This was a fast paced thriller which had me hooked. I really liked the characters Claire and Holly.

Claire and Holly have recently lost their mum they are both handling it differently Holly wants to get away and Claire wants to keep her close. Holly decides to travel to Martha’s Vineyard, she has found a job and somewhere to live what could possibly go wrong in the beautiful part of USA. So when their cousin Jess receives a text message from Holly that she is convinced isn’t off her. At first Claire thinks her sister is fine and is just enjoying herself but Jess books Claire a flight to go over and check on Holly. When she arrives Holly is no where to be found the Claire starts to investigate and learns about the death of a 15 year old girl Natalie 5 years earlier. Claire tries to get to the bottom of her sisters disappearance and make the local police take it seriously. Will Claire find Holly?

Some fantastic twists in the book I never saw coming, with a shocking ending. I really enjoyed this psychological thriller I loved every second of this story. Highly recommend this to everyone.

The young Englishwoman Holly wanted to live her life to the fullest after her mother’s death and decided to live and work on Martha’s Vineyard for the summer. When her Sister Claire learns that Holly went missing, she flies there to figure out what happened/find her.

“The Summer Girl” is just my cup of tea: It buzzes from the first page, the writing is engaging and I really love the great dry (British) humor! The paradise-like setting and the disturbing plot are a great contrast!

The Story is fast-moving, eventful and laced with suspense. The descriptions of Martha’s Vineyard are so vivid, I felt a little bit like I was there. The duel timeline and clever narratives (it is told in alternating viewpoints - Hollys & Claires) are absolutely addictive. But I think that both protagonist are disturblingly naive, which bothered me a litte bit, to be honest.

I was very much immersed in this intriguing, atmospheric tale with many different emotional aspects, and a shocking ending.

“The Summer Girl” is entertaining, utterly gripping and twisty - I devoured it!

However, to me, two questions of detail remain open.

I came across Jenny Blackhurst by mistake and I am so glad I did. I read one of her books and she has been in my favorite authors list sense.

This book is so good and suspenseful. I loved it!
She is a must read without who won’t disappoint.

This was my first book from Jenny Blackhurst, and certainly won't be my last. "Unputdownable" indeed, I read this all in one morning. I loved the characters, the setting, the mystery, the red herrings. So good. I had my guess on it about halfway through, but that didn't make it any less enjoyable. The Summer Girl is an easy read, and a really solid, enjoyable thriller. I absolutely recommend it for a summer/beach read.

Jenny Blackhurst is a great author and this was another thrilling read.

Holly decides to take a summer job in Marthas Vineyard leaving her sister Claire in the UK still touring the loss of their mother.

Holly stops returning phone calls and text messages and eventually all calls go straight through to voicemail. Clair calls the police in Martha's Vineyard to try and get some assistance in tracing her sister but they seem unhelpful. Claire decided she has to visit to try and find her sister.

On arrival Claire finds everyone has something to hide, especially the two rich brothers who Holly was seen with,Ryan and Conner.

As Claire delves into the lives of the people around she finds secrets and deceptions from before.

Excellent read and highly recommended.

I LOVED everything about this book…the setting, the alternating chapters between Holly & Claire, a really good ending. Nice short chapters which I always like…makes it easy to pick up & put down. I finished it in 2 days!

A definite 5 star summer read.

The Summer Girl by Jenny Blackhurst was a good mystery thriller. Claire and Holly are sisters living in the UK. They lost their mom eight months ago. Holly decides to take a summer job in Marthas Vineyard to explore new things. Jess, Claire and Holly's cousin, points out the Holly is not returning phone calls and her phone is going right to voice mail. Jess and Claire become worried about Holly. Claire ends up making the trip to Marthas Vineyard to see where her sister is.

Once there, she is met with resistance from the police. They keep talling Claire this happens all the time and kids will be kids. Basically they are protecting the ultra rich summer people on the island. The book goes on the show Claire investigating everyone she runs into trying to find her sister. It's pointed out many times that the police will not cause any upset to tourism or their mega wealthy guests.

The book is written from various POVs and the chapters are short. It was a very quick read. The ending was quite shocking. All in all it was a well written book and kept me interested. Thank you to Canelo Publishing and Netgaley for the ARC. I highly recommend this book.

I so love these authors books. Once you start you don't want to stop reading so addictive. Claire and her sister Holly are close and with the death of their mother. they now live together but Holly wants to go to America., to work in Marthas Vineyard Holly is loving it. Claire is not coping. her cousin Jess drags her out of a bar and demands to know when she last heard from Holly. And she then Panicks as there a strange text to Jess, so Claire goes to America. How the story unfolds is just so good another fast paced read from this Author so recommend

Wow! Holly has quit answering calls and texts prompting Claire to come and see what is going on. From there you wonder who is telling the truth, who is covering for who and what really happened. Told in pat and present tense you get a feel for both Holly and Claire’s time in Martha’s Vineyard and slowly develop a theory for what happened. But is your theory correct? Read this fast paced, gripping thriller and see for yourself!

Claire's younger sister, Holly, left England to spend the summer working in Martha's Vineyard. Holly's summer is off to a great start, filled with parties, rich boys, and beach days. After Claire and her cousin are unable to get a hold of Holly for some days, they realize she is missing. Claire contacts the police, but they do not seem to care.

Claire decides to make the trek out to Martha's Vineyard to search for her little sister. Claire quickly learns that the people of Martha's Vineyard have something to hide. Especially those rich boys that Holly was seen with before her disappearance. Claire learns that another young woman disappeared five years ago, under similar circumstances. Someone knows what happened to Holly and Claire is determined to figure it out.

This is a quick paced summer read. However, it definitely tackles some tough emotional issues. Nonetheless, it is an easy and fun read with a very interesting ending.

This book was def more American than her previous books. It had an entirely different feel to me than the others. It was still good though! I love books on Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Holly takes a job on the Vineyard for the summer. When she stops responding to texts and calls, her sister goes looking for her. The book seems pretty obvious but in fact, that is not what the ending shows! Good suspense. Good ending!

I loved The Hiking Trip and The Girl Who Left, so I was excited to read this. I ended up enjoying it, but not as much as the previous books. The beginning was a little slow, but I enjoyed the alternating chapters between Holly(leading up to her death) and Claire. There are many twists and turns and I was a bit shocked when the truth about Holly's death was finally revealed. I wasn't expected who ended up being involved. I can't believe what this person did to Claire on the beach. From the start was suspicious of many of the people on the island, especially Carl, Ryan and Bobby. Even Stacy, because she knew what type of man she married but still blamed the women. I kept forgetting that Ryan and Bobby were in their twenties, since they behaved like teenagers. They knew they could get away with anything, since their parents were rich and they were related to the Kennedys. Bobby always reminded me of a Jekyll and Hyde. My favorite characters were Claire and Holly. If it wasn't for Claire, Holly would have never been reported missing. The police made up excuses for Holly being missing and didn't take it seriously.
Martha's Vineyard sounded beautiful and a wonderful place to spend the summer, unless your being murdered and dumped into the ocean.

Definitely recommend the book. It was a good mystery/thriller with many twists and turns and perfect for the summer. Enjoyed the characters, writing style and story. Look forward to reading more books by the author.

I really enjoyed this book. In my opinion it was a little slower towards the beginning, but began to pick up pace at about 50/60%, definitely worth it though! Each time I thought we had an answer, there was an unexpected twist which changed everything. I liked that it was told from the view of both Claire and Holly. This story has such a great ending, and tells the story of how grief can drive one to absolute desperation.

This is easily one of the best books I've read in quite some time. The writing style flows so naturally and the storyline is so engaging and intriguing. Even as an avid thriller reader, I still didn't see the twists coming and I loved every second of this story! It's a must read

A couple of good twists in the book I never saw coming, I really enjoyed this psychological thriller.

From start to finish I was completely immersed in this storyline. The author crafted an intriguing tale of mystery and suspense .

I appreciated the multiple povs, it heightened the emotions I was feeling and really helped me form theories on everyone's motives. I did guess the final twist but it didn't detract from how engaging the writing was.

I would recommend this book to someone who enjoys reading Mystery Thrillers. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.

Woah, has it been a long time since I’ve read a thriller and been so genuinely shocked by the twist.

After the death of her Mom in England, Holly decides to get a job on Martha’s Vineyard for the summer. Her older sister Claire wasn’t happy about her leaving. Midway through the summer Claire finds out her sister hasn’t been seen on MV, and a strange text comes through from Hollys phone, proving it couldn’t be her sending it. As Claire jumps on a plane to cross the ocean and investigate Hollys disappearance, the police on the island won’t take her seriously. Holly was wrapped up in some drama with the islands two notorious playboys and relatives to the Kennedy’s. Did these boys know where Holly went? Will Claire ever get to see her sister again?

All the descriptions of MV were so accurate, I felt like I could of been walking around the island. The story is told in alternating view points from Holly (on the night of her disappearance) and Claire as she tries to piece the puzzle together of what happened to her sister on the Vineyard. And as I said earlier, the twist at the end was just WOW! Never saw it coming, and it was both satisfying and a little controversial. Overall, a great and easy summer suspense to add to your TBR!

I actually loved reading this. The writing style was so pleasant to read, and I was invested in the characters and story right away.

The setting of Martha's Vineyard was lovely, and I could fully picture it from the descriptions. The characters were also vividly described and felt very real. The pacing of the story was really good and I found it interesting to read.

The only minor drawback was that I did guess the ending quite early on, but I really enjoyed the journey of getting there so it didn't spoil things for me too much.

4.5 stars rounded up to 5, I would definitely recommend this.

It was an enjoyable read for me, just my cup of tea. Got me through so many emotions. At one time I thought I had it all figured out but I was so wrong. Not wanting to spoil but I really loved the ending ! I will gladly read other books from this author again.
