I really enjoyed this story. I couldn't stop listening! The storyline was not what I had expected, especially the second part. I really enjoyed it and thought that it wasn't your typical predictable romance.
This is one of the books that I would totally enjoy as much as I did if I had to read/ listen to it again, even if most of the book I felt heartbroken and I was rooting for the main characters.
I loved the characters, the story, the twists and even the voices of both people who narrated the book.
And yes, the book it is cheesy, but if you don't like cheesy books I won't recommend it, otherwise, if you do enjoy cheesy reads - I couldn't recommend it enough.
Not last, I would like to thank NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the opportunity to listen to this book before being released in exchange for my honest review.
Jace and Andy meet at 17, and they instantly know they are "it" from each other. He lives in a really bad section of The Bronx and his parents were murdered in a bodega robbery. Her father is an uber wealthy real estate mogul. They couldn't be more different. This book follows their journey from 17 to about 33.
<spoiler>I have a confession. I fell in love. With Reed! Oopsy. I think we were meant to, a little bit, but I didn't connect with Jace all that much from the very beginning. Reed was it for me(well, not at 17). I cried SOOOO hard at the end of Andrea and Reed. </spoiler>
Spoilers aside, parts of this were perfect. I cried. So much.
I listened to the audiobook. The book is told from dual POVs and James Fouhey narrates Jace's chapters, Rachel F. Hirsch narrates Andrea's chapters. I was nearly immediately annoyed with James Fouhey's narration. Jace's family is musical and his parents love jazz, especially Louis Armstrong. Louis's name appears dozens of times throughout the book. And James Fouhey mispronounces it every time. I always wonder how this gets past editors/producers. If a random word is mispronounced- especially an uncommon one- it is mildly amusing. But when a famous musician's name, one who is integral to the story, is mispronounced repeatedly, then I have issues. It is a major pet peeve. I never did really care for Jace, and I wonder if that wasn't partly because I was annoyed with the narrator.
I received an audio copy in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely adored this audiobook, the narration was excellent and the emotions throughout were an absolute rollercoaster, I may even have sobbed at the end.
I absolutely adore Sarah Ready's writing style - it's full of emotion while also maintaining a light and warm feel. I expected this to be a fluffy romance, but it wound up being so much more!
Thoughts:
-I loved Jace's dynamic with his brothers and the rest of the band and how they all let the morals of Jace’s parent's live on through them
-Andrea was just a solid character. She was technically a cliché rich girl running away with a "bad boy,” but she felt like much more than that. She had substance and heart throughout the entire book
-The emotion between Andrea and Jace was such a rollercoaster. At times it was fun, young love, while other times, it felt bigger than them. But in both extremes, it was beautifully written
-Ready crafted a compelling story of two soulmates with a lot of trauma being brought together only to be torn apart and forced to find their way back to each other
-The twists toward the end made me unsure how it was going to end but as always Ready wrapped things up beautifully
This was a beautiful story of love, grief, and forgiveness. I highly recommend picking this one up.
Thank you Sarah Ready, W. W. Crown, and Netgalley for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
Who would have thought that I'd cry my eyes out with this book. That specific scene really hit hard. I love this book and Sarah Ready never fails to deliver us with amazing books! I cannot wait to read more from this amazing author!
Not gonna say much about this book but just know that it is amazing and you will love it!
A moving love story with a lifetime of obstacles. Andy is an Upper East side girl and Jace a Bronx boy determined to make his name in music. Despite belonging to polar opposite words, they collide with fireworks and understand each other like no one else. Their connection isn't enough to stop real life intervening and blowing up their worlds. Can Their connection remain despite everyone and everything working against them? Superbly narrated to convey love and turbulence. #thespacebetween #sarahready #netgalley #romance #lovestory

I’ve only read one previous book by Sarah Ready and while that one was enjoyable, I wasn’t really expecting much from this one but holy crud… I could not stop listening to this audiobook! I was hooked on Andi and Jace’s story, I loved Jace’s good heart and the full speed that he and Andi gave each other their hearts! There were a few twists and turns and while I was angry at some of the characters for their parts and the wasted time when they could have been together, I love how everything ended (ok, everything except for Paulie’s end). The amount of angst wasn’t sickening, but it was enough to keep me on pins and needles waiting to see how things would work out. Seriously, I just loved the amount of heart that was in this story! The narrators brought the characters and all their emotions to life!
I absolutely loved this book and have already recommended it to a handful of people. Especially those that like happy endings.
I enjoyed that the audiobook had a make and female voice for the characters to tell the love stories. You think it might be the typical story of the uptown girl falling for the boy from the wrong side of NY but you’d be wrong! We follow the love story of Andrea and Jace beginning in their late teens. The battle with her Rich parents, parents trying to marry her off to someone else, and the life in between that causes many roadblocks, and some unexpected love along the way.
If you don’t pickup this book, you will truly be missing out on a fantastic reading experience.,
After French Holiday, I don’t think I was expecting Sarah Ready to make me cry the way she did.
Sarah Ready has really become an author I will seek out. Her work resonates with me and I thoroughly enjoy it.
The Space Between was no exception! The audiobook was done well. I’m happy to see dual POV from her.
I enjoyed this book! I laughed, I cried, and I couldn’t put it down.
What a sweet and enjoyable read. Those looking for a good first love revisited trope, this is the book for you. This book hit me in all the feels. I can't wait to read more from Sarah Ready, her characters were relatable and flet like people you know. The narration was on point. Excellent book all the way round. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced listen.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), Members' Audiobooks, for gifting me an audio ARC of this wonderful book by Sarah Ready, and perfectly narrated by James Fouhey & Rachel F. Hirsch - 5 stars!
Andrea Leighton-Hughes and Jace Morgan have a chance meeting in Central Park. From that moment, they know they're meant to be together forever. Andrea is from a very wealthy family, yet feels she's unloved for herself and only useful to the family's reputation. Jace was raised in a happy, musical family but tragedy changed everything. Together, each feels seen for the first time. No one else understands their love and life interfers with the fairy tale.
I absolutely adored this title and premise - What happens in the time they aren’t together—in the space between? This book touched all the feels, yet went beyond a typical romance to surprise me with quite a few twists. Told from both Jace and Andy's POV, I rooted for both of them through all the ups and downs. This is a new-to-me author, but I'll be looking for more from her!
This is a Sweet love story that plays out over many years. Andrea and Jace met by chance when they were just graduating from high school and the connection was intense. Two kids from very different social classes are able to make it work until outside interference creates a void that lasts for years. I enjoyed how this saga played out. At times the ostentatious descriptions of how the wealthy lived and spent their money was hard to believe but then I truly don't know how the other half lives, suffice it to say- it was rewarding to have the rich girl know at such a young age that love was more important than money. An enjoyable listen thanks to the narrators- James Fouhey and Rachel F. Hirsch. And a well told story by Sarah Ready. Thank you to Net Galley and W.W. Crown for the ARC in Audio.
Let me start by saying that I thought this would be a romcom. It is not. It has an incredible amount of depth to the story that I wasn't expecting. There is also some violence in it. That being said, I think this book would make a great movie. I listened to the audio version narrated by James Fouhey and Rachel F. Hirsch and at times the story was painted so well that I felt like I WAS watching a movie.
The book had a lot of different relationships going on, but no so many characters that I got lost. I think the in depth look at the relationships of Jace and Andrea with their different family members were key in making this book work. Their families don't see the relationship working and even try to tear them apart. Their belief in their love is what keeps them going through all the rough spots and through all the years of separation.
This was a highly emotional story that I just could not put down. I loved every page of it!
Thanks to W.W. Crown and NetGalley for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.
This was a really beautiful book that I couldn't stop listening to. I was debating between 4 starts and 5 for this read, but realized that this book is probably going to live rent free in my head for a while.
I loved the plot and the ending. The whole book flowed really well even though it spanned years. The relationships felt real to me and the growth and obstacles are relatable.
My favorite thing about this book is that even if the characters fade in my mind, I think the reminders about life that the characters went through will hopefully stick with me much longer than the characters.
Unfortunately I don’t think this was a well suited book for me. I didn’t expect it to be so YA that I felt like I was too old to be reading it. I also have a passionate hatred for insta love which again made me ill-suited for this book.
Character wise Andi was likeable enough, Jace failed to mature or have any real character growth over the 14 odd years and Reed was simply irrelevant.
The narration however was really good and I enjoyed both actors and the expression in their voices!
Thanks so much to NetGalley, the author and the published for this copy.
Josh and Gemma books were my favorite so I had high expectations for this one. I didn’t feel as connected to the characters as I did in Josh and Gemma but I still enjoyed the book. I listened to the audio and the narrators were great. Highly recommend this author is general!
I'm on the fence with my rating/review for THE SPACE BETWEEN. So please bare with me.
First and for most, I feel like this book should have had some kind of content warning. It dealt with gun violence, attempted sexual assault, emotional abuse, physical abuse, drug addiction, accidental suicide, car accidents, parental deaths due to violence, terminal cancer. Needless to say, there was a lot going on, but I think it would have been nice to kind of prepare going into it.
Second, when I started the book I was expecting a rom-com. I really liked FRENCH HOLIDAY, so I was excited to read this one. But, I was a little thrown when the book starts when the POV's are teenagers and it stays that way until almost half way through the book. Looking back I'm glad the reader got to experience the beginning of their relationship. But I feel like maybe it went on for a little too long at that perspective. At about 30% I was thinking I wasn't really interested in the two of them. But I'm glad I kept reading.
Overall, I really like the story the story that was built and how it wove through their lives. But the most of the teenage years and the epilogue weren't really for me, so I'm leaning more towards a 3.5 stars.
Wow Sarah ready knocked this one out of the park. This book was wonderful and heartbreaking all in one. Jace and Andy’s love story was just beautiful and real and raw. Can not recommend this enough
My first audiobook that I listened to it was quite enjoyable listening to the narrators than reading a book. I still think I prefer reading a book though. Andrea and Jace story was interesting, I liked hearing both POVS throughout the book from their past to the present. The love story was well you'll have to read to find out what happens to their love story.
