This book was wow, I couldn’t put it down. Read in 3 days! True story! Here is a preview below!

Colorado, 1976. When Reverend Mike Fuller and his beautiful wife Sharon arrive in the sleepy town of Rocky Ford, local residents think something's off about the new couple. The God-fearing minister is gruff and cold, while charismatic Sharon has her husband wrapped around her finger.

It isn't long before Sharon is charming her husband's congregation, and finds herself in a tryst with local, married optometrist Perry Nelson. After the affair ends both their marriages, Sharon and Perry tie the knot. But shortly afterwards, Perry disappears. When his body is shockingly discovered the bottom of a canyon, his death is ruled an accident, allowing grieving widow Sharon to claim his substantial life insurance.

Trying to move on from the tragedy, Sharon soon remarries fireman Glenn Harrelson. But when the charred remains of Glenn's body are discovered with two bullet holes in his skull, the police can't help but question if both men dying in such mysterious circumstances is one coincidence too many

Thank you to NetGalley and Thread Books for the ARC!

“A chilling, unputdownable story of Sharon Nelson, the minister’s wife whose two husbands mysteriously ended up dead.”

What a wild story. The writing, as with If You Tell, is great. Very in-depth, sometimes too much, but it’s all relevant.

American Black Widow by Gregg Olsen and Narrated by Karen Peakes
is the shocking chilling true story of a preacher's wife called Sharon Nelson who was the minister’s wife whose both husbands mysteriously ended up dead. This was an audiobook that I was hooked from the beginning and ended up listening to it all day. It was so good........

The God-fearing minister was gruff and very cold, but, his charismatic wife Sharon had her husband wrapped around her finger and the locals started to notice something was not right with this couple!

This audio book/book was shocking, sensational and very gripping. Plus a true story of the black widow Sharon Nelson.

How did one woman called Sharon Nelson think she could get away with these murders!!! it's a must-read tale of greed, sex and murder in a sleepy Colorado town that will have true crime fans of The Staircase, American Mother and Making a Murderer hooked from start to finish.

I highly recommend this book.

I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.

This author always has an amazing way of telling a story! So much detail goes into the excellent writing and storytelling.

Another interesting true crime story by Gregg Olsen. I hadn't realised that it had been released previously before reading it.

It was an interesting story told well and I did find it fascinating - not sure if it has transitioned to screen but can see it doing that.

I was given a free copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.

Thank you for allowing me to read this book as an ARC.
While I had not heard about Sharon Nelson and her story before, the book was interesting and chilling at the same time. While I have enjoyed other books by Gregg Olsen, this one was not my favorite. Since ir was a true crime, it is hard to imagine how anyone can be so cold blooded and manipulative, only looking out for their own interests.
The book's time-line was a little confusing and hard to follow but I assume the author followed the time-line of the investigation. The author has for sure spent a lot of time investigating and researching this case. However, I believe he held a prenotion against Sharon and didn't like her at all. This shows clearly in how he portrayed her throughout. .
Overall good job on the book!

I had to DNF this around 30% in because the anti-women tone was FAR too much. It was definitely more anti-women than anti-murder. Deeply disappointed at the writing because it certainly had the potential to be a fascinating novel. The slut shaming was NOT it.

This was my first book by Gregg Olsen. If you are a fan of True Crime or thriller reads, then this is a must read for you. The author did very good research before writing this book. It is about a narcissistic woman who has two of her husbands killed by her lover. I recommend this book if you like true crime. Thank you to NetGalley and Thread Books for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily and is my own opinion.

This wasn’t my favorite from Gregg Olsen but still very much a solid read in my opinion! It has a few twists that I didn’t see coming but ultimately I guessed the ended about half way through the book.

AMERICAN BLACK WIDOW was a fascinating read about a true crime, and was compellingly written and easy to digest. I’m not typically a true crime reader but enjoyed this one and will seek out more by Gregg Olsen!

Thanks to NetGalley and Thread Books for the opportunity to read and review AMERICAN BLACK WIDOW.

Shocking that this is based on a true story and true events based in life. At times it can make you feel a little uncomfortable. But well written.

This was a phenomenal book. It was so different to read something based on real events as I don’t usually read things like that. I will definitely recommend this book to my friends that love to read. It’s crazy to think stuff like that happens everyday when you don’t see it firsthand. Awesome book!

A must read for fans of true crime. A story on how a notorious Black Widow who enters the lives of a unsuspecting community as a minister's wife and was able to manipulate and prey on men using her sex appeal. At times a bit confusing because of the timeline jumps and a little uncomfortable due to sex descriptions, but although she and her lover are ultimately brought to justice, you are left stunned by the cold-hearted, calculating nature of people.
I will definitely be checking out Gregg Olsen's previous book--If You Tell based on this read.

I'm a huge fan of Gregg Olsen! This book, like his others, feels impossible to put down. He has a great writing style, and it really brings you right into the story!

This was a thoroughly investigated, well put together, true crime read. The author not only offers up the feelings of all those involved but helps give the reader an experience rather than it feeling like an extremely long article. Typically, other books in the true crime world have little feeling, lots of filler, and minimal intrigue other than the story itself. This book wasn't one of them, I commend the author on bringing the story to life and digging into the complex storylines behind the story. This reminded me of the first time I read Helter Skelter, it has the same darkness and uneasy feeling.

Loved If You Tell so I was really looking forward to another true crime read. I was unfamiliar with this story prior so went in blind and it did not disappoint. Great for true crime readers and thriller readers alike
