Thank you soooooo much netgalley, the author and the publisher for the advanced review copy if this book💗
"I voluntarily read and reviewed the book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”
Just WOW!! I loved this book and could not figure out how it was going to end. This is my fourth Sarah Ready book and they just keep getting better.
This is a story about love and loss. About sibling love so strong that they want the best for us, but instead ruin our life. About lies told to protect us, when we do not need protecting.
Love does not usually cross over from different classes of people. This is a story of love that comes once in a lifetime and is rare. People that have not experienced this kind of love for someone outside of their family cannot understand it. They are afraid of it.
In the end all of us are rich - some in love, some in money, some in family. If we are not careful we spend our lives wanting the riches that other people have. For some life is a game to play, for others life is all about survival. Success in life can be measured in so many different ways.
I unfortunately had to give up on this book and DNF at 35%. The characters instantly falling in love, Andrea pretending to be poor because she hates her wealthy home life… Come on. I didn’t mind Jace (although he was painfully cheesy), but Andrea was unbearable. I really tried to get through this one but I just couldn’t do it.
Jace and Andrea's love story had me invested from the start. They met in Central Park, and you could feel the sparks flying off the pages. Andi, a wealthy Upper East Sider, breaks free from the snobby rich girl stereotype, while Jace, a Bronx musician with a rough past, is truly inspiring. Their journey is filled with ups and downs, heartbreak, betrayal, and all the obstacles that had me rooting for them even harder. I listened to the audiobook narrated by James Fouhey and Rachel F. Hirsch, and it was spot-on! Their performances brought the characters to life in such an engaging way. James perfectly captured Jace's emotions, while Rachel added depth to Andrea's perspective. Their chemistry made the romantic moments even more heartfelt. This book is an epic love story with all the feels, and the audiobook narration takes it to a new level. I couldn't put it down, and Sarah Ready's writing is fantastic! I can't wait for more from her!
Absolutely loved this story. Young romance and all its messy glory. The narrators. did incredible.
This is my first book from this author but wow she’s got herself a new fan.
I really enjoyed the story in this book but had a lot of trouble connecting with the two main characters. They never felt human enough to me for me to care all that much about them. Actually, funny enough, Reid was the character I found had the most depth of them all! Likely because he showed humanity in his growth from teen to adult. The story really was interesting and different, and kept me engaged but I felt the character development on Andrea and Jace could have been significantly better, which would have helped establish a more emotional connection to them. I wanted more about Jace's band, and rise to stardom, and wanted more about Andreas familial traumas and manipulation. 4.5 stars for story, 2 stars for characters...
This is the first book that I have read from Sara Ready and I have to say that it was such a beautiful story. Would young love be real? Would a broken heart still be able to love? To create? These are all questions that The Space Between Us answers in such a wonderful way that makes you love these characters from the start.
I was able to read this book as an audiobook advance copy and it was Narrated by James Fouhey and Rachel F. Hirsch. I loved Rachel’s narration but I had some issues with James Fouhey’s narration as I found it super slow.
Thank you to NetGalley and W. W. Crown for the ALC in exchange of my honest review.
Jace and Andi instantly drew me in, their love story was so wholesome! While these young lovers from opposite sides of the tracks have all the odds stacked against them, they stand by each other and grow their love.
The author, developed these characters so well. It was easy to follow their growth and motivations, as well as understand them.
The narrators did an excellent job bringing this story to life!
“Is it possible to love in more than one way?”
This book y’all!! It ripped my entire heart out, put it back together, only to rip it out again. I could not recover. This is by far one of the best books I’ve read this year - probably in contention to become number one.
This is an emotional rollercoaster for sure. The book follows Andrea and Jace from their chance meeting in Central Park when they are in high school as they grow up and make decisions that shape both of their lives. This book is full of hard choices, family dynamics, loss, lies, heartbreak and of course love. It’s an intense ride that I did not want to get off of.
There is such electric chemistry between Andrea and Jace throughout the book. You want so badly for them to figure it out and get together. There’s also a hint of rockstar romance in this one which is fun!
Thanks to @netgalley and publisher for letting me read this amazing book early.
The Space Between" by Sarah Ready narrates a captivating love tale centered around Andrea and Jace, two teenagers who serendipitously meet in Central Park and are drawn into a heartfelt romance. Andrea hails from a privileged, prominent family with extensive connections, while Jace has endured the tragedy of losing his parents to gun violence, leaving him and his brothers in a constant struggle to make ends meet. The novel beautifully portrays the rollercoaster ride of young love, unfolding as a compelling coming-of-age journey for these two individuals from strikingly contrasting backgrounds.
The author, Sarah Ready, exhibits her exceptional writing prowess in this book, making it one of my personal favorites of 2023. Throughout the story, I found myself experiencing an emotional whirlwind, oscillating between laughter and tears. Ready skillfully crafts the characters, ensuring their development unfolds in a believable and authentic manner, showcasing their growth and maturity over time.
I wholeheartedly recommend "The Space Between," especially to young adult readers. It not only captures the essence of romance but also delves into the complexities of life, love, and personal growth. Sarah Ready has delivered a truly wonderful piece of literature, leaving a lasting impression that will resonate with readers long after they've turned the final page.

⚠️ cw: abandonment, abuse, anxiety, assault, death, depression, grief, suicidal ideation, trauma ⚠️
Andrea (Andi) is from the affluent Upper East Side, the daughter of a manipulative billionaire, while Jace is a musician from South Bronx, trying to make ends meet with his brothers and their friends in their band. Despite coming from two completely different worlds, they form an unlikely but immediate friendship that quickly develops into something much more profound. But can their love survive their differences?
I could write pages about how much I loved this book. There were so many twists. Whenever I thought I had a read on a character, they'd surprised me. Following the lives of Jace and Andi over almost two decades, from their first meeting when they are seventeen, there's swoony, overwhelming love, heartbreaking losses, so much angst, and the most satisfying HEA. Be prepared to cry. Chapters 28-31, 40, 45-55, 58, 60, 62, and 63 in particular absolutely wrecked me... Seriously. I cried SO many times!
I absolutely adored Jace from the start. He was such a sweet, pure soul, and I loved how deeply he loved. Andi was such an interesting character. On one hand, able to act cold and aloof, on the other filled with the capacity for so much love. Their connection was so beautiful. The book is filled with so many well-written secondary characters. In particular, I loved Pauly, River, and the character who plays a huge part in the second part of the story (no spoilers). Once again, the author was able to make me care about those characters who've done awful things. I genuinely think this epic story would make the most amazing miniseries.
I was also fortunate enough to be able to listen along to the audiobook, expertly voiced by Rachel F. Hirsch and James Fouhey who were able to add a whole other dimension of emotion, evoking every single nuance of this incredibly beautiful story.
Sarah Ready has once again crafted the most exquisite, heartbreakingly beautiful love story, and I BEG everyone to read/listen to it.

Favourite Quotes:
I’d felt alone my entire life, until the minute I first heard the notes of his song. After that, I didn’t feel lonely anymore.
'“I never got over it. You don’t get over that kind of love. You keep living. You keep going. But you don’t get over it.”
“There’s a wide chasm between loving someone and knowing you love someone.”
"If we don’t fall, if we aren’t human, then there’s no need for grace. You have to forgive.”
Honestly, I DNF this. I honestly could not get into it. I tried. I will try to come back to it again.
There was a lot to unpack in this book. To be honest, I think it was almost two separate books. I would have rated each of those books 4+ stars but the two separate stories didn’t really merge together that well. I don’t want to say too much or I’ll have to mark the review with spoilers. That being said, I did connect with the characters!

"Do you ever feel you ended up exactly where you were meant to be even though you didn't know the road was leading this way when you took it?"
And what a winding, broken road we follow in the bittersweet love story The Space Between by one of my favorite romance authors, Sarah Ready.
Jace and Andi meet in Central Park when they are only 17 and she rescues him from bullies led by spoiled rich Reid. Andi's from a wealthy elite NYC family. Jace is from The Bronx, living with his older brothers after their parents were murdered just walking home. He wants to be a musician, she wants to escape.
Like in most of this writer's stories everything is great until it isn't anymore. Their love story comes to an abrupt end because of a selfish lie. It leaves them both broken, "You don't get over that kind of love. You keep living, you keep going but you don't get over it."
The next time they meet, 5 years later, Andi is getting married to someone else the next day. Then 8 years later they meet right where they first fell in love but now Andi has a daughter. Jace is leaving his family's band. What happened in the space between the years?
I was awed by narrators James Fouhey and Rachel F. Hirsch going from the joy of in love teens to adults with memories of heartbreak between them.
There are many shocking turns throughout their journey but the biggest one for me was the connection with once bully Reid. His story, his growth, his compassion brought me to tears. This well crafted romance will have you grabbing the tissues in the space between the breakup, the deception, the forgiveness, the compassion, the grief, the loss, the found family and most of all, the love.
I received a free copy of this audiobook from the publishers via #netgalley for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.
The Space Between is the first novel by Sarah Ready I have read and I am ready to correct that as I couldn't put it down. I am not a major romance reader but both the cover and description intrigued me.
I absoulutely loved this book and the relationships between Jace and his family as well the love that grows between Jace & Andi. There was a few moments where I guessed what was gonna happen next but overall this was a great story.
The narrators were amazing and I will not mind picking up some more of their works.
I highly recommend this book!
Thanks to #NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC and audio in exchange for an honest review.
I started and stopped this book a couple times. The first few chapters didn’t really grab my attention. That said, I am so glad I picked it back up because this book is great! The adult Andi/Andrea (literally from when she turned 18) and her relationships with the other characters (her family, Reed, Jase) was much more interesting to me.
Thanks to #NetGalley and the publisher for early access to this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
This book was so good. I just finished and my face still have tears running down it. This book was full of so many smiles and yet so, so many tears!
This was so unexpected - especially with this adorable cover. I was not expecting the emotional damage that this book has caused me!
I wasn’t expecting two different two stories with our FMC. This wouldn’t normally be my jam, but this book worked. There was so, so much love in this book between both different stories.
I want so much more of Jace and Andi!!
A modern New Adult tale of star-crossed lovers, pushed and pulled together serendipitously over time.
Andi and Jace may live in different worlds, but they are connected by music, compassion and a spark that starts with "You are beautiful". The narrators do a great job of bringing these characters to life in alternating dual POV chapters. If you need a Ravenhood fix, this book is perfect.
I honestly was about to DNF around 40% but things started really picking up about then. I listened to the rest of it in one (long cleaning and laundry) sitting and could not stop to even feed my family :) It has been days since I finished this and I cannot express how much I revisit some of these scenes in my mind.
For those who read it, there is actually a third party character that I wish we had more of. I would read a story of just him.

Wow! What a story! Andrea is a pawn in her rich father's empire. To escape, she people watches in Central Park, where she encounters a busker named Jace whose songs make her heart soar.
They come from completely different worlds, yet there's an immediate soul connection between the two of them that neither can deny. But circumstances (and people) keep conspiring to push them apart.
This story includes many of the elements I enjoy in a sweet romance:
- Love at first sight
- Found family
- Challenges to overcome
- A willingness to fight for what you want
I recently heard that you need the right time, the right place, and the right circumstances for a romance to work out. Miss any of those elements, and it's not going to work.
That's exactly what happened with Andrea and Jace. It took a lot of time and living before they were able to get all three right, but what a story they had to share! One of my favorite books this year.
Thank you to Sarah Ready, W. W. Crown, and NetGalley for an advance review copy. I'm truly grateful!
Now THIS is a romance! Jace is a musical prodigy from the Bronx, in a band with his brothers. Andrea is from the upper east side, a chess piece in her wealthy family’s games. Opposites attract when these two meet in Central Park. This took me on a rollercoaster of rooting for them, to understanding why it can’t work, back to rooting for them again.
Seven Days In June meets Pack Up The Moon with a sprinkle of Daisy Jones and the Six…. What?! Yes, I loved every second of this!!
• dual pov
• band on tour
• emotional
• found family
• (1/5 🌶️, perfect for this story)
