claiming to be her dad says but it will be a chance siding that brings these two POV‘s together this is a YA thriller but I want to say this book reads like an adult thriller with twist turns and surprises. I love Megan Lally‘s books and I feel with this one she really is showing why so many people love her books even though you know there’s going to be a surprise Megan always makes you do a double take and that is why I am absolutely gaga over her books. I always think the last one I’ve read is my favorite but this one is actually really really awesome and I loved it and definitely recommend it! I want to thank SourceOfBooksFire and net galley for my free art copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

An exciting thriller that gripped me from the first page! I couldn't guess where it was going and I enjoyed the ride!

This was a debut suspense thriller set in the PNW (!) and alternating between two POVs: a girl with amnesia and a boy called Drew. It was incredibly propulsive and engrossing. The structure really worked for me, and the misdirect/twist was a total surprise. The ending made me cry, which is not a thing I can say about this genre often. The pace and plotting were strong, and I'm excited to see what we get in the future from Megan Lally.

This book had me on the edge of my seat from the first page to the very last! Megan has written a gripping, gut-wrenching debut that you won’t be able to put down!

Thank you to NetGalley, Sourcebooks Fire, and Megan Lally for an ARC of this book.

I enjoyed That’s Not My Name. The beginning did a great job of laying the groundwork for the whole story. Overall, the story was filled with many twists, and the dual point of view gave the reader a full circle view of everything.

This book was a gripping read from the first page, with plenty of tense moments and a plot that has the reader second-guessing everything they are being told.

The book utilise dual narrators, following amnesiac Mary who feels unsure about the father she has been reunited with and prime-murder-suspect Drew who is seeking answers to clear his name in the disappearance of his girlfriend Lola.
This narrative drives the plot and introduces the reader to various clues to piece together the full picture and a couple of red-herrings along the way - all of which leading to the satisfying twist ending (and even if you are like me and guess the twist early on, reading to the conclusion is still an enjoyable experience as you will quickly get invested within the story and grow attached to the characters).

If I'm being really picky certain references, such as an early mention of Lizzo being good music taste, will likely date the book in the future (I'm thinking of the current controversy and how this might impact perceptions) however popular culture references can really help solidify some realism.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story and it's a really strong debut for Megan Lally, I look forward to seeing what she writes next!

It's been a long time since I read a book in a single day because I couldn't put it down. That's Not My Name was quick, fast-paced, and engrossing, and I couldn't put my Kindle down long enough to take a break from reading it. I don't know what it is about YA thrillers that pull me in like that, and this one was no different. It was short enough that the pacing wasn't all over the place, but long enough that it felt like the story wrapped up.

That's Not My Name tells the story of a girl who wakes up in a ditch one day with no memory of who she is. A man claiming to be her father picks her up from the police station and she goes back to her life with him, except not everything is adding up. At the same time, Drew is a high school boy whose girlfriend has gone missing, and he's determined to find her.

The girl in the ditch is told her name is Mary, and I definitely liked Mary's story a lot better than Drew's. I found that Drew and his friend Autumn, the sheriff's daughter, sometimes took things too far, and I was getting whiplash about whether or not they liked each other. Autumn went from writing "Murderer" on Drew's locker to trusting him entirely in one single conversation, and that felt very rushed to me. I also didn't love the storyline of the teenagers investigating, because it felt really unrealistic. Max was such an extraneous character, and it seems like his only purpose was to have a car to transport the rest of them around.

The twist was a bit predictable, but I'm glad it went down that route instead of a different one, I think any other ending would have been even more unbelievable. The writing was easy to follow, although a bit simplistic at points, and like I mentioned, I couldn't put this one down. This was truly a spectacular debut, and I'll definitely be picking up more by this author.

Exceptionally well-paced debut thriller. It's described as YA, and the main characters are teens, but it's not written in that overly simplistic way that some YA novels can have. The plot moves along well, the characters are great, the twist is fantastic, if a bit heartbreaking.

"She thought she had her life back. She was wrong. It was a mistake to trust him.

Shivering and bruised, a teen wakes up on the side of a dirt road with no memory of how she got there―or who she is. A passing officer takes her to the police station, and not long after, a frantic man arrives. He's been searching for her for hours. He has her school ID, her birth certificate, and even family photos. He is her father. Her name is Mary. Or so he says.

When Lola slammed the car door and stormed off into the night, Drew thought they just needed some time to cool off. Except Lola disappeared, and the sheriff, his friends, and the whole town are convinced Drew murdered his girlfriend. Forget proving his innocence, he needs to find her before it's too late. The longer Lola is missing, the fewer leads there are to follow…and the more danger they both are in."

I did not realize that this book was young adult when I requested it and I don’t generally read from that genre but this book was very good. It kept me engaged throughout. It was well written and full of twists. A little unrealistic in parts but all in all a good time!

A young adult thriller, alternating between the POVs of Mary and Drew. Mary woke up on the side of the road one day with no recollection of who she was. She goes home with her father from the police station, but things aren’t quite as they seem. Drew is the number one suspect in the missing person case of his girlfriend Lola. He’s public enemy #1 in his small town and he’s dealing with this along with immense grief as he desperately tries to find her.

This was a great debut novel! Kept me engaged the entire way and I didn’t see the twist at the end coming. Well done!

That's Not My Name follows a teenager who wakes up on the side of a dirt road with no memory of how she got there or who she is. A passing police officer finds her and takes her to the police station. A man arrives claiming that she is his daughter and he has been searching for her for hours. At first, the police officer is skeptical. But the man has her school ID, birth certificate, and pictures of her. Soon the officer is convinced. Lola and her boyfriend Drew got into a fight and she storms off and goes missing. Everyone thinks that Drew killed Lola and he is determined to prove that he is innocent. Is the missing girl Lola? Will Drew be able to prove that he is innocent?

WOW just wow!! This book was incredible. I thought I had this book figured out pretty early on. But then the plot twist happened and I was left shocked. This is wild to me that this is a debut book. This book was written by someone who has been writing books for a long time. I can not wait to read more books by this author. This book had me hooked from the very first page. This is how you write a thriller. I am going to be thinking about this one for a while. I highly suggest this one.

Thank you so much Sourcebooks Fire, Megan Lally, and Netgalley for the ARC of this one.

This. Was. Fantastic. Like, I usually read pretty quickly but I went through this book so fast. It was gripping right from the start and has suspense all throughout that keeps you guessing. I am surprised that this was a debut author, and I can’t wait to see what else she writes next. Although a lot The of the plot is day to day events, the characters are well-developed and you really get to see their inner workings and turmoil. I was apprehensive about how this one would end and felt that could make or break the whole story, but I was very content with how everything came together. I don’t want to say much more to spoil anything, but really, you need to read this one!

Holy crap! This book has left me utterly speechless. The last thing I expected was to end this a weeping mess after such a thrilling rollercoaster of a read. It feels as if my guts and heart are being shredded to pieces. I was continually taken by surprise and on the edge of every wild turn this book took. Heck the blurb alone had me requesting this ARC in the first place and I couldn’t be happier with that decision than I am now. A wonderful YA thriller that has the teens doing all the dirty work to find their missing friend. Personally I went in without any assumptions or guesses as to what was going on and that only made each nugget of information coalesce into some wild and brain exploding mess by the very end. With a slow build in intensity this book completely took over my life and I could not stop until I was done. It’s hard to delve into details without giving anything away as this is certainly a read you will appreciate a million times more without spoilers. But do note it touches on some heavier subjects so be forewarned…… Highly highly recommend!

That’s Not My Name started out extremely confusing but in the best possible way. From the very first chapter, you have no idea who to trust, who is telling the truth, and frankly, who is who. This was my favorite aspect to the book. I enjoyed having to stay on my toes but I also never felt overwhelmed with people or information. The author paced the beginning perfectly! I also really liked the dual POV’s. This allowed me to see all the different sides to the investigation and story overall. And that plot twist? I did not see that coming! And it happened at the best time to produce a huge emotional impact. Although a few things were slightly predictable, I wasn’t annoyed by it at all. This was easily one of my favorite mystery/thriller reads this year!

I loved this book in so many ways. After reading a lot of 600+ page books in a row I absolutely loved the fast paced story told in this book in half as many pages. I thought I knew what was happening and was pleasantly surprised to find myself with my jaw on the floor at one point. An absolutely brilliant thriller that you won’t be able to put down!

A pretty great thriller with lots of suspense and unease from the very start - eminently devourable and hard to put down!

It has been awhile since a book kept me so engaged that I lose track of time while on break or lunch at work. But this one managed that feat multiple times. As the two narratives overlap and start to merge, readers will want to push through and find answers or confirm theories. Who is the girl with no memory?

This is a well written story that tackles complicated subjects reasonably well. It deals with issues of false accusations, small town mob mentality, and controlling families, as well as guilt and how loss can impact a community or family. While like most teen books it does push the boundaries of belief with what the teens are able to get away with and accomplish, because of the small town nature of the story it feels more plausible than normal.

Clues to the final twist start almost immediately, but they are subtle and done well. Even if you start to guess where the narrative is heading, there is enough ambiguity to leave you unsure. Unlike with other teen thriller's this story wraps up completely, leaving no real questions or ambiguities at the end.

When providing this title as part of a Reader's Advisory interaction it might be important to note the elements of religious trauma and purity culture that are less apparent in the description. They come up slowly through the story and play a significant role in the ending.
