The Summer Girl, by Jenny Blackhurst, will have you wanting more as you navigate the twists and turns of this fast-paced thriller. Claire's younger sister, Holly, makes the decision to leave her home in the UK and live abroad in Martha's Vineyard for the summer. Holly takes a job at the local marina and is having a blast meeting new friends and even some potential love interests. Things take a turn when Claire, Holly's older sister, hasn't heard from Holly and begins to worry. Claire decides to make the trip to Massachusetts to ensure her sister is okay, but quickly discovers that her little sister has disappeared without a trace. Told from both of the girl's perspectives, this book was the perfect summer read. I highly recommend you pick this thriller up if you want a great book to add to your summer vacation.

Thank you to Canelo, Jenny Blackhurst and #NetGalley for the ARC and opportunity to read and review this book!

for me it was a mindfck and a really good one at that. i wont say that the plot wasn't unpredictable but i at the same time i dont have anything bad to say about this one. it was more about how you feel as a reader after reading this than the storyline actually making you feel things. i don't think the previous line makes any sense but iykyk. after i finished all i could think about was how money and power without the sense of responsibility and common sensibility can change your mind into a dark and evil place. this book was real. too real imo. it is true that people do not speak up even for themselves let alone be someone else if its mean they'll going up against someone in power which ends up hurting and sabotaging too many lives that could've been so easily avoided had the people grown a tad bit of backbone.

No one cares about the girl who is gone missing because she was just a summer girl. But her sister knows something is very wrong and as she digs into things, it emerges her sister is not the first to go missing. a good and gripping read

This book is the perfect end to the summer season!

The mysterious disappearance of a girl, the search for truth, death, suspicion - all this against the backdrop of a beautiful resort island.
The story has a dual timeline - one sister tells us about the days leading up to her disappearance and another one tells us about her search for her sister.

I really liked it!

I would like to thank #NetGalley #Canelo and the author #JennyBlackhurst for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was incredible!! I actually wanted to skip to the end not because it was a bad book but because I really wanted to know what happened to Holly and why! I found the mix between Claire telling the present story and Holly telling the story to the lead up of her disappearance to be very engaging and kept me reading to find out what exactly happened. I had so many theories of where the story would go but never would I have imagined the ending to be what it was.

An incredible read!

Thanks to Netgalley and Canelo for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Claire's sister Holly took off from the UK to spend the summer in Martha's Vineyard after their mother's died of cancer. Now Claire can't reach Holly and hasn't heard from her in days, so she flies to Martha's Vineyard to make sure Holly is ok. Once there, she learns that Holly hasn't been seen in days, the police aren't taking it seriously as a disappearance and Holly had been hanging around a couple of brothers from a rich family that have a bad reputation.

This was an enjoyable read from Jenny Blackhurst, as all of her books tend to be. There were a number of characters that could have been guilty and there was a twist near the end that was unexpected. A good read that I never got bored with. Looking forward to her next offering.

I have read previous books by this author and have thoroughly enjoyed them and this was another winner for me.I like this author’s style….. easy to read and to follow with no over fussy descriptions and I found I was racing through it. The story is told from the point of view of both sisters, Holly and Claire, the former being the younger sister who heads off to Martha’s Vineyard for the summer and who then disappears and Claire who goes searching for her. It is a very relatable story with quite a few red herrings. I did get a bit confused near the end as to what was actually happening but it certainly was not the ending I expected!

This is the latest psychological thriller by Jenny Blackhurst and it did not disappoint. Told from both Claire and Holly's perspective I found this book gripping and thrilling. This was an easy read and kept me thinking the whole time, so many twists and turns throughout. This book is full of sorrow, taking you through each stage of loss and grief. A brilliant read!

This was a quick, easy read. It’s definitely a good one to read if you’ve been in a reading slump. It was a bit predictable, and I probably would t re-read, but overall I liked it.

I was gifted this advance copy in exchange for my honest review from NetGalley.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I will be reading more! I was hooked and had to know more! I honestly probably would have read this alot faster if I wasn't working so much. This would be a book I could read in one setting if I was given the time to do so. Every chapter left you wanting to know more, try to piece the puzzle together. I really enjoyed this book and will now be reading more by this author. 😀

I didn't love this one. I felt myself walking away feeling unsatisfied. I felt like a lot of information was repetitive overkill. Also, I know the narrator is from the UK but there was so much in the dialogue that didn't fit and it bothered me.

Claire's little sister, Holly, has decided to head to Martha's Vineyard to work for the summer, needing a change of scenery after their mother's death. But then no one seems to have heard from Holly for a while. Claire decides to head to Martha's Vineyard to find her sister when none of the locals seem to want to help. When Claire arrives on the Vineyard she learns of another girl that went missing one summer five years ago. And she soon learns that digging too much might be hazardous to her health. But who are the locals protecting or scared of?

4 stars!

This was a quick moving, thriller, perfect for a summer read, great for a quick weekend beach read. It was a short book, some readers could probably read in one day!

Thank you to NetGalley and Canelo suspense for a digital ARC!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for letting me read the ARC The Summer Girl.

A fast paced thriller that I couldn't put down. A mysterious, tense, emotional and plot driven story that I really enjoyed cause it didn't slow down.

A book I can recommend.

We are following Claire after she's got a strange text from her Younger sister which she knows isn't from Holly .
we follow Claire to the Island where Holly went.We are following a dual timeline between Claire and Holly. We are seeing what happened up until the days of Holly's disappearance. Whereas Claire is trying to follow the steps in the future of what Holly has been through up until her disapprance. I found that this pacing a little bit slow and it took me until about 50% of the way through the book to get a clear understanding of the story, it felt more like a who did it than thriller for me until that point.

This would be a fantastic holiday book given the characters' attendance at a party and a beach bonfire on Martha's Vineyard. The mystery definitely keeps you on your toes with a cast of characters that are surrounded by situations that make them naturally suspect. While some are foreseeable, the conclusion was unexpected. And sort of depressing as well. The Summer Girl is a must-read if you enjoy psychological thrillers.

Claire fears something has happened to her sister Holly. Holly is spending the summer an ocean away from home in Martha’s Vineyard when she fails to contact her sister. Holly always replies to texts so Claire immediately is worried. She flies to Martha’s Vineyard to find her sister. While there Claire find some people are helpful and nice and others want her to back off.

This story will capture your attention from the first page. As we get a little further into the book, multiple POV is introduced and we start to get pictures of Holly’s life in Martha’s Vineyard. I’ve read books by this author before and enjoy her way of twisting the story into what you least expect. Besides the beautiful and haunting cover this story will keep you reading late into the night!

This was an easy and engaging read. No surprises. Likeable characters and a plot that flowed. If you enjoy sister stories this book fills the bill as one sister comes to america in search of her missing sibling who’s taken a summer job on Nantucket. The setting rings true and is an appealing place to set a summer beach mystery. Overall, a solid read that will satisfy most mystery readers and which goes down well as part of any summer beach vacation
