Gerri Hill can always be relied upon for a cracking story and especially when she is writing about her favourite crime fighter Tori Hunter. In this volume, we finally get to find out who was responsible for the life changing event in Tori's past, when her family was murdered. It is gripping, as Tori struggles to keep her focus when being triggered buy her original trauma, luckily she not only has her partner but her friends to help her. With a surprising conclusion this is a fitting way to give Tori closure, I wonder what she will do next.

With thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

To prep for this book, being the conclusion, I decided to re-read from the start of the series since it had been awhile and I was glad I did. It not only gave me a chance to pickup on some things I missed in the past but also rely tied it all together in a fresh look.

I have loved this story arc and all the other books Ms. Hill tied to these characters Tori and Sam. I just can't say enough how pleased I was that this final book in the series tied up many things for me I had left pondering in past books. Ms. Hill is one of the best to really give us closure in stories that carry over into multiple books-I have found that other authors leave a series just sitting there for years with no closure for the reader, this series does not do that, you get the final scene feeling like there is completion and satisfaction to a well written story and characters.

I will always have Ms. Hill on my auto-read list and look forward to many more stories she brings to us.

Thank you for and ARC

Hunter’s Revenge is a great conclusion to a great series and one I sorry to see come to an end. I’m usually one that enjoys a little ,ore of a romance but this kept me turning the page to see what happened next. Love Gerri Hill and would recommend.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher's of Hunter's Revenge for the opportunity to read and review this fabulous 5th and apparently final book in Gerri Hill’s Hunter series, and what a treat this was, and well worth the wait!

It’s a good while since I read the previous books and now I may well return to read them all again in full sequence. Gerri Hill has apparently mentioned that this is the last and 5th book in the “Hunter” series. And certainly it does come full circle and completes the series.

Detective Tori Hunter was the sole survivor when her family were murdered in front of her when she was 12 years old. A new case draws her back to that huge loss which impacted so considerably on her. And her happy home life with wife Sam and close friends Casey and Lesley is at risk when she starts to investigate the past with the impact of recent developments.

It's a complicated story, there is no easy route to solving this, but determination wins through, and this is peppered with red herrings, suspects galore and heartbreaking facts and details. Altogether a very satisfying conclusion to this very compelling series. 5*

Such a great ending to one of this genre's most beloved series. Hunter's Revenge is a well-written police procedural that had me guessing until the very end. There's quite a few characters introduced as suspects, and each serves a role in the murder of Hunters family. Tori, Casey, and her partner, take a lot of liberties in running an off the books investigation to get to the truth so, there's an underlying thrill of will they or won't they get caught process. This book could be read as a standalone but, the entire series is definitely worth reading in sequence. I have enjoyed every book in this series, and I would definitely recommend this book to my friends and family and I look forward to what's next from this author.

This is one of those books that I drool over, having read the entire ‘Hunters’ series I couldn’t wait to read it.
If you are a fan of Ms Hill’s writing, especially the ‘Hunter series’ you don’t need me to tell you just how good this book is. Tori Hunter lost her family when she was 12 yrs old. An intruder broke into her family home and killed each member of her family. Father, mother, brothers and her little sister were shot and she was left alone dealing with their death, always promising to avenge her family’s murder. The best way she had was by joining the police, the same police department her dad worked with.
Now she’s a detective and when she’s called to a murder scene she finds a letter left to her by the victim. Apparently he’s the one who killed her family but in the letter he tells her he was forced to kill. So who ordered her family’s death? Why was she left alone?
Along with her life partner Sam, Casey and Leslie to find the answers, leaving no stone unturned. I enjoyed this book so much that now I feel compelled to go back and reread this series from the start. If you’re a fan you already know this book is another read. Great characters and as always a good plot make this one of my favorites. Very, Very Enjoyable read.

3.5 stars. Some may have noticed I’ve been absent for a while, it turns out that home remodeling is really that terrible as everyone always says. It is eating all my spare time, but I will be back. I’m actually behind on reading my ARCs as well, so my apologies to the publisher for this.

This is the fifth and final chapter in the Hunter series. The Hunter books were some of the first wlw books I read. They resonate so well with me because they have a good mix of mystery, action and romance. You can imagine I was looking forward to this last book and had very high expectations. Were they reached? Not entirely, but this book does give that ending to the biggest mystery of Tori Hunter’s life. If only for that I would read it and I think fans of the series will enjoy this for the same reason.

This book is the last book in a series and I do not recommend reading this as a standalone, but do yourself a favor and read the entire series, it’s good. Many characters from the previous books return what makes this a party of recognition for those that have read the entire series. Tori and Sam are a favorite couple and it is good to revisit them although their interactions didn’t quite reach the depth and intimacy that I’m used to of these two characters in the previous books. I actually enjoyed Tori and Casey’s interactions best in this book. Since this is not a romance but a mystery it makes sense that these two partners shine in this story.

As mentioned, this book addresses the one big mystery of Tori’s life, the death of her family. When they are called to a murder scene they find some clues pointing towards what happened 30 years ago to her family and Tori is determined to find out who did it. In the absence of a romance storyline, the mystery has to carry the book and this is where I was a bit disappointed. The writing is well done as can be expected of Hill but the storyline was somewhat predictable and did not have crazy twists or “on the edge of my seat” action scenes that I’m used to from the previous books in the series.

In summary, fans of the series will likely enjoy this book as it gives that satisfactory ending to the series. The mystery in itself fell a bit flat for me, but it was good to see all the favorite characters once again.

Geri Hill has mentioned that this is the last book in the “Hunter” series. She felt the need to write this 5th book to help the series come full circle in this decades old story.

Readers will reunite with their old characters in this last book, as well as meet new supporting characters who will aid in the telling of the story. Detective Tori Hunter is now a couple of decades older and is nearing the end of her career. She has found much happiness with her wife, Sam, and her two best friends, Casey and Lesley. Her contentment is disturbed when a new case turns Tori’s world upside down and returns her to the road to finding answers regarding who murdered her family in front of her when she was 12 years old.

Ms. Hill has filled this book with plenty of suspense and murder in addition to police corruption. We are witness to very deep emotions which tear Tori apart at times. It is a fast-paced thriller and readers of this series will finally get some answers which they have anxiously waited for over the years. Since this is a multiple books series, I recommend readers read the first 4 books to enable them to understand the cases and the characters.

Hunter’s Revenge is a very good book which will surely keep your interest. I rate it 4.5 stars out of 5.

Entertaining, a real page-turner.

Hunters Revenge, the next instalment to the Tori Hunter series, is absolutely a fantastic crime/thriller/mystery novel. Fast-paced, and keeps you guessing till the end.

Can not recommend the Tori Hunter series enough

4.5 out of 5

This is the latest book in the Tori Hunter series and it answers a lot of questions. Tori's family was murdered, and she catches a case where the guy has pictures of Tori on his walls. Turns out he is a murdered with a twist. She is given information about her family's murder, and she goes out on a limb determined to solve the case and get answers that she had always needed. No one thinks she has a chance after so much time has passed. Casey has her back as always. Sam is supportive and keeps Tori calm. It was a good story and if it ends the series, it was a good finish. I have always liked Gerri Hill's writing and this is another winner in my opinion. You will not go wrong in purchasing this book.

Gerri Hill revisits Tori Hunter's story and wraps it up neatly. I enjoyed learning more about the murder of Tori's family and the learning how the mystery unfolds, but some of the actions and dialogue seemed stereotypical to the "dirty cop" plot line. Overall, a solid book that gives readers (and the character) closure.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC.

I'm a huge Gerri Hill fan. Once again, she doesn't disappoint. It was finally awesome to see Hunter get some closure for her family who were all murdered when she was twelve years old. A few new characters were also introduced during this finale. This was a wonderful ride. I loved that Sam was her same supportive self and voice of reason for Tori. I recommend. 4.5 stars

I was so excited when I heard we'd get a final chapter to Tori Hunter's story, particularly as it centres around what happened to her family. Tori Hunter is a character that will absolutely stay in my mind for years to come. When I read her background in Hunter's Way, I wanted to know more about what happened and I was so glad I got my answers in Hunter's Revenge.

We begin this book with Tori and Casey attending a run-of-the-mill homicide investigation. What begins as routine, soon sets off Tori on a list of questions that need answers and I really loved the way Gerri Hill unfolds this crime novel. There are a lot of pieces to the puzzle that Tori and her team fit together, which made it a compelling read from start to finish. Tori and Sam's relationship is still a joy to read, but it did take a bit of a back burner while Tori got her long awaited answers to why her family was murdered. This story is packed full of action too, which is typical for a Tori Hunter novel.

I could wax on and on about this novel, but I won't. If you've yet to read this series, crack on with it now. It is brilliant.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Bella Books for a copy of this novel. ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

The Hunter series has been one of my favorite series and Sam and Tori, one of my favorite couples. Throughout all the books we knew that the death of Tori’s parents remained unsolved. Now, this book was focused on trying to find the answers.
What sparked and set the wheels in motion was when Tori and her partner, Casey, found a gun at a crime scene that matched the weapon that killed Tori’s parents. She became totally obsessed and focused as she took it upon herself to finally solve the brutal slayings. Tori had to revisit many cases, sifting through evidence as she struggled with so much pain and inner turmoil until the case was resolved. It was a long and tedious task she undertook, but she had no choice if she wanted closure.
Gerri Hill’s books are so well-written and this one is no exception. My only disappointment was the lack of steam. Even so, we felt Sam’s devotion and support of her.
I thoroughly enjoyed this and will miss these characters.
My thanks to NetGalley and Bella Books for reading the arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

Sadly, I didn't enjoy this book as much as the other volumes. There was a lot of repetition. It felt hard at times to keep track of everything that was happening. The search for the people who killed Hunter's family was too drawn out. There was very little personal and emotional interaction between Tori and Sam.

Hunter's revenge is the fifth book in the series and the focus is on family and friendship. Tori Hunter based upon a death and a letter left behind begins the focused search for who murdered her family. With Samantha, Casey and Leslie supportive yet concerned stance, Tori uncovers one rock after another until she uncovers the answer. The biggest concern is her anger and what she will do when she is face-to-face with the answer. Will love of family and friends keep on the right side of the law or will she go rogue. The story was exciting and I sure hope this is not the end of a fascinating series.

Somehow I’ve missed this series. I enjoyed the characters and their relationships. It means I now need to go and start at the beginning to see the relationships grow. Tori received a letter from the man who murdered her family years ago, bringing back the pain and anger. She goes rogue, looking into the past, but her life partner and her best friend won’t allow it.

**'Fatalities, loss, casualties: don't always let these events be the main reasons for your stories. Broaden your storyline to sometimes include unavoidable consequences from any situation..'

3.5stars!
The remarkable magic that shines in Gerri Hill's storytelling with those previous first 3 books in this series kinda faded with this book #5. But 'HUNTER'S REVENGE' at times is luminous and is a chilling police procedural nightmare that exploded into this dislocating piece piece investigation into the nature of how cops policed themselves back in the earlier years with no remorse. It also involves bygone era of crimes, police corruptions, cold blooded killings, friendships and Hunter mainly trying to find out who really had her entire family killed. Sifting through decade old records, notes etc... to pin down the real culprit after finding out the pawn who murdered them. Hunter took it upon herself and started piecing together the details of the past thirty something years where every revelation became more and more clear that it was a group of cops that put a hit out on her family. Then while investigating, it became terrifying because she could not foreseen the real identity of this elusive instigator, would turn out to be.
Readers might notice that there is little intimacy between Hunter and Sam plus Ms.Hill tried having all these characters that's mentioned, to each play a part along side Hunter's journey. It's not too dramatic just enough to quench readers relationship thirst. Also during the storytelling, the outcome appears completely predictable even a tiny bit tedious but it's still enjoyable.
I'll end my perspective by saying that this book #5 do resonates on lies cops tells, secrets cops hide and the lengths they will go to keep any truth from coming out.
It's worth my recommendation to readers of the Hunter series

Sad to say, this is the first Gerri Hill book I didn't enjoy.
It is a long drawn out search for who ordered the killing of Hunter's family, 25 years ago. There are many, many suspects. So many I couldn't keep track of who was who. Who got killed, who was already dead, who lived next door or was retired. And then there are the phone calls....2 to this guy, 3 to that guy from this guy but not that one. Oh my. I stopped trying to keep track and figured I'd find out in the end.
The ending was exciting and the best part but only lasted one chapter. The "who done it" basically was the only guys left standing.
The constant pleading with Hunter to be careful, stop the investigation, turn it over to her lieutenant, etc. Got real annoying. If you've read the previous Hunter books you know how Hunter has mellowed so the way Hunter was acting seemed out of character.
And finally....I missed the romance between Hunter and Sam. Sam seemed to have very little influence over Tori and just waited at home for her angry soldier to come home. Casey played a bigger role, and how many times did Hunter and Casey have to say they loved each other?
No, this was not a typical Gerri Hill story.
The only promising item is, it sounded like there might be more Hunter stories to come with her new adventure. I look forward to those if there are some and hope they return to the old "Hunter's Way"
